I en-US agree with this article. Vocational Rehabilien-US -en-US tation has a lot of resources and help to get en-US disable people back to work. And Employ U en-US works with them to help out, and that is en-US great. But the jobs in the area does not seem en-US to want to employ disabled workers. I wish en-US the employers would work with Vocational en-US Rehabilitation and Employment agents to en-US help people with disabilities that can work, en-US get work. The employment agencies and en-US rehabilitation are doing a great job but they en-US need a little more help getting people back en-US to work. This help will be a big help to all of en-US the people that are wanting to work again en-US and also the agencies that are working hard en-US to help people become employed again.en-USMedical care is not en-US what it used to be Upon leaving my specialist' s off ice recent en-US-en-US ly, I drove home approximately 15 miles en-US and had a lot to ponder over. The week en-US before I had my car serviced, and felt it en-US received more attention than I did by my en-US physician. Overbooking by medical staff en-US equals long waiting times; no problem, I en-US had my tablet, they had WiFi. en-US Being seen by a medical assistant, who en-US assumed that I knew the receptionist should en-US have downloaded my current meds (that en-US was the inference), no problem. You read en-US them to me, and I will yay or nay.en-US I was then seen by a PA-C who has no en-US bedside manner, no problem, she's never en-US been friendly and is the epitome of complaen-US -en-US cency. Why choose the field, when your en-US attitude is so poor? en-US My waiting time was approaching an en-US hour and still no doctor, no problem. en-US With my medical record on the computen-US -en-US er in plain sight and boredom setting in, I en-US took a gander. No mention of my succinct en-US description of my condition to date, just a en-US sentence of my personality as determined en-US by Miss Congeniality. In addition, the exam en-US from my first consult in 2017, including my en-US under weight status noted, all appeared as if en-US current. Of course, none of this was rectien-US -en-US fied. No it's assumed that Medicare will en-US pay for the higher level evaluation, despite en-US the inaccuracy. en-US I brought this to the doctor's attention en-US and I was simply blown off. I left with a en-US prescription written incorrectly, per the en-US pharmacy, along with a follow-up visit, not en-US with the doctor, despite my request. No it en-US was with the PA-C who has failed to estaben-US -en-US lish a patient following after 15 plus years en-US with the doctor. en-US I was seen by the medical assistant, his physician assistant, and minut es with the en-USspecialist (who also could be heard taking en-US personal phone calls on my time). All in all, en-US little to nothing was accomplished, I needed en-US and deserved more quality time than en-US received. Now we have a problem. en-USInternet should be a utilityen-USI have never had Cable TV because I get en-US everything I need from an antenna and by en-US renting DVDs. But the Internet has become en-US a necessity. Banking, taxes, airline tickets, en-US hotel reservations, and municipal billing en-US have all moved online. Even my doctors, en-US dentist, and other providers are now using en-US email to contact me. There is no way anyone en-US can get by without Internet service these en-US days.en-US So why is my Internet bill so expensive? It en-US is now twice as expensive as my water bill en-US and about the same as my electric bill. How en-US can that make any sense? en-US The Water Department has to obtain en-US water, filter it, treat it, and then pass it en-US through a maze of pipes to my house. The en-US Electric Company has to buy fuel, generate en-US electricity, and then pass it through their en-USAnthony Inswasty/staff photographeren-USJohn Moitozo and Oscar (Meyer) receive a blessing from Cantor en-US Alisa Forman. wires to my house. en-USThe cable company doesnt have to generen-US -en-US ate anything because all my Internet content en-US comes from my bank, or Google, or Faceen-US -en-US book, or Wikipedia, or Amazon, or the weben-US-en-US sites of various municipal services. All the en-US cable company has to do is pass my content en-US through their tiny wires to my house.en-US I use less than 10% of my GB allowance, en-US yet the cable company has no plan for us en-US seniors that are on limited income. I am en-US considering terminating my service and en-US going to the library for Internet. en-US I think the city should make Internet