Understanding the proposals and en-US figuring out how you wish to vote on each will en-US take some time and independent research.en-US The Florida Constitution can be changed in en-US four ways. 3 en-USJENSEN BEACH -For the last three en-US years, Treasure Coast residents and in en-US particular those who live on Hutchinson en-US Island have reaped the benefits of the en-US decades of hair-styling experience availen-US -en-US able at Gaetanos Beauty Salon. en-US The regular customers who go there en-US for a vast array of services at the full-seren-US -en-US vice salon really have to credit Owner en-US Gaetano Izzos failed attempt at retireen-US -en-US ment in 2015. After five decades of en-US hair-styling in New Jersey, he traded his en-US clippers and styling chair for a beachside en-US condo in Stuart, but quickly discovered en-US he preferred those items to idleness.en-US Ill never retire again, he said. I dont en-US like retirement.en-US Prior to relocating to Martin County, en-US Mr. Izzo owned five different salons in en-US the Garden State beginning when he was en-US 18 years old and has always studied the en-US latest trends to stay current with todays en-US hairstyles. en-US I would go to classes all over the en-US world to learn, he said. I went to classes en-US in Italy for three years and California for en-US 10 years. You can count on the stylists at en-US Gaetanos Beauty Salon to keep abreast of en-US the beauty industry. Our stylists are en-US highly trained and have studied all over en-US the world. We believe in continuous en-US learning, so our staff is always taking en-US new classes to stay up-to-date for you.en-US Patrons at Gaetanos can select from a en-US broad range of salon services, including en-US haircuts, coloring, waxing, hair extenen-US-en-US sions, wedding party hair styling and en-US keratin treatments. The briefly retired en-US entrepreneur has trained all of his staff to en-US develop a rapport with customers before en-US they begin cutting to ensure they underen-US -en-US stand exactly what the person sitting in en-US the chair wants and expects to see that en-US day. en-US You can count on the award-winning en-US stylists at Gaetanos Beauty Salon to creen-US-en-US ate a unique cut and color that suits you en-US and your lifestyle, he said. You will love en-US working with our highly trained styling en-US experts to come up with an amazing new en-US look for you.en-US You can choose from a rainbow of colen-US -en-US oring options from brands like Freelights en-US Balayage-Paint, imported Wella en-US Koleston, Blondor or our new Magma. en-US We use Sebastian and Wella Eimi shamen-US -en-US poos and conditioners, and we have en-US developed our Gaetano line of products en-US as well.en-US Mr. Izzo said customers always rave on en-US the results received from the keratin en-US hair-straightening treatments at the en-US salon. en-US You will leave Gaetanos Beauty Salon en-US feeling amazing when you take advanen-US-en-US tage of our Keratin treatment services, en-US he added. Our highly trained styling en-US experts use a product called Keratin en-US Complex to straighten and smooth your en-US hair. The three-hour Keratin treatment en-US will leave your hair smooth and straight en-US for three to six months. en-US Mr. Izzo has so enjoyed his local sucen-US -en-US cess that hes now decided to branch out en-US and expand his services to Palm Beach en-US Gardens, where hell celebrate the grand en-US opening of the second Gaetanos Beauty en-US Salon Oct. 20 at the corner of U.S. 1 and en-US PGA Boulevard. In building his golden-US-en-US en-age Florida hair-styling legacy, he is en-US building on the hair-styling legacy he en-US began in his hometown of Raritan, New en-US Jersey, where two of his children still run en-US the salon he opened more than 50 years en-US ago. He first discovered his passion for en-US hair styling at age nine, when he began en-US helping out in a Raritan barber shop and en-US inadvertently following in the footsteps en-US of his grandfather and grandmother in en-US Italy, who both worked as hairstylists. en-US Over the course of the subsequent en-US decades, he has earned numerous accoen-US-en-US lades, winning both the Worlds Champien-US-en-US onship, Global Championship, Western en-US Hemisphere Championship and several en-US smaller competitions.en-US For more information, call (772) 323-en-US 0829 or visit the website at www.gaetaen-US -en-US noshairsalon.comen-USGaetanos Beauty Salon : en-US Decades of hair-styling experienceen-USBy Donald Rodrigueen-USFor Hometown News Gaetano Izzo

