 Notes

You can read in the photo that she died in Kingston, Jamaica on November 27, 1893 and her remains were taken to Cuba were they are today. From her originates a popular Cuban anecdote "They took her one of her sons, badly injured, and when she saw him she turned to the youngest son and said 'You need to stand tall and grow quickly so that you too can go fight for the independence of Cuba.'"
