The extension en-US takes effect immediately and will run en-US until at least Oct. 5.en-US At the May meeting, representatives en-US of several large beachside employers en-US said the two hour parking put them at a en-US competitive disadvantage compared to en-US downtown businesses that enjoy a three en-US hour parking limit. en-US 3 en-USsome of the things people do beachside, Ms. en-US Irish said you just cant do it in two hours. en-US As a compromise, we thought it would be en-US wonderful for the service industry and for en-US the hotels, which bring us customers ... to en-US help the other business and their customers en-US that want to have leeway to do what theyd en-US like to do.en-US Ms. Irish said shed approve of giving en-US three-hour parking a chance for six months en-US while the city explores some of the other en-US long-term solutions being discussed.en-US All City Council members agreed that en-US more comprehensive solutions were needed.en-US One of the things I think weve overen-US -en-US looked in the past is the viability of valet en-US parking on the beachside, Vice Mayor en-US Lange Sykes said. Mr. Sykes spoke of how en-US technology has advanced so that valet parken-US -en-US ing run by private companies can use apps en-US with a GPS system to become much more en-US efficient and cost effective.en-US The technology is such that a smart en-US phone user can request their car 15 minutes en-US prior to leaving, Mr. Sykes said, suggesting en-US council put out a request for proposals from en-US companies to run a valet parking service en-US using a series of valet stands on Ocean Dr. en-US and Cardinal Dr., working with the city and en-US parking in Riverside Park or an alternate en-US designated place.en-US Mr. Sykes suggested that the larger en-US employers whose employees are taking up en-US much of the parking could help subsidize en-US the cost for their employees to use the valet en-US system. He also suggested that some of the en-US larger employers might have to develop en-US their own shuttle system for employees.en-US Council Member Laura Moss, who has en-US been the driving force to change parking en-US back to three hours, agreed that her proen-US-en-US posed change would be a short term soluen-US-en-US tion. Ms. Moss agreed with the city sending en-US out an RFP for valet parking, but wanted to en-US address the three hour issue first.en-US I spoke with the three hoteliers who were en-US here at the May 15 meeting two days later, AREA'S BEST BUSINESS REVIEW Presented by: Metro News All Rights Reserved. 1-918-234-7768Spending more and buying less? Even more en-US mind boggling is the new version of the en-US Florida Stand your Ground Law that lets en-US them get away with murder.en-US The recent determination by an Assistant en-US States Attorney in Indian River County that en-US a self-professed victim of a purported threat en-US by an unarmed citizen in a supposed road en-US rage incident cannot be charged with any en-US crime defies the common sense thinking of en-US most people.en-US PTSD requires a medical diagnosis and en-US symptoms may include nightmares or en-US unwanted memories of the trauma, avoiden-US-en-US ance of situations that bring back memories en-US of the trauma, heightened reactions, anxiety, en-US or depressed mood.en-US People with PTSD may experience one or en-US more of the following symptoms: en-US Behavioral: agitation, irritability, hostility, en-US hypervigilance, self-destructive behavior, or en-US social isolationen-US Psychological: flashback, fear, severe anxen-US -en-US iety, or mistrusten-US Mood: loss of interest or pleasure in activen-US -en-US ities, guilt, or lonelinessen-US Sleep: insomnia or nightmaresen-US Also common: emotional detachment or en-US unwanted thoughtsen-US Sanity and common sense needs to be en-US restored in our Country and Legal System. en-US How can anyone feel safe when a legal deteren-US -en-US mination of complete innocence and no en-US prosecution in the death of an unarmed peren-US -en-US son is allowed to be accepted as the correct en-US solution to a murder? en-US 7 en-USapproval from voters to pass, per Florida en-US Constitution, Article XI, Section 5(e).en-US For the November, 2018 general election, en-US 13 proposed amendments will be on the en-US ballot. Of these, eight were submitted by the en-US CRC, three by the legislature, and two by en-US citizen petition initiative.en-US The CRC meets once every 20 years. Floren-US -en-US ida is the only state with a constitutional en-US amendment commission.en-US The CRC, created by Article XI, Section 2 en-US of the Florida Constitution, has 37 memen-US -en-US bers. The constitution sets the Attorney en-US General as the only automatic member. The en-US Governor appoints 15 commissioners en-US including the commission chair. The Presien-US -en-US dent of the Senate appoints nine, the Speaken-US -en-US er of the House of Representatives appoints en-US nine, and the Chief Justice of the Florida en-US Supreme Court appoints three commissionen-US-en-US ers.en-US The Treasure Coast was represented on en-US the CRC by Bob Solari of Vero Beach and en-US Jacqui Thurlow-Lippisch of Sewalls Point. en-US Both were appointed by the President of the en-US Senate, Joe Negron. en-US The CRC held 15 public meetings across en-US the state and reviewed thousands of public en-US comments, before rejecting some proposals en-US and combining others into its eight proen-US -en-US posed amendments.en-US Making this years process especially chalen-US-en-US lenging is that the CRC bundled different en-US issues into the same amendment. Of the en-US amendments proposed by the CRC, only en-US two, No. 12 (Lobbying and Abuse of office en-US by Public en-US Officers,) en-US and No. 13 en-US (Ends Dog en-US Racing) en-US deal with en-US one clear-en-US cut issue. en-US Each of the en-US other six en-US from the en-US CRC comen-US-en-US bined different proposals.en-US These will