Of the en-US amendments proposed by the CRC, only en-US two, No. 12 (Lobbying and Abuse of office en-US by Public Officers,) and No. 13 (Ends Dog en-US Racing) deal with one clear-cut issue. Each en-US of the other five from the CRC combined en-US different proposals.en-US These will be the most difficult decisions en-US for voters, as there are many people who en-US agree with part of an amendment and disen-US -en-US agree with the other parts, but you must en-US vote either in favor or against the whole en-US bundle. For example, No. 9 prohibits offen-US -en-US shore oil and gas drilling and prohibits vapen-US -en-US ing in enclosed indoor workplaces.en-US Listed below are brief summaries of the en-US amendments on the ballot. Each is excerpten-US -en-US ed from the state website, and in some cases en-US there have been disputes regarding whether en-US the states summary accurately reflects the en-US proposed amendment. Voters are urged to en-US do research and review the pros and cons. en-US Search the internet for the title and number en-US of the amendment and you will find a varien-US -en-US ety of viewpoints for each.en-US (1) Increased Homestead Property Tax en-US Exemption, proposed by the Florida legislaen-US -en-US ture. Increases the homestead exemption by en-US exempting the assessed valuation of homeen-US -en-US stead property greater than $100,000 and up en-US to $125,000 for all levies other than school en-US district levies.en-US (2) Limitations on Property Tax Assessen-US-en-US ments, proposed by the legislature. Permaen-US -en-US nently retain provisions currently in effect en-US that limit property tax assessment increases en-US on specified non-homestead real property, en-US except for school district taxes, to 10 percent en-US each year.en-US (3) Voter Control of Gambling in Florida, en-US proposed by a citizen initiative group called en-US Voters In Charge. Ensures that voters shall en-US have the exclusive right to decide whether to en-US authorize casino gambling by requiring that en-US all casino gambling must be approved by en-US voters. Defines casino gambling and clarien-US -en-US fies that this amendment does not conflict en-US with federal law regarding state/tribal comen-US-en-US pacts.en-US (4) Voting Restoration Amendment, citien-US-en-US zens initiative proposed by Floridians for a en-US Fair Democracy, Inc. Restores voting rights en-US of Floridians with felony convictions after en-US they complete all terms of their sentence en-US including parole or probation. The amenden-US -en-US ment would not apply to those convicted of en-US murder or sexual offenses, who would conen-US -en-US tinue to be permanently barred from voting en-US unless the Governor and Cabinet vote to en-US restore their voting rights on a case by case en-US basis.en-US (5) Supermajority Vote Required to en-US Impose, Authorize, or Raise State Taxes or en-US Fees, proposed by the legislature. Prohibits en-US the legislature from imposing, authorizing, en-US or raising a state tax or fee except by a two-en-US thirds vote of each house. This proposal en-US does not authorize a state tax or fee otheren-US -en-US wise prohibited by the Constitution and en-US does not apply to fees or taxes imposed or en-US authorized to be imposed by a county, en-US municipality, school board, or special disen-US -en-US trict.en-US Proposed amendments 6-13 are all from en-US the Constitutional Revision Commission. en-US (6) Rights of Crime Victims; Judges. Creates office of domestic en-US security and counterterrorism within en-US department of law enforcement.en-US (11) Property Rights; Removal of Obsoen-US -en-US lete Provision; Criminal Statutes. Removes en-US discriminatory language related to real en-US property rights. Removes obsolete language en-US repealed by voters. Deletes provision that en-US amendment of a criminal statute will not en-US affect prosecution or penalties for a crime en-US committed before the amendment; retains en-US current provision allowing prosecution of a en-US crime committed before the repeal of a en-US criminal statute.en-US (12) Lobbying and Abuse of Office by en-US Public Officers. 