Saint Christopher Nevis and Anguilla
No. 5 of 1953.


An Ordinance to amend further the
Land and House Tax Ordinance,
1913.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Govern-
or and Legislative Council of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as
follows:-


I. This Ordinance may be cited as
the Land and House Tax (Amendment)
Ordinance, 1953, and shall be read as one
with the Land and House Tax Ordinance,
1913, as amended, hereinafter called the
Principal Ordinance.

2. Schedule "A" to the Principal
Ordinance shall have effect as if for the
first three paragraphs thereof there were
substituted the following paragraphs--
"On all cultivated land situate in
the island of Saint Christopher a tax at
the rate per annum of three dollars per
acre on the acreage of such land.
On all uncultivated land situate in
the island of Saint Christopher a tax at
the rate per annum of fifty cents per acre
on the acreage of such land.

On all cultivated and uncultivated
land situate in the island of Nevis a tax
at the rate per annum of forty cents per
acre on the acreage of such land."
Commence- 3. This Ordinance shall come into
operation on Ist January 1954.

An Ordinance to sanction certain
payments from the Public Treasury
in excess of the sums placed on the
Estimates for the year 1952.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Govern-
or and Legislative Council of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla as
follows:-


I. This Ordinance may be cited as
the Supplementary Appropriation (1952)
Ordinance, 1953.

2. rhe various sums of money set
forth in the Schedule to this Ordinance,
amounting in all to three hundred and
ninety thousand, eight hundred and
thirty dollars and forty four cents, and
drawn from the Public Treasury in
the financial year from the Ist January
to the 31st December, 1952 inclusive,
under the warrant of the Governor but
not provided for in the Estimates for the
said financial year, are hereby declared
to have been lawfully expended for the
services mentioned in the said Schedule.
