There is increased concern with the poor condition of tomatoes at the retail
level. We are convinced the trouble lies in improper handling, storage and
refrigeration. The chart which is enclosed gives the proper temperatures for fresh
tomatoes and this information should be used by everyone in the fresh tomato
business. This chart can be used most effectively in conjunction with the recently
published color poster "Let's Have Good Tomatoes" prepared by and available from
Mr. Stanley Rosenberger of the Agricultural Extension Service, University of Florida,
Gainesville, Florida.

Lets do all we can to see that the housewife gets the very best vegetables
possible. "Good vegetables serve as a calling card to the housewife poor
vegetables will get no return invitation."