7 How to choose your car dealer en-USEarl Stewart is the owner and general en-US manager of Earl Stewart Toyota in North en-US Palm Beach. The dealership is located at 1215 en-US N. Federal Highway in Lake Park. Contact en-US him at en-USwww.earlstewarttoyota.com, en-US call en-US 561-358-1474, fax 561-658-0746 or emailen-US en-US earl@estoyota.com.en-USIen-USf youre lucky enough to have found a car en-US dealership that treats you ethically, en-US honestly and gives you fair prices on en-US vehicles, maintenance, and repairs, congraten-US -en-US ulations. Youre in the minority. Buying, leasen-US -en-US ing, repairing, or maintaining a car is an en-US unpleasant and stressful experience for most en-US customers. For proof of this I cite the Gallup en-US annual poll on Honest and Ethics in en-US Professions, conducted every year since en-US 1977. Car sales people rank at or near last for en-US the previous 45 years. Check it outhttps://en-US news.gallup.com/poll/1654/honesty-ethen-US-en-US ics-professions.aspx.en-US Theres a reason for car dealers lagging all en-US other retailers in honesty, ethics, and en-US transparency. Car dealers advertising and en-US sales tactics are frozen in time from the last en-US century. Other retailers have all had to en-US evolve and improve to survive with the en-US advent of the internet, Big Data, The Cloud, en-US the knowledge explosion, Google, A.I., etc. en-US All of this gave birth to the educated and en-US demanding consumer of the 21st century. en-US When the modern consumer is treated badly en-US by a retailer, he chooses another retailer that en-US will treat him nicely and fairly.en-US It doesnt work that way with car dealers en-US because most of them dont treat their en-US customers ethically and honestly. Why? en-US Because they are a protected species. Every en-US car dealer has a contract with manufacturer en-US that allows him to sell and service cars just en-US about any way he chooses. The only en-US exceptions to this are that the car dealer en-US mustnt commit a felony and must meet his en-US minimum quota of sales. Every car dealer en-US also has a protected market area, protected en-US by state law and by the manufacturers en-US franchise agreement. All fifty states have en-US laws on the books to protect the car dealers en-US from competition and from the manufacturen-US -en-US ers. In Florida, a car dealers franchise en-US agreement is perpetual it never expires. en-US Car dealers and their lobbying organizations en-US rank right up there with the NRA, Big en-US Insurance and Big Auto influencing our en-US legislators and regulators. If youre a en-US politician, you better treat car dealers right en-US or you wont be elected.en-US Finding a car dealer that will deal honestly en-US with you and give you a fair price is tedious en-US and time consuming, but its worth the en-US effort: en-US 1.Check out their consumer ratings on en-US Google, Yelp, Dealer Rater, and the BBB. en-US Dont just look for the highest ratings but en-US read the individual reviews. A 3-star rating en-US with a thoughtful comment is often more en-US informative than a en-US 5-star. Five stars are en-US suspicious because en-US nobodys perfect and en-US 1 star can be biased in en-US the other direction. If en-US there are very few en-US reviews, dont put en-US much weight in the en-US score. You should find en-US a dealer with at least 100 reviews.en-US 2.Check out the dealers Facebook page en-US and read the posts. Ask your friends on en-US Facebook what they think about various car en-US dealers. The social media is a powerful too, en-US but you must be careful. Use Instagram and en-US Twitter also.en-US 3.All car dealers are rated by their en-US manufacturers for customer satisfaction, en-US both in sales and service. Some manufacturen-US -en-US ers rank their dealers by the loyalty of their en-US customer that return for sales and service. en-US This is absolutely the best way to measure en-US customer satisfactiondo most of the en-US dealers customers come back to buy another en-US car and to have their car serviced. Ask the en-US dealer to see these scores; if they wont show en-US them to you, choose a different dealer.en-US 4.For South Florida Car buyers, Ive en-US compiled a list of recommended and NOT en-US recommended car dealers. You can check en-US this out atwww.GoodDealerBadDealerList.en-US com. Please be warned that you still must en-US exercise caution buying from a Good en-US Dealer. I grade these dealers on the curve. en-US A more accurate title for the list would