St ARC profs., alumni win AIA Awards
SR e AIA Gainesville
Martin Gold, ARC associate professor and interim director,
received two design awards from the Gainesville chapter of the
American Institute of Architects for his work with the Florida
Community Design Center and in his private practice.
ARC associate professors Nancy Sanders and Robert MacLeod

Glenn Acomb, LAE lecturer, presented "Low Impact Development
Design Tools in Residential Communities" in October at the
Stormwater Roundtable at the 2nd Annual Treasure Coast Green
Conference. In January, he presented two topics, "LID Practices:
Resource Efficient Landscapes and Nutrient Source Control" and
"LID Practices: Volume Controls," at the Low Impact Development
Practices for Florida: Stormwater, a continuing education seminar
sponsored by Pinellas County and Tampa Bay Water.
Hui Zou, ARC assistant professor, published a bilingual (English
and Chinese) critique entitled "Art of Memory: Architecture of the
Deshaus [Da She], Shanghai" in the February issue of the
Japanese architectural journal a + u (China). The architectural firm
Deshaus is based in Shanghai and represents the new generation
of Chinese architects born in the 1960-70s.

NAED Water & Sustainabilty S\nmposium
DCP will host the National Academy of Environmental Design's
Water & Sustainability Symposium Feb. 16 and 17. The
symposium will bring academics and professionals in the design
field together with scientists and engineers to identify needed
action for reducing water demand and improving water flow and

Bullldng Construction career fair
The Rinker School will hold its spring career fair Feb. 17 at 9:30 a.
m. at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The fair is open to all
students in the fields of design, construction, planning, real estate,

Interior Design a\\ yards
The Department of Interior Design will hold its annual awards
ceremony and advisory board meeting Feb. 20 at the Reitz Union.
Padua photography exhibit
Mary Padua, LAE associate professor, will have her installation
"Sacred Places and Skies Redux: Petit Collection" on display at the
Grinter Gallery Jan. 23 through March 27.
