Declaration dated February 3, 1955.
made under Section 3 of the Land
Acquisition Act, 1944 (No 11/1944),
for the acquisition of certain land in
the Presidency of Saint Christopher
Nevis and Anguilla required for pub-
lic purposes.


IT IS HEREBY DECLARED that
the Governor in Council with the ap-
proval of the Legislative Council of the
Presidency of Saint Christopher Nevis
and Anguilla considers that the land
described in the Schedule hereto, sit-
uate in the Island of Anguilla in the
said Presidency, should be acquired
for public purposes, namely, for the


erection of a health outpost, in the
said Presidency.
SCHEDULE.
An area of approximately 11j of an
acre situate at South Hill in the island
of Anguilla in the Presidency of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla, and
bounded as follows, that is to say, on
the North and West by lands of
Frances Ann Carty; on the South by
the public main road; and on the East
by a private road.

Supplies and Services (Transitional Pow-

1. CI['ATION. This order may be cited as the
Prices Control (Amendment) Order, 1955 and shall be
read as one with the Prices Control Order (No. 26) 1942,
as amended, hereinafter referred to as the Principal
Order.
2. AMENDMENT. Parts I and II of the Schedule

An Ordinance to amend the Firearms Ordi-
nance, 1951.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Governor and
Legislative Council of Saint Christopher Nevis and
Anguilla as follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Fire. Short Title.
arms (Amendment) Ordinance, 1954 and shall be
read as one with the Firearms Ordinance, 1951.

adapted to diminish the noise or flash caused by
firing the weapon;

but does not include -

(a) any toy-pistol or toy-gun from
which any shot, bullet or missile is discharged by
the force of a spring alone ; and

(b) any firearm which is preserved for
antiquarian interest and not for use ; ".

3. Section 21 of the Principal Ordinance is
hereby amended by the addition thereto after sub-
section (2) of the following new subsection num-
bered (3) :-

"Penalty. (3) Any person who contra-
venes the provisions of subsection
(2) of this section, shall be guilty
of an offence against this Ordi-
nance and on summary conviction
be liable to a penalty not exceed-
ing one hundred dollars."

4. The proviso to subsection (2) of section 25
of the Principal Ordinance is hereby amended-

(i) by the substitution of the words "any
government officer" for the words "any
Warden or other public officer" occur-
ring in paragraph (b) and the substi-
tution of the word "Government" for
the word "Public" occurring in the
marginal note to the said paragraph;

(ii) by the addition of the word "and"
after the semi-colon at the end of
paragraph (e);

(iii) by the deletion of the word "and" at
the end of paragraph (f) and the sub-
stitution of a full-stop for the semi-
colon before that word; and

(iv) by the deletion of paragraph (g).

5. Section 41 of the Principal Ordinance is
hereby repealed.

shall be read as one with the Nevis Public Library
Ordinance, 1911, hereinafter called the Principal 611911.

An Ordinance to amend further the Passen-
gers' Ordinance, 1908.

ENACTED by the Legislature of Saint Chris-
topher Nevis and Anguilla as follows:-


1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Pas-
sengers (Amendment) Ordinance, 1954, and shall
be read as one with the Passengers' Ordinance,
1908, as amended, hereinafter called the Principal
Ordinance.

2. After section 4 of the Principal Ordinance
the following section shall be inserted:-

4A. Every ship taking passengers
from the Presidency shall, before leav-
ing the Presidency, be provided with
life-saving appliances and lifeboat
accommodation as specified in the
First Schedule to this Ordinance:

ship registered outside the Colony
which shall come to the Presidency
with passengers in transit for any
other place and does not take passen-
gers other than the said intransit pas-
sengers from the Presidency."

3. Section 5 of the Principal Ordinance is
hereby amended by substituting the words "Second
Schedule" for the word "Schedule" occurring in
subsection (1) thereof.

4. Section 7 of the Principal Ordinance is
hereby amended -

(a) by the insertion immediately after the
word "Ordinance" occurring in the third
and fourth lines thereof of a comma and
the following words:-

"or not being provided with the life-
saving appliances and lifeboat accom-
modation prescribed in the First Sche-
dule to this Ordinance"; and

(b) by the insertion in the marginal note
thereto, between the word "passengers"
and the immediately following full-stop,
of the following words:-

"and for failing to provide the prescrib-
ed life-saving appliances and lifeboat
accommodation".

5. The Schedule to the Principal Ordinance
shall be renamed Second Schedule ".

6. The following schedule shall be inserted
as the First Schedule to the Principal Ordi-
nance:-


"FIRST SCHEDULE

1. Very ship shall carry such number of boats as may, in
the opinion of the Treasurer,,be sufficient to carry all the
persons on board.

2. Every such boat shall be provided as follows:-

(a) with a full single-banked complement of oars; and

(b) with a breaker or other vessel properly constructed
and of sufficient size which shall, be kept filled with
fresh water.

3. (a) The carrying capacity of such a boat shall be deter-
mined by the Treasurer.

(b) The space in each such boat shall be sufficient for
the seating of the persons carried in it and for the
proper use of the oars.

4. Every such boat shall be either hung under davits or so
placed that it can be easily and quickly got into the
water.

5. A ship of 100 feet or over in length shall carry at least
four lifebuoys, and if under 100 feet at least two life-
buoys. Every such lifebuoy shall be built of solid cork
fitted with beckets securely seized and with life lines 15
fathoms in length. The lifebuoys shall be so placed as
to be readily accessible to all person on board and so
that their position may be known to all persons on
board.

6, Every ship shall carry one life-jacket, approved by the
Treasurer, for each person on board."

Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as follows :-


1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Build-
ing Lots (Provision of Amenities) (Amendment)
Ordinance, 1954, and shall be read as one with the
Building Lots (Provision of Amenities) Ordinance,
1949, as amended, hereinafter called the Principal
Ordinance.
2. The Principal Ordinance is hereby amend-
ed by substituting the words "in or within one mile
of the town of Basseterre or in the town of Sandy
Point" for the words "in the town of Basseterre"
wherever the latter words occur in the said Ordi-
nance.

An Ordinance to provide for a change of
the title "The Crown Agents for the
Colonies" to "The Crown Agents for
Oversea Governments and Adminis-
trations".
ENACTED by the Legislature of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Crown Short Title.
Agents (Change of Title) Ordinance, 1954.
2. All references to the Crown Agents for the Change of
Colonies in any ordinance or regulation or in any title.
instrument issued pursuant to a statutory power
and in force or having effect in the Presidency on
or after the 1st day of April, 1954, shall be con-
strued as references to the Crown Agents for Over-
sea Governments and Administrations.
3. This Ordinance shall be deemed to have Commence-
come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1954. ment.