be en-US Better Dealer Worse Dealer List.en-US 5.Ive been mystery shopping car dealers en-US weekly in South Florida for the last 11 years. en-US This is where we get most of the input to en-US score the dealers we have on this list. If en-US youre considering buying a car from a South en-US Florida dealer, theres a good chance that Ive en-US sent in a mystery shopper. You can read en-US these shopping reports athttp://www.en-US mysteryshoppingreports.com.en-US 6.Use a dealer approved bywww.TrueCar.en-US comorwww.CostoAuto.com. These are the en-US two best third-party car buying services. The en-US dealers using True Car and Costco are en-US certified and supposed to provide you with en-US an honest, transparent price. Unfortunately, en-US some of them dont measure up and you en-US should exercise caution even when dealing en-US with a TrueCar or Costco certified dealer.en-US Finally, you should remember that good en-US dealerships have some bad people working en-US there and bad dealerships have some good en-US ones. If youve done your research and en-USchosen a dealership but are unhappy with a en-US sales person or manager, ask for someone en-US else to assist you. Weve sometimes encounen-US -en-US tered sales people in our mystery shops that en-US apologized for dishonest advertisements and en-US warned the mystery shopper not to overpay en-US on a car. We previously had a settlement en-US with DEO for the VGTI assistance that was en-US provided from the state. Wee felt that settleen-US-en-US ment was final, but the DEO was consideren-US -en-US ing whether they wanted to open that seten-US -en-US tlement up for a small portion of the en-US settlement. Those exact dollars, $1,150,000, en-US were previously approved, and we are proen-US -en-US viding those funds a little bit earlier than en-US were absolutely required to reach a compreen-US-en-US hensive settlement with DEO.en-US Mayor Oravec then asked Ms. Golden-US -en-US stein-Siegel and Mr. Blackburn to confirm a en-US series of facts related to the citys effort to en-US retrieve the Florida Center for Biosciences en-US out of receivership.en-US So the state invested a lot into VGTI, en-US and unfortunately VGTI did not perform en-US and went away, Mayor Oravec stated. We en-US recovered the building, but as part of that en-US recovery, we agreed to repay them a certain en-US amount as set forth in a term sheet, for en-US some of the equipment. Is that accurate? en-US That is a correct statement, Ms. Golden-US -en-US stein-Siegel replied. en-US I think thats important, and as Mr. en-US Blackburns pointed out, we are expediting en-US this settlement, the mayor continued. We en-US were going to pay it, hopefully around Januen-US -en-US ary when we close on the sale, but weve en-US agreed to move it up. And we agreed to en-US move it up because I believe, your particien-US -en-US pation and discussions were not only over en-US VGTI but also Torrey Pines, is that coren-US -en-US rect?en-US That is correct, Mr. Blackburn en-US answered. en-US Mayor Oravec then launched into a en-US lengthy discourse on the intricate relationen-US -en-US ship between the State of Florida, St. Lucie en-US County, the City of Port St. Lucie and the en-US huge push by economic development orgaen-US -en-US nizations to develop the Tradition area into en-US a hi-tech corridor. Out of several compaen-US-en-US nies lured to the area during the height of en-US the economic boom, only Torrey Pines en-US remains, and the mayor wants to help en-US ensure that the last standing tech firm origen-US -en-US inally lured from California survives. He en-US credited company founder Richard Houghen-US-en-US tens vision for its survival so far in vastly en-US different economy than the one that lured it en-US to Florida.en-US However, despite these sea changes, Toren-US -en-US rey Pines has taken a much different tack en-US than those [failed] companies, he said. en-US Rather than declaring bankruptcy or runen-US -en-US ning, Dr. Houghten and the TP team have en-US continued to fight to live up to their misen-US -en-US sion and promises made in 2006, albeit at a en-US slower pace, due to the economic realities. en-US Theyve even relocated their headquarters en-US from California to Florida, so it seems like en-US Torrey Pines is all in on Port St. Lucie and en-US Florida.en-US Mayor Oravec admitted the matter came en-US to light earlier this year when city staff realen-US -en-US ized Florida was about to seek punitive en-US damages against the struggling company en-US for its non compliance toward an incentive en-US grant agreement, particularly since the state en-US had no recourse against the other bankrupt en-US firms. en-US While the course of action in my mind is en-US certainly understandable and seems pruen-US -en-US dent in light of whats happened with other en-US economic development investments, we en-US were hopeful our governor and state leaders en-US would be able to employ safeguards without en-US imposing overly punitive penalties that en-US might send Torrey Pines into a tailspin, the en-US mayor added. We cant give away the whole en-US story because its not ours to tell, but its en-US really a conversation between Torrey Pines en-US and the state. We saw the opportunity to en-US facilitate an outcome where Torrey Pines en-US could continue, the state could call back en-US some of its investment and that Torrey en-US Pines would not just survive, but hopefully en-US weve set the table for them to thrive.en-US Although the background on the failed en-US economic development project is complien-US-en-US cated, Mr. Blackburn insisted the citys decien-US-en-US sion that evening was simple.en-US The state had approached the city about en-US potentially reopening a portion of that seten-US -en-US tlement, which we disagreed with, he said. en-US In order to resolve that issue, we have en-US before you a settlement where the city en-US agrees to accelerate the provision of the en-US funding that was agreed to previously by en-US the city. This evenings item for the city is en-US simply moving that payment up a little bit. en-USIt has a positive impact that may impact en-US Torrey Pines, but our issue is very simple.en-US Councilwoman Jolien Caraballo then en-US asked Ms. Goldstein-Siegel to confirm the en-US timeline of events the mayor and Mr. Blacken-US -en-US burn had just described, particularly dealen-US-en-US ing with the citys original agreement to pay en-US back the $1.15 million.en-US That was agreed to back in March, if I en-US recall correctly, when we had kind of a seten-US -en-US tlement discussion with DEO and the trusten-US-en-US ee, the citys outside counsel confirmed. en-US So it was a roundtable discussion: We en-US entered into a term sheet, which was then en-US approved as part of the amended and restaten-US -en-US ed receivership order back in June of 2017.en-US I just wanted to make sure thats on en-US record so the people can see at home that en-US this whole thing came to fruition back that en-US far back, its been over a year, Councilwomen-US -en-US an Caraballo said. en-US In response to further questioning by the en-US councilwoman, Ms. Goldstein-Siegel en-US described the citys different options for en-US paying off the money owed to the state.en-US Theres various scenarios in which we en-US would be responsible to pay the $1.15 milen-US-en-US lion, she explained. The first scenario is en-US upon the sale of the VGTI property; the en-US second instance is upon the lease of the en-US property within 180 days of the lease in en-US installment payments; and the other option en-US is to pay within five years of the date of the en-US entry of the settlement term sheet with en-US DEO from March.en-US Councilwoman Caraballo then directed en-US her next comments to Mayor Oravec.en-US Like you said, we have to restate it en-US almost a hundred times, but I just wanted to en-US make sure that those questions were on the en-US record, she said. That way people at home en-US understand it is a complex issue, and moven-US -en-US ing forward Im happy to support this item.en-US The councilwoman subsequently made en-US the motion to approve the payment, which en-US was seconded by Commissioner John en-US Carvelli and passed unanimously. Right en-US afterward, the Council voted unanimously en-US to issue up to $60 million in taxable bonds en-US to pay off the outstanding non-taxable ones en-US issued for the original construction of the en-US $65 million structure in Tradition. Hernen-US-en-US don, Va.-based RER Ventures Inc. is curen-US -en-US rently in the 90-day due diligence period en-US and the city has formally accepted its $14.5 en-US million offer for the 108,000-square-foot en-US building. en-US Communications Manager Sarah Proen-US-en-US haska confirmed last August that the city en-US would still owe about $52 million on the en-US building if the sale goes through. en-USEquipmenten-USFrom page 1

