Morganfield Aug. 21 [1872?]
Dear sister [Etta A. Anderson?],
Butler's telegram reached me last night & shocked me dreadfully being entirely
unprepared for any such news. Dr. Scott's first dispatch only reached me Saturday night
& was then unintelligible. I thought it was Will C. & who that was I did not know. I
only write now to learn something of Dr. Scott's plans & what he will do with the dear
ones. Can he part with any of them to me. I will thank God & him for any of them. I
can write no more.