seren-US -en-US vice a utility. Its no longer a luxury only for en-US the people that can afford it. en-USRobo callsen-USThe best way to reduce robo calls is to en-US not answer. Screen your calls via answering en-US machine. Don't pick up the phone period. en-US It takes awhile, but they will reduce in freen-US -en-US quency. The Do Not Call registry is useless. en-US These annoying calls are here to stay. Being en-US unable to disconnect (the phone to avoid) en-US these calls in the event of having to call 911 en-US (means they) SHOULD BE OUTLAWED!en-USInspections were a hassleen-USFlorida had auto inspections for many en-US years. It was wildly unpopular. A study en-US showed that of the top 50 causes of auto en-US accidents, equipment problems, the kind of en-US things that are picked up during the annual en-US inspection, was number 49. It simply wasn't en-US cost effective.en-US Everybody loathed it. It was offered weeken-US -en-US days only, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., so you had to en-US take off work. Long lines of cars idling, waiten-US-en-US ing, sometimes for hours, constant exhaust en-US fumes and pollution. Hot days, hot cars, hot en-US tempers. The thousands of inspectors had to en-US be paid, out of our taxes. Commercial propen-US -en-US erty, the inspection stations, off the tax rolls.en-US Former Gov. Bob Martinez promised to en-US end auto inspections and was elected en-US because of this promise. Modern cars are en-US also far more durable than they were in the en-US 1950s, they simply don't need constant en-US inspections. If you really want to make our en-US roads safer, put down the cell phone and en-US drive. en-USOscar's a good boy!

en-US 10 en-USINDIAN RIVER SHORES The Indian en-US River Shores Community Center, a rental en-US facility located between the Town Hall and en-US the Public Safety Building on Fred Tuerk en-US Dr., was demolished on April 20 due to en-US structural issues that had made the building en-US potentially unsafe. On April 26, the Town en-US Council approved plans to build a new en-US Community Center.en-US The contractor was selected for the en-US Community Center rebuild, which will en-US begin soon and could take anywhere from en-US eight months to a year, said Town Clerk en-US Laura Aldrich. Summit Construction was en-US chosen after careful and thorough value en-US engineering efforts from Committee Chairen-US -en-US man Jerry Weick.en-US The building was acquired in 1982 and en-US completely renovated in 2007, with 2,052 en-US square feet and a maximum capacity of 171 en-US for weddings, birthday and anniversary paren-US -en-US ties, meetings and bridge club games, and en-US other special events. It featured a full kitchen-US-en-US en, dance floor, and covered patio.en-US Plans for the new community center had en-US been under discussion since February, with en-US council members and residents debating en-US both cost and size. Some felt the plans en-US should consider future development, with en-US building official Jose Guanch of the Town en-US Building Department noting that the town en-US has potential for at least 200 more homes en-US that could be built in the next few years in en-US pre-approved subdivisions.en-US Others, including Councilman Richard en-US Haverland, argued that the existing center en-US was underused.en-US Council members had hoped to keep the en-US cost of the new building around $500,000, en-US but the two bids received were each over en-US $800,000. After a few changes that resulted en-US in one bid dipping below $800,000, the en-US council members voted to proceed with en-US Summit Construction, a general contractor en-US located on Flight Safety Drive near the airen-US -en-US port in Vero Beach.en-US Because Summit Construction said the en-US building wont be ready until next spring, en-US the 2018 elections, normally held at the en-US Community Center, will be moved to Christ en-US by the Sea Methodist Church, 3755 A1A in en-US Vero Beach.en-US Once completed, the Community Center en-US will be available for rental by the hour or by en-US the day, for both residents and non-resien-US -en-US dents. When no response was received, a en-US second letter was sent on March 7, disputing en-US the invoices and refusing payment.en-US On March 16, The Goodyear Tire & Ruben-US -en-US ber Company submitted an appeal of the en-US decision. On April 4, County Administrator en-US Jason Brown responded, denying the appeal. en-US On April 16, Goodyear submitted an appeal en-US of the decision of the County Administrator en-US to the Board of County Commission.en-US The county has