Marianne and Sandra: RoseMary found the following in the old
(prior to 1994-5) WIAD file:
February 1992. Letter to WIAD members from Anita and Linda
LaForest indicating courses in the three groups for the WID
April 28, 1992. Letter from Anita to Madelyn asking her to
consider a proposal for a certificate beginning in Fall term
1992. Note that in this request it says 9 credits are required
for MS and 12 for PhD students. I have no response from Madelyn
in my file. I suppose Anita has it in her WIAD file.
June 16, 1992. WIAD update from Linda LaForest which says in
part: The graduate school has approved, with minor
modifications, the WIAD request for a graduate concentration in
WID. It will be effective this fall. Note: this apparently
confirms that Madelyn approved Anita's April 28 request with some
modifications (which must include changing to 12 credits the
requirement for all graduate students).
The Agenda for the WIAD business meeting of 3 Sept 1992 included
a statement that the concentration would require 12 credits.
Minutes of the WIAD business meeting of 7 Jan 93 included a
statement on the WID certificate: 1) WIAD is temporarily
responsible for the management of the certificate until the
Gender Institute is established; 2) Procedures for delivery of
the certificate have been discussed. Marianne suggested an
advising committee of three persons.
Minutes of WIAD business meeting 19 Mar 93: Discussed Marianne's
new course Anth and Dev, a tentative advisory committee (SR, MS,
PH, AS, SS) etc.
Minutes of WIAD business meeting 1 Oct 93: Applications for cert
will be passed to screening committee members of the Advisory
Committee (the five named above).
WIAD Newsletter October 1993: The U of F now offers the Cert in
WID (with 12 credits).
Letter of May 11, 1994 from Phyllis Schmidt to PEH and SR asking
us to respond in writing how many of the students that receive
certificates from your certificate program require for employment
purposes, transcript certification of that certificate.
A letter from me on May 16, 1994 responding to Phyllis' request.
Then she also found applications from: Bryan Byrne and Jessica