12 Were Here Day and NightFULL CIRCLE SENIOR CARE Dont' forget to back en-USup your computeren-USTen-UShere is one computer related topic en-US that keeps generating one question en-US after another. Its a topic that en-US everybody knows about and yet most of us en-US are guilty of not taking it seriously enough. en-US And those of us who do take it seriously are en-US often doing it wrong. What is it that Im en-US writing about this week? If you guessed en-US backing up your computer, you're right!en-US Over the years I know I have touched on en-US this subject a number of times but what has en-US prompted me to touch on it again is the en-US other half of the equation that never seems en-US to get any attention. You see, so much time en-US is spent on how important having a backup en-US is, how to perform the backup or what en-US needs to be included in the backup that the en-US equally important subject of how to restore en-US the backup gets neglected. en-US Then, when disaster does strike and en-US people have to go restore from backup the en-US recovery steps that they are following (if en-US any) often dont work. A lot of the backup en-US software thats out there make assumptions en-US about the backup/recovery situation that en-US dont necessarily fit your situation. Then en-US the steps dont make any sense and youre en-US left feeling lost. en-US Heres a for instance; one backup utility en-US that I know of makes the assumption that en-US the computer itself is intact but the data en-US itself became lost or corrupt. Then, the en-US recovery steps make suggestions like en-US double click the restore icon on your en-US desktop which makes no sense if you are en-US restoring after a hard drive crash or en-US replacing a computer. en-US Another example involves ghosting or en-US imaging software. This backup concept is en-US that if you regularly image (or ghost) your en-US machine, then recovering from hard drive en-US disaster is a snap just re-image a new hard en-US drive and all of your data and settings is en-US restored exactly as they were right before en-US disaster struck. But what happens if the en-US disaster isnt with the hard drive but with en-US the motherboard? What if you are simply en-US trying to move all of your data and settings en-US to an altogether new machine? Usually en-US trying to restore backup data from an en-US image disk only works if the computer that en-US is being re-imaged has exactly the same en-US hardware as the machine that is being en-US replaced. If you can get the image to load at en-US all (on different hardware) you usually end en-US up with a ton of driver issues and other en-US things that have to be cleaned up.en-US I had one frustrated computer user ask en-US me recently what good is having the en-US backup running every night if it still costs en-US time and money to have someone come out en-US to restore it? Ill answer that here backing en-US up your data is a necessary chore. Without en-US a backup running regularly, when you do en-US have a disaster (whether its a hard drive en-US crash or some other catastrophic failure) en-US then switching to a new machine is easy if en-US losing all of your data is OK with you!en-US But what if you would like your new en-US machine to have all your stuff in it? en-US Wouldnt it be nice if your new machine (or en-US hard drive) had all of your documents in en-US your Documents folder? And all those en-US programs that were installed on the old en-US machine? Wouldnt it be nice to know how en-US to get those back?en-US Well, all that stuff has to be restored and en-US the new machine tweaked until it en-US matches the way you had it as close as en-US possible. Programs that were in use on the en-US old machine have to be reinstalled on the en-US new you cant just restore it from backup, en-US it has to be reinstalled. Favorites and email en-US all have to be imported and applications en-US that may not be on the new box have to be en-US installed. en-US Take accounting data as a for instance en-US backing up the data is one thing but people en-US are often surprised to learn that they need en-US to reload the accounting software on the en-US new machine if they want to be able to en-US restore that accounting data. en-US Chores like reinstalling software and en-US importing the data from backup can take a en-US lot