already paid Goodyear en-US for most of the tires, but is holding off on en-US the rest on the recommendation of County en-US Administrator Brown.en-US I want to make sure there was no en-US involvement from anyone at the Goodyear en-US store, that may have been knowledgeable en-US about what was happening, Mr. Brown told en-US the May 1 County Commissioners meeting.en-US Mr. Brown said that after Fire Rescue en-US changed which Goodyear store it was puren-US -en-US chasing tires from in Dec. 2016, from the en-US store on Miracle Mile to the Goodyear locaen-US -en-US tion on 58th Ave., the monthly purchases of en-US tires went up to $14,697, compared to a en-US prior monthly average of $6,500 from the en-US Miracle Mile store.en-US Mr. Brown added that the invoices en-US seemed to indicate the same Goodyear en-US salesperson at the Miracle Mile location, en-US and then that person appearing again at the en-US 58th Ave. location.en-US I want to make sure there was no knowlen-US -en-US edge by any of the Goodyear folks about en-US what was happening, Mr. Brown said.en-US Goodyear was represented at the meeting en-US by Jim Pettit, Regional District Manager en-US Retail, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Comen-US -en-US pany. Mr. Pettit argued that Mr. Burkeen en-US was an agent of the county authorized to en-US purchase tires, and had been doing so for en-US several years, so Goodyear was not responen-US-en-US sible for challenging Mr. Burkeen about the en-US purchases.en-US The county commissioners stated that en-US Goodyear bore some responsibility.en-US Comm. OBryan said that the agreement en-US did not provide for loose tires to be sold, but en-US that they would be installed on the fleet en-US vehicle by Goodyear. He felt that Goodyear en-US should have been suspicious about the puren-US -en-US chase of so many loose tires.en-US Comm. OBryan also challenged the idea, en-US presented in the sheriffs investigative en-US report, that Mr. Burkeen said he was using en-US some of the loose tires to reimburse citizens en-US who filed complaints concerning tire damen-US -en-US age from potholes.en-US The amount of tires going out of that en-US store, and the circumstances and the volume en-US of tires, to me would have raised some en-US warning flags that I think Goodyear has en-US some responsibility for. ... I have a big conen-US -en-US cern about a lack of any oversight from en-US Goodyear, Comm. OBryan said.en-US Comm. Bob Solari also felt Goodyear en-US should have noticed the pattern, saying that en-US in his 37 years living in the county, Ive not en-US heard of one person in this county, on counen-US -en-US ty asphalt roads as opposed to dirt roads, en-US thats lost a tire from a pothole. Im sure its en-US happened, but its certainly not something en-US that happens with some regularity.en-US Comm. Solari said that Goodyear had the en-US responsibility to open their eyes and ask en-US some questions. He agreed the county en-US should let the question go through legal en-US channels as the County Administrator is en-US doing before paying.en-US After getting input from the other Comen-US-en-US missioners, Comm. OBryan asked Mr. en-US Brown to summarize his position before a en-US vote was taken.en-US My position is that the county should en-US not make any payment on these invoices en-US until and unless there is a final determinaen-US -en-US tion that there was no one complicit at the en-US Goodyear stores, no one knowledgeable en-US about what was happening, Mr. Brown said. en-US The county commissioners then voted en-US 5-0 to deny the appeal from Goodyear. en-US 17 en-USIen-USf there were three words that could en-US describe the summers in Florida it en-US would be rain, sun and humidity. These en-US conditions can make summer planting a en-US real challenge and can really put a damper en-US on your gardening for the summer months. en-US There are, however, plants that will do well en-US during the hot summer months and with en-US only minimal care. en-US If you want your planting to be as en-US carefree as possible, it is probably wise to en-US avoid planting a lot of annuals during this en-US time of year. Many of your favorites such as en-US petunia, New Guinea impatiens, vinca and en-US sometimes-even marigolds can be a real en-US chore to maintain during our hottest en-US months. You have more luck if you plant en-US hardy varieties such as Firecracker plant, en-US Panama rose, and Fire bush. Even Hibiscus en-US will do well if you water it at least a couple en-US times of week. Roses will also do well if you en-US have them in well-drained