Office of Educational Research Bulletin (ORB)

News & Notes

Welcome back! We hope that your
summer was as relaxing as it was
productive and that you were ready for
and looking forward to the fall semester.

The 2009-2010 academic year will be a
period of transition for the Office of
Educational Research (OER). As you
know, the search for a permanent
Associate Dean for Research was
unsuccessful. John agreed to stay on for
one more year as Interim Associate
Dean for Research & Faculty
Development until a new search is
conducted and the permanent position
filled. Until then, the OER will continue
to work closely with the Research
Advisory Committee of the Faculty
Policy Council to continue to provide
the excellent array of services to support
researchers in the College as it has
throughout the past few years.

In addition, the OER space has been
undergoing renovation all summer,
with an anticipated completion around
mid-September. We look forward to
moving into the new and improved
space. The new OER will be in close
proximity to the Research & Evaluation
Methodology faculty and graduate
students, as well as the Collaborative
Assessment and Program Evaluation

Services (CAPES) office. CAPES is well
on its way to establishing itself as a
major resource for researchers both
within the College and across the
campus. These structural changes will
bring together for the first time many of
the different groups that provide
support (e.g., grant submission, research
design, data analysis, etc.) to researchers
across the College.

Despite the fact that change is often
difficult and stressful, we are optimistic
about successfully navigating these
transitions and excited about the future
of research in the College of Education.

We look forward to working with you
this year!
