The Administrator has been pleased
to award the Scholarship to the Girls'
High School, donated by the Sons and
Daughters of St. Christopher Society
in America, to Valerie Charles of
Basseterre.


5th April, 1955.

The attention of the general public
is drawn to the arrival in the Presi-
dency of a survey team from the
Directorate of Colonial Surveys.
The mission of this team is the map-
ping of the islands of the Presidency,
and it is expected that they will be so
engaged for the next six to eight
months.

In order to carry out their work it
will be necessary for the team to have
access to all private roads and tracks,
and to be able to traverse private
lands. The co-operation of all land
owners in the Presidency is there-
fore sought.
It is possible that in the course of
this operation a certain amount of
minor damage may be incurred, and


in such case compensation will be
pavable on a scale to be agreed by an
independent public authority. Wher-
ever possible owners will he notified
beforehand of any damage which is
felt to be necessary. In all cases
claims for damage should be address-
ed to the Directorate of Colonial Sur-
veys, c/o the Administrator's Uffice,
bt Kitts.

An Ordinance to make provisions for
the marketing of cotton produced
in the island of Nevis.

ENAC ED by the Legislature of
Saint Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as
follows:-

I. This Ordinance may be cited as
the Nevis Cotton Marketing Ordinance,
1955.

2. In this Ordinance the expression
"Association" means the Nevis Cotton
Growers Association incorporated by the
Nevis Cotton Growers Association Ordi-
nance, 1938.

3. Notwithstanding the provisions
of any law to the contrary, no person
other than the Association shall enter
into any contract for or in connection
with the sale of any cotton produced in
the island of Nevis and which is to be
exported or has been exported from the
Presidency.

5. Any person who acts in contra-

Penalty. this Ordinance shall be guilty of an
offence and shall be liable on summary
conviction before a Magistrate to a fine
not exceeding one thousand dollars or to
imprisonment for six months or to both
such fine and imprisonment.

An Ordinance to provide for the ser-
vices of the Presidency of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla
for the financial year commenc-
ing the Ist January and ending
the 31st December, 1955.
ENACTED by the Legislature of
Saint Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as
follows:-


I. This Ordinance may be cited for
all purposes as the Appropriation Ordi-
nance, 1955.
2. There shall be and there is here-
by granted to Her Majesty the Queen for
and during the period from Ist January,
1955 to 31st December, 1955 inclusive, the
sum of Four million five hundred and
thirty-four thousand seven hundred and
sixty-one dollars over and above the
sums granted and provided under the
Acts and Ordinances in force in the
Colony and this Presidency, to be ap-
plied and expended in the manner and

3. The said sum of Four million five
hundred and thirty-four thousand seven
hundred and sixty-one dollars shall be,
and the same is hereby declared to be
charged upon and made payable from
and out of the General Revenue and
other funds of the said Presidency.


Authority to 4. The Treasurer of the said Presi-
pay. dency is hereby authorized and required
from time to time upon the order or
warrant of the Governor to pay the sev-
eral sums appropriated by and in the said
Schedule to the several services therein
mentioned, as the said order or warrant
shall direct, out of the General Revenue
and other funds of the said Presidency
without further order or formality.
