St. Augustine
Living history!


This Saturday, April 12th, we're headed
to Historic St. Augustine! St. Augustine
is the oldest European city in the
U.S., founded in 1565. While there, you
can do a LOT! You can spend all day in
the really beautiful OLD CITY and walk
through the SPANISH QUARTER,
which has lots of RESTAURANTS and
SHOPPING See the CASTILLO DE
SAN MARCOS. the most well
preserved example of a Spanish fort in
the U.S with reenactments and real
cannons. Beaches! See lots of
"OLDEST" places:
*Oldest Wooden School House
*Oldest Store
*Oldest House
See the famous FOUNTAIN OF
YOUTH. Go to RIPLEY'S BELIEVE
IT OR NOT museum. See the
BASILICA CATHEDRAL, and much,
much more!

WHEN: Saturday, April 12th. We will
meet at Norman Garage at 10:00 AM.
We will return somewhere between 6
PM and 10 PM. We will go rain or
shine.

TRANSPORTATION: We will be
taking 2 vans and can seat 12 people
total. You will NOT need to buy a van
ticket at the TRiP office.

COST: Because we are using vans,there
is a CIP Fee of $15.00, which you need


to pay to Sonja in the main office on
Tuesday April 8 before 1:30pm. You
will need to pay in cash, exact change
only.You can also bring spending money
for the museums and food. The historic
sites and museums are generally between
$5 and $10 each for admission.

Come for FUN and lots of U.S.
HISTORY!




The ELI's Institutional TOEFL will be
given on Friday, April 18th, at 2pm in the
Communicore at Shands. The
Registration Schedule for the TOEFL is
as follows:

IMPORTANT NOTE
#1: You MUST be on
time. If you arrive even
ONE MINUTE late,


you will not be permitted
to register at the regular
time. You will have to
register with the part-
time and non-students,
and you will be
permitted to register only
if there is space. You
will also have to pay a

late fee of$40. NO

EXCEPTIONS.

If you have a problem and cannot
register at your assigned time, please
come to the ELI Main Office BY
WEDNESDAY, April 9th to receive a
different registration time.

must sign up in the ELI Main Office

IMPORTANT NOTE

#2:

Everyone, bring A
PICTURE ID AND A

NUMBER 2 PENCIL to

TOEFL registration.
If you don't bring your ID, you will
not be permitted to register, and if
you forget your pencil, you may
delay the process.





On Thursday, April 24th, we will be
giving the CELT, our exit test, during
extended Reading/Writing Class Hours.
There will be no late exams and no
late students admitted to the exams.
All ELI students are required to attend
and take the test in order to receive a
certificate of completion from the ELI.
Please remember to be on time. If
you arrive late to the test, you will not be
permitted to take it, and you will not
receive a certificate of completion from
the ELI. The schedule is as follows;
sections refer to Reading/Writing
classes. We will hold the test in your
Reading writing classes, but with
extended times. Morning
Reading/Writing classes will take the test
from 8:15am until 10:30am. Afternoon
Reading/Writing classes will take the test
from 3pm until 5:15pm.
Note: Reading/Writing 60 will test
in Norman Hall Room 313.
Part-timers not taking Reading/Writing,
please see Scott in the ELI Main Office
to receive a test assignment.

Fees-Since we're coming closer to
the end of the semester, we just
want to remind you that now is a
good time to think about clearing
up any fees and fines that you might
have with the university. If there
are any outstanding balances owed,
we won't be able to release any of
your academic information or
certificates to you.

Part time students, don't forget-if
you wish to take the ELI TOEFL
with the other students, you must
actually sign up for it in the ELI
Main Office, Room 315. If you
have not already done so, please go
and sign up as soon as possible.