soil and spray en-US them regularly with Orthene or Orthenex en-US for disease control and to control black en-US spot. en-US If you want a great and fast growing en-US climbing vine for say an arbor or maybe a en-US large trellis, try Brown-Eyed Susan or even en-US Mandeville. The Brown-Eyed Susan is a en-US super fast grower and will overtake your en-US arbor in about a season of growing. Mine en-US even survived two hurricanes and came en-US back with flying colors. If you want some en-US lower growing color, try lantana. This is just en-US the tip of the iceberg for ideas on plants en-US that will do well during the summer. Next en-US we will talk a little about some of these en-US varieties in a little more detail.en-US One of my favorite plants to utilize en-US during the hot summer months is the en-US Firecracker bush. This fern-like plant grows en-US in a weeping pattern. The branches initially en-US start to grow upward but the weight of the en-US branch soon makes it cascade in a weeping en-US pattern. This feature makes the plant very en-US unique. The plant will produce radiant en-US clusters of bright red flowers that resemble en-US firecrackers. The flowers are about one inch en-US long and can really add a splash of color to en-US your yard. You can also put these plants in en-US hanging baskets. The plants do well in full en-US sun or will even tolerate some partial shade. en-US The plant likes a well-drained soil but also en-US likes to be watered on a regular basis. The en-US plant will require more water if planted in a en-US container than if it is planted in the ground. en-US The Firecracker plant can grow as tall as 3 en-US feet but I have seen some older plants that en-US have even been a bit larger. Cuttings can be en-US easily propagated into new plants.en-US Another interesting and colorful plant is en-US a plant called Panama Rose. This plant en-US produces vibrant reddish-pink flowers that en-US grow in clusters that resemble a rose, hence en-US the name. The plant is actually a tender en-US plant that does well during the warm en-US months but cannot tolerate cold temperaen-US -en-US tures during the winter months. The plant en-US will attract butterflies and also produces a Celebrate the LIFE of your loved ones with an ad in The Hometown News. en-US 18 en-USMen-USay 13 is a very special day and its en-US almost here. Mothers Day is the en-US biggest restaurant day of the year en-US when almost half of the population eats out. en-US Except at my house where my wife would en-US rather have me cook for her. I dont blame en-US her. I can cook anything she wants anyway en-US she likes it. We really have a great relationen-US -en-US ship. I do all the cooking and food shopen-US -en-US ping. She has a full time job but takes care en-US of all the painting, plumbing, household en-US finances, children, doctor appointments, en-US car repairs and trip organizing.en-US Most of all she is a very nice person with en-US a kind and giving heart. We really enjoy en-US each others company and it doesnt matter en-US what we do as long as its together. Does all en-US this sound familiar? en-US Yes, Moms are special. Their intense love en-US for family is legendary, but their ability to en-US nurture goes beyond words. From a en-US scratched knee to a broken heart, a word en-US from mom seems to heal all. en-US So what can we do on Mothers Day to en-US honor her? Flowers, candy and dinner its en-US not enough. Nothing is enough! We can en-US start by honoring her every day. Maybe en-US make breakfast for her on a Saturday en-US morning, say thank you when she does the en-US laundry or tell her how nice the meal was en-US she just cooked. Stop taking the everyday en-US things she does for granted and let her en-US know how much you appreciate it. You will en-US be surprised how much Mom will love it. en-US On Mothers Day, do something personal en-US like giving her a handwritten note, a en-US scrapbook of family photos, or a special en-US dinner with wine and do it yourself from en-US the heart. That will be something she will en-US remember forever. en-US So, what should you cook? I will give you en-US a couple good ideas. You decide.en-USSTEAK AU POIVREen-USIngredients en-US 2 tenderloin steaks, 6 to 8 ounces each,en-US no more than 1-1/2 inches thick en-US Kosher salt en-US 1 tablespoon whole peppercorns en-US 1 tablespoon unsalted butteren-US 1 teaspoon olive oil en-US 1 teaspoon prepared mustarden-US 1/3-cup beef stock en-US 1/3-cup brandy or bourbonen-US 1 cup heavy cream en-US Directions en-US Remove the steaks from the refrigerator en-US for