This course explores the position of women and men in society from
several perspectives: the CULTURAL, male and female status in preindus-
trial and in technological society; the ECONOULIC, how women and men fare
under different economic systems; the PSYCH-OLOGIC AL, inter- personal
relations between the sexes, and the POLITICAL:, female and n.ae parti-
cipation at the conm:iand echelons of various societies. Tee also
a LITERARY dimension to the course, the exploration of' tereotvypes a.c -
archtypes of the sexes in a novel of your own selection.
