Shands Information Technology Goals for FY'02

1) Provide improved support and satisfaction to Shands by implementing a new remote
support strategy in Customer Support and accomplishing important support and
infrastructure needs.
The remote support strategy (zone mechanic analogy) would be fully
implemented.
The help desk would be fully linked to the expanded Call Center.
The Data Center renovation and automation projects completed (Tape Robotics
and Console Automation).
Analysis of voice over the Internet (IP) would be done on 10 sites.
Registration Integration would be implemented with three major modules
(demographic, insurance & medical record number audit)
HIPAA analysis, EDI implementation for 10/02 & enhanced security
UF IAIMS coordination with the UF Health Sciences Center
Support of Shands Jacksonville with Internet connectivity, extension of Healthnet
to Jax
Provide advice and guidance for technology issues for the CEO and VP of IS for
Shands Jax.
Analysis of moving the Siemen's implementation back to model
Facility Network and/or Workstation implementation for seven major projects
(Rocky Point, Old PFS, Rehab, Clinical Trials Building, Health Professionals
Building, Medical Science Building, and ARB). In addition, we are renumbering
our complete network for Shands and Health Science Center to a new Internet
Class B license.

2) Provide new access to clinical information and functionality over the Web. These
system enhancements are provided by creating software shells around our legacy
vendor products. This allows for the continued success of the base product but allows
flexibility to integrate and develop new functionality.
Clinical Results Reporting (all facilities and up to 10 years of data)
Electronic Signature on transcriptions from Medquist
View radiology images from PACS system
Transcription Alternatives
On-line training for confidentiality and security
Analysis of Clinical Data Warehousing
Analysis of Referral Relationship system
Analysis of Physician Order Entry

3) Implement a number of departmental upgrades and enhancements requested for the
improvement of departmental operations. These include...
ERP Upgrade to Peoplesoft 8.0 (a web product for HR, GL, AR)
Inventory system (RIC) replacement
Kronos (HR timekeeping system) upgrade
Transplant Database replacement









* Dialysis replacement
* Nurse Call replacement
* FGP Imaging replacement
* Laboratory System (Lake Shore) new implementation
* OR Scheduling and Management System replacement
* Pharmacy Replacement
* Medication Administrative Record new implementation
* Nursing Acuity upgrade
* Nursing Scheduling upgrade
* Analysis of Materials Management System
* Analysis of Referral Physician System rewrite

4) Development and support of the Private Internet (sometimes called the Intranet or
Extranet). There will be management of the Web infrastructure with policies,
procedures and operational support. In addition, there will be a few applications all
being deployed from a Portal (a flexible front-end to an Intranet) under secure links