at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour en-US prior to cooking. en-US Sprinkle all sides with salt. Coarsely en-US crush the peppercorns with a mortar and en-US pestle, the bottom of a cast iron skillet, or en-US using a mallet and pie pan. Spread the en-US peppercorns evenly onto a plate. Press the en-US fillets, on both sides, into the pepper until it en-US coats the surface. Set aside. en-US In a medium skillet over medium heat, en-US melt the butter and olive oil. As soon as the en-US butter and oil begin to turn golden and en-US smoke, gently place the steaks in the pan. en-US For medium-rare, cook for four minutes on en-US each side. Once done, remove the steaks, en-US cover with a plate and set aside. en-US Add brandy to the pan and carefully en-US ignite the alcohol with a long match. Gently en-US shake pan until the flames die. Return the en-US pan to medium heat and add the cream, en-US mustard, stock, and bring the mixture to a en-US boil and whisk until the sauce coats the en-US back of a spoon, about five to six minutes. en-US Season to taste with salt. en-US Add the steaks back to the pan, spoon the en-US sauce over and serve.en-USCHOCOLATE MOUSSEen-USIngredientsen-US 1 quart heavy or whipping cream en-US 14 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted en-US in the microwave. 20 -30 secondsen-US Directionsen-US Whip the cream to soft peaks and add en-US about 1/3 of the melted chocolate. It is a fast en-US growing plant with elliptic shaped leaves en-US and produces a red flower that looks similar en-US to the Firecracker plant. The plant can get en-US quite large and grow up to 12 feet high. The en-US plant is a great attractant for butterflies and en-US hummingbirds and also produces small en-US fruit clusters. The plant contains anti-bacteen-US -en-US rial chemicals and can be used topically to en-US treat insect bites and stings. The plant will en-US do well in sun or partial shade and needs en-US well drained but moist soil. The plant can en-US be used successfully as a hedge or as a en-US colorful accent plant. en-US 19 en-USIen-USts not every day that a collegiate en-US national championship is contested en-US right in your back yard. This year marks the 21st en-US straight year that the PGA Village will host en-US this championship. In all, nearly 40 colleges en-US and universities will participate in the en-US Championship.en-US Thirty two-years ago, following the en-US Jackson State University Tournament in en-US 1986, Coach Eddie Payton of Jackson en-US (Miss.) The Championship en-US was conceived to focus national attention en-US on the crisis of minority college golf, to en-US stimulate the development of golf programs en-US at the intercollegiate level and to create a en-US National Championship for Americas en-US finest minority college golfers.en-US In 2006, the PGA of America was en-US granted full operation and management of en-US the Championship and the name was en-US changed to the PGA Minority Collegiate en-US Championship.en-US This years Championship marks the en-US return of Loritz Scooter Clark, PGA, who en-US was recently named Manager of the event. en-US A prime example of the career opportunien-US -en-US ties available to participants in the event, en-US Clarks involvement dates back to 1987, en-US when he played in the inaugural Champien-US -en-US onship.en-US Clark has enjoyed tremendous success as en-US the Director of Intercollegiate Golf at en-US Bethune-Cookman University, where his en-US mens and womens teams collectively won en-US 10 PGA Minority Collegiate Championship en-US Division I titles, the most in the history of en-US the Championship. As the events manager, en-US Clark is focused on driving greater en-US engagement among colleges and universien-US -en-US ties nationwide while promoting diversity en-US and providing opportunities, both on and en-US off the course.en-US I am proud to return and manage en-US the PGA Minority Collegiate Champien-US -en-US onship, especially considering how en-US much this event has impacted my career en-US in golf, said Clark. All defending Champions en-US receive an automatic entry. The individual en-US division is comprised of male and female en-US students who are African-American, en-US Hispanic-America, Native or Alaskan en-US American, or Asian or Pacific American. en-US Florida is well represented in the en-US Championship as Bethune-Cookman en-US College (Daytona) has seen its mens and en-US womens teams combine for 14 victories. en-US The women will be looking to defend their en-US title from last year and capture their fourth en-US straight championship.
