DeHITA HOUSE: Small, stuccoed concrete block masonry wall building, constructed by the Board staff in 1977 as an interpretive building representing a small First Spanish Period residence.
It has a hip roof covered with wood shingles, an open loggia on the south side, tabby concrete floor, plastered interior walls, and an exposed beam ceiling.
It has central heat and air, but no plumbing. The electric service is adequate for current use.

Date Acquired: 1977.
Method of Acquisition: Foundation gift and grants.
Deed Restrictions: None known.

Condition: Good. General maintenance only.

Life Safety Issues: None

ADA Compliance Status: In compliance. Accessible.

Estimated Cost to Meet City Standards: $500.

Mechanical: Air conditioning and heating unit in the attic in non-working condition.
Wiring: Adequate
Plumbing: None

Maintenance Needs: Painting inside.

Considerations: This structure along with the other properties within the Spanish Quarter Museum, north of the Greek Shrine, will continue to be
interpreted as part of 1740-1760 late First Spanish Period with an increased emphasis on the presentation of activity of daily life within and around each structure.

HISTORICAL RESOURCES GRANTS-IN-AID AWARDED TO CITY OF ST. AUGUSTINE ON 09/97 A TOTAL OF $450,000.

Grant Funds: $1,500 Assessed Value (Gonzales, DeHita & New Blacksmith): $166,050
