The following further directions have
been received in connection with the
Government Notice dated 13th April
1956 with regard to payment of com-
pensation under Article 15 (a) of the
Peace Treaty on the subject of remit-
tance of compensation monies:

1. If the present total of a non-
resident exchange account (in the
claimants name) consisting either
of compensation moneys or of
restored balances or of both does
not exceed the equivalent of
United States $10,000 the whole
sum may be remitted.

2. If such present total exceeds the
equivalent of United States
$10,000 individuals only-not
firms or companies may make a
single remittance of the equiva-
lent of United States $10 000 from
the non-resident exchange ac-
count.



Further to the notice dated 10th
March, 1956, concerning the second-
ment of His Honour Hugh Burrowes,
Administrator of St Kitts-Nevis-An-
guilla to be Deputy Chief Liaison Offi-
cer of the British West Indies Central
Labour Organisation in Washington,
it is hereby notified for general infor-
mation that Mr. Burrowes obtained
permission from the Secretary of State
for the Colonies to retire from the ('olo-
nial Service with effect from the 24th
July, 1956. His secondment as Depu-
ty Chief Liaison Officer ceased as from
the date of his retirement.

An Ordinance to amend the Cotton
Export Levy Ordinance, 1933.

ENACTED by the Legislature of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as follows:-

rt title. 1. This Ordinance may be cited as the
Cotton Export Levy (Amendment) Ordinance,
1956, and shall be read as one with the Cot-
22/1933. ton Export Levy Ordinance, 1933, as amend-
8/1937 ed, hereinafter called the Principal Ordin-
ance.


Amendment of
section 3 of
Principal
Ordinance.


2. Section 3 of the Principal Ordinance
is hereby amended by the substitution of the
words "one and a half cents" for the words
"one half penny" occurring therein.

Proclamation dated 16th May, 1956, bringing into
operation the Slaughter and Exportation of
Livestock and Poultry (Prohibition) Ordi-
nance, 1955, (No. 19 of 1595).

BY THE ACTING ADMINISTRATOR OF THE
PRESIDENCY OF SAINT CHRISTOPHER NEVIS
AND ANGUILLA.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section 9 of the Slaughter and Ex-
portation of Livestock and Poultry (Prohibition)
Ordinance, 1955 (No. 19 of 1955) it is provided that the
said Ordinance shall come into operation on such date
as the Governor shall fix by proclamation published in
the Gazette.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, HENRY ANTHONY
CAMILLO HOWARD, Acting Administrator of the
Presidency of Saint Christopher Nevis and Anguilla, do
by this my proclamation declare that the said Ordinance
shall come into operation on the 31st day of May, 1956.
AND all Her Majesty's Officers and loving subjects
in the Presidency of Saint Christopher Nevis and Anguiila
and all others whom it may concern are hereby required
to take due notice hereof and give their ready obedience
accordingly.

GIVEN at the Government Hous,. Saint Christo-
pher this 16rh day of May, 1956, and in the fifth
year of Her Majesty's reign.

The Cotton Protection (Amendment) Regu-
lations, 1956.

The Cotton Protection (Amendment) Regulations,
1956, made by the Governor in Council on
the 6th day of June 1956, under section 43 of
the Cotton Ordinance, 1946 (No. 2 of 1947).


1. SHORT TITLE. These Regulations may be cited
as the Cotton Protection (Amendment) Regulations, 1956,
and shall be read as one with the Cotton Protection Regu-
lations, 1947 (S. R. & 0. 1947, No. 7) hereinafter referred
to as the Principal Regulations.
2 AMENDMENT. The Proviso to Regulation 3 of the
Principal Regulations shall be deleted and the following
substituted therefore :-
"Provided that an extension of time may be grant-
ed by the Agricultural Superintendent with the ap-
proval of the Governor -
(a) In the event of a breakdown of machinery
in any ginnery; and
(b) When, on account of the large size of the
crop or of shortage of labour they are satis-
fied that such extension is necessary."
3. RESCISSION. The Cotton Protection (Amendment)
Regulations, 1952 (S. R. & 0. 1952, No. 18) are
hereby rescinded.

by Proclamation published in the Gazette.

Pensionable Offices


The Pensionable Offices Order, 1956, dated 3rd July,
1956, made by the Governor in Council under
section 2(1) of the Pensions Act, 1947 (No.
12/1947).

1. SHORT TITLE. This Order may be cited as the
Pensionable Offices Order, 1956.

2. PENSIONABLE OFFICES. The offices specified
in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be pension-
able offices within the meaning of the Pensions Act, 1947.
3. REVOCATION. The Pensionable Offices Order,
1954 (Leeward Islands General Government Statutory Rule
and Order 1954 No. 56) is hereby revoked.

4. COMMENCEMENT. This Order shall be deemed
to have come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1956.
