Office of Educational Research Bulletin (ORB)

News and Notes

This is the first in a series of monthly
reports to be published by the Office of
Educational Research (hereafter, in
perpetuity, OER). It comes in response to
concern expressed by the Research
Initiatives Strategic Planning Task Force
and separately, at a retreat, by the College's
administrative team. Both groups
recognized more frequent communication as
a beginning step in the process of improving
the College's research culture.

In this and every monthly issue, we will
recognize newly funded proposals and
principal investigators, and list all
submissions for the month. On the newly
funded list, we included projects for which
we received NOAs during August. On the
submissions list, we included every proposal
submitted through OER last month.

We believe the information in these
tables is complete and correct, but we may
be wrong. Please advise us of errors or
omissions in these tables, and we will
correct them. Over the course of the year,
the tables will be compiled for annual
reports of OER activity, so the accuracy of
what we report is important to us.

Congratulations to Jeanne Repetto (SE),
Nancy Waldron (EP), Mary Brownell (SE),
and Rick Ferdig (STL), all of whom had
projects funded in August. And thanks to
those ofyou who submitted last month-Phil
Clark (EAP), Buffy Bondy (STL), Jeri
Benson (Dean's Area), Diane Ryndak (SE),

andAlyson Adams (Lastinger Center). May
good fortune also befall all ofyou.

We do not plan to include a long
narrative each month, but it seemed
unavoidable in this first issue. However, we
will continue with a news and notes section
and plan to include bulleted information and
messages of use to COE researchers. If you
have ideas about what to include-or more
general feedback about the report, please
contact Susie Lonon at zsw(@icoe.ufl.edu or
96-234.