be the most difficult decisions en-US for voters, as there are many people who en-US agree with part of an amendment and disen-US -en-US agree with the other parts, but you must en-US vote either in favor or against the whole en-US bundle. For example, No. 9 prohibits offen-US -en-US shore oil and gas drilling and prohibits vapen-US -en-US ing in enclosed indoor workplaces.en-US Listed below are brief summaries of the en-US amendments on the ballot. Each is excerpten-US -en-US ed from the state website, and in some cases en-US there have been disputes regarding whether en-US the states summary accurately reflects the en-US proposed amendment. Voters are urged to en-US do research and review the pros and cons. en-US Search the internet for the title and number en-US of the amendment and you will find a varien-US -en-US ety of viewpoints for each.en-US (1) Increased Homestead Property Tax en-US Exemption, proposed by the Florida legislaen-US -en-US ture. They are very much willing en-US to work with us on it.en-US City Manager Jim OConnor said switchen-US-en-US ing the parking signs would not be too diffien-US-en-US cult.en-US Weve had three hour parking in the en-US past, Mr. OConnor said. We still have the en-US two signs for two hour and three hour parken-US -en-US ing, so they can be put up pretty quickly if en-US the council chooses to do so.en-US One of the other possible solutions raised en-US concerned shared parking. Mr. Sykes said en-US council and business owners should considen-US -en-US er an arrangement where businesses that en-US close at a certain time could work with the en-US city to allow those spaces to be used by cusen-US -en-US tomers of other businesses.en-US Council Member Val Zudans asked that en-US the Council not lose sight of the primary en-US cause of the parking shortage.en-US The focus is on about 125 employees en-US from the four hotels, Dr. Zudans said. That en-US is what we have to solve. Dr. Zudans en-US claimed that employees of the larger busien-US -en-US nesses are wiping parking enforcement en-US chalk marks off their tires, so that whether en-US the time limit is two or three hours, they en-US should consider going to an electronic monen-US -en-US itoring system with scanning of license en-US plates that doesnt rely on chalk.en-US Dr. Zudans also said that golf shuttles en-US running back and forth from the parks to en-US the businesses during the work day would en-US alleviate some of the problems and allow all-en-US day employee parking, possibly at South en-US Beach.en-US Regarding the switch to three hour parken-US-en-US ing, Dr. Zudans said It has to be temporary en-US because we cannot just kick this down the en-US road again. My concern is that six months is en-US too long because were now in June, and six en-US months would take it to December. Dr. en-US Zudans noted that many snowbirds will be en-US coming back to town in four months, in en-US October. Dr. Zudans suggested that the temen-US -en-US porary extension of parking go only until en-US October, with the added benefit of putting en-US pressure on Council to come up with other en-US solutions faster. It shouldnt take us more en-US than three or four months to find a soluen-US -en-US tion, Dr. Zudans said.en-US The Council agreed it had consensus, so en-US parking will be immediately returned to 3 en-US hours beachside from now through Oct. 5. en-US There was also consensus to have city staff en-US put out an RFP for valet parking that would en-US utilize phone apps.en-USParkingen-USFrom page 3en-USThe Jungle Club Volleyball en-US Academy held their first co-ed en-US tournament of the season on en-US Saturday, June 9 at the Junen-US-en-US gle Club Sports Complex in en-US Vero Beach. The hospitality here made us feel very en-US welcome and set the mood for the day and en-US evening at magical. Somehow, I en-US managed. en-US When most people think about golf at en-US Walt Disney World, they think of the Palm en-US and Magnolia Courses where the PGA Tour en-US once played. Some of us however, are old en-US enough to remember when the Tour also en-US played at Disneys Lake Buena Vista Course en-US (en-USwww.golfwdw.comen-US).en-US The PGA Tour last used the Lake Buena en-US Vista Course during the Disney Classic in en-US 1997. The Tour may have left, but for me, en-US the Lake Buena Vista Course is my favorite en-US on the property. Its not long by any means, en-US but you can see some of the very-back tees en-US the Tour added over time to lengthen the en-US course enough to challenge the top en-US professionals.en-US What Lake Buena Vista lacks in length, it en-US makes up for with challenging greens, en-US tree-lined fairways, lots of bunkers and en-US some of the most beautiful trees and fauna en-US on any of the Disney tracks.en-US Designed by Joe Lee, LBV has four sets of en-US tees, playing to a par of 72 for the men and en-US 73 for the ladies. The very back tees play to en-US just a couple yards over 6,800. The forward en-US tees come in at just over 5,200 yards.en-US The course starts you off with a par-5 en-US that should allow you to get your round en-US going early. While its not a long hole, at 514 en-US yards from the back tees, it is fraught with en-US danger. en-US The front nine wanders its way through en-US pastel vacation villas and past a lighthouse. en-US The short par-3 seventh features an island en-US green.en-US Holes eight and nine are the number one en-US and five toughest holes on the course. The en-US par-5 eighth will test you on your second en-US shot as the woods encroach from both sides en-US the closer you get to the green.en-US The back nine features dense woods en-US surrounding the course. At one point you en-US will tee off over a canal as a Disney boat en-US meanders by.en-US Eighteen is a stout par four that measures en-US well over 400 yards. The hole rewards the en-US daring golfer who can play a tee shot from en-US left to right with a shorter approach.
