1953, No. 25.


Public Places and Scavenging.


The Public Places and Scavenging (Amend-
ment) Regulations, 1953, dated o1th Novem-
ber, 1953, made by the Governor in Council
under Section 7 of the Basseterre Ordinance
(No. 3 of 1906).
I. CITATION. These Regulations may be cited
as the Public Places and Scavenging (Amendment)
Regulations, 1953 and shall be read as one with the
Regulations relating to "Public Places and Scaven-
ging" made the 12th day of October, 1922, as amended,
hereinafter called the Principal Regulations.
2. SUBSTITUTION OF REGULATION 24
OF PRINCIPAL REGULATIONS. For regula-
tion 24 of the Principal Regulations the following is
hereby substituted:-
"24. (a) No person building or repairing any
building shall, except with the previous per-
mission of the Central Board of Health, or any
duly authorized member or officer of the Board,
deposit any debris or materials in any street
adjacent to the place where such building or
repairing is being carried out and every person
engaged in building or repairing as aforesaid
shall conform to such directions as the Central
Board of Health may give to insure public
safety.
(b) No person holding any public sale shall,
except with the previous permission of the Central








Board of Health, or any duly authorized member or
officer of the Board, occupy any part of the street
beyond the frontage of the house or store of the
person holding such sale."

1953, No. 28.


Refund of Customs Duty.


Resolution of the Legislative Council of Saint
Christopher Nevis and Anguilla dated the
22nd day of December 1953, and made under
the Customs Duties Ordinance, 1927, as
amended by the Customs Duties (Amend-
ment) Ordinance, 1936.


BE IT RESOLVED that the sum of twenty-
seven dollars and eighty-nine cents ($27.89) being
moneys paid into the Treasury as import duty on
articles purchased locally for use in connection with
the installation of a new electrical system on the pre-
mises of the Roman Catholic Churches at Old Road
and Sandy Point in the Island of Saint Christopher,
which would by virtue of item 43 of the Second
Schedule to the Customs Duties Ordinance, 1927 (No.
6 of 1927), as amended by the Customs Duties (Amend-
ment) Ordinance, 1936 (No. 13 of 1936), have been
entitled to exemption from the payment of customs
duty upon importation, if so resolved by the Legisla-
tive Council, be refunded.
