Oh, we. are little Stickle-
/1 /backs,
We swim .about the
Where many other fishes
The Jack, and Trout,
and Bream.

And for our little baby-fish
S- A cosy nest we make,
And that no hurt should come to them
The greatest care we take,

1 For if some Fish or other Thing
To harm our nest draws near,
Sif- We bravely bite, and fiercely fight
To save our babies dear.

7The Squirrels.

These are pretty little Squirrels,
Their home Jis in a tree,
They frisk and gambol on the boughs
As happy as can be.

Though they 're playful little Squirrels
They work as well
as play,
For ready for the winter
They store some food
away. \P

The Bzird Builders.

The merry
little Birdies
"/ Make soft and
cosy nests,

Lay their eggs,
and keep
them warm
Beneath their
feathered breasts.

And when baby Birds
are hatched
The parent Birds must

All day long in search
of food
To still their hungry cry.

Busy Bees.


A Busy little
buzzing Bees,
Flitting to and fro,

Sipping sweetness from the flowers,
As you come and go.

Storing honey in your hives
For the winter days

pretty flowers grow

By the garden ways.

But we take your honey, dears,
For we like it well,
And we put, for food instead,
Sugar in your cell.

Th e Moles.

The Mole's house is found
Beneath in the ground,

He burrows a cell
Wherein he may dwell.

He throws with his nose
Earth up, as he goes,

So Mole-hills are seen
In the fields so green.

The Furry Beavers.

SWe are furry Beavers,
Such sharp teeth have we,
SWe can even gnaw through
Quite a full-grown tree.

So we build our houses
Very strong and well,
Deep in streams we make them
For that's where we dwell.

The Spindly-Spider.

The Spider weaves webs
To use as a net,
And many a meal
Caught in it he'll get: /
