By the light of
Was combing his
the Animal Fair;
Beasts were there.
E ND there was the Kangaroo,
With the Ostrich who came from the Zoo.
Under a tree,
They were serving tea,
With cake and lemonade too.
HE Rhinoceros, too, was there,
And danced with the Polar Bear.
The Animal Band,
Near the peanut stand,
Played a waltz for the frolicsome pair.
I TIGER who came from afar,
Sold pop at this strange bazaar.
An Owl in a tree,
Told fortunes free;
And the Bear played on the guitar.
HEN just as the clock struck nine,
The Animals formed a line:
First came the Monk,
On the Elephant's trunk,
And invited me down to dine.
HERE was a Seal
and an Arctic Whale,
And a Dodo with curly tail.
The Lion as host,
Was carving the roast,
While the Parrot poured out ginger ale.
- ND just as I left the Fair,
With its Birds and its Beasts so rare,
I saw the Baboon,
By the light of the moon,
Still combing his auburn hair.
Denslow's New Series of Picture Books
FOR CHILDREN FOR 1904
The twelve books by Mr. Denslow, published in 1903, were so well received
by children all over the world, that we take pleasure in putting before
them six new titles by the same author and illustrator, whose watchword
is action, color, expression and clean wholesome FUN for the little ones.