longer than it takes to set up a regular en-US nightly backup but what it all comes down en-US to is this its better to be struggling with en-US restoring your data then to be wishing you en-US had something to struggle with! So backup en-US your data anyways!en-US Sean McCarthy fixes computers. He can en-US be reached at 888-752-9049 oren-US help@en-US ComputeThisOnline.comen-US (no hyphens). In en-US fact, you can roll the family truck out of the en-US driveway, take a short drive and enjoy a en-US weekend within a short drive from home.en-US The Hutchinson Island Marriott Beach en-US Resort & Marina in Stuart offers everything en-US you need to recharge your batteries without en-US making a long trip to do so.en-US Located on 200 acres between the en-US Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River en-US Lagoon, the resort offers 274 deluxe en-US accommodations, unspoiled beaches, a en-US marina, fine dining and bars, a BBQ and en-US picnic area, babysitting services, fitness en-US center, tennis courts, three swimming en-US pools, wave runner and kayak rentals, en-US bicycle rentals, and much more. There are en-US even plenty of activities designed just for en-US the kids so that you can truly get away.en-US The Ocean Club Course, designed by en-US Charles Ankrom and renovated by Dick en-US Gray, is the jewel of the resort. A few years en-US ago this 18-hole track underwent renovaen-US -en-US tions to all of its greens complexes. All 18 en-US were torn up and rebuilt. After a couple en-US years to grow in and mature, the results are en-US phenomenal and the courses friendly staff en-US is rightfully proud.en-US I was recently fortunate enough to be en-US invited out to see how the course has en-US matured since I last played here. Even with en-US the crazy weather we have seen this en-US summer, the greens are as close to perfect as en-US Ive seen in some time. They hold and track en-US well. In fact, my putts rolled as if on a pool en-US table with just enough undulations to make en-US things interesting.en-US Of course the greens are a little older en-US than when I last visited, and while quite en-US good, the staff insists they will be even en-US better. They took care over the summer en-US being careful not to cut them too short and en-US risk stressing them or allowing them to en-US burn in the summer heat. Once it cools a bit en-US more, the speeds will increase and putting en-US will be challenging.en-US There are three sets of tees on this en-US par-61 track that measures just over 4,000 en-US yards from the tips. The front nine plays out en-US to the Indian River Lagoon, while the en-US back-nine takes you out toward the Atlantic en-US Ocean.en-US At The Ocean Club, 12 par-3s await en-US you. There are five par-4s and the finishing en-US hole is a wonderful 485-yard par-5. While en-US the shortest par-3 plays just 120 yards from en-US the back, there are two long par-3s as well en-US to test your game. Four of the par-4s play to en-US the cardinal points on the compass. This en-US means that where the wind may help you en-US one one hole, the next it could be in your en-US face, or coming from your right or left. This en-US course has enough en-US teeth to test better en-US players, yet remains en-US fun for the true recreen-US -en-US ational golfer. en-US If you play form en-US the correct set of tees, en-US Ocean Club will en-US surely test your game. en-US If you can play to en-US your handicap en-US around this track, en-US you have had a solid en-US round. There is a en-US great variety of holes en-US here. I hit eight en-US different clubs off the en-US tee on the par-3s. en-US Looking back at my en-US round, I hit nearly every club in my bag, en-US except for my short wedges, at least once en-US from the tee.en-US Every hole is well framed and laid out. en-US The villas surrounding the course do not en-US come into play, but do make for tricky wind en-US patterns that add to the difficulty of the en-US course. Being so close to the ocean and en-US river, means that there is nearly always a en-US breeze, and it can change from hour to en-US hour.en-US The 18th hole here is a great hole. Its en-US not often that us recreational golfers get a en-US chance to reach the green on a par-5 in two. en-US Playing under 500 yards long, a solid tee en-US shot will leave most of us with a fariway en-US wood or hybrid second shot to the green. en-US Of course, its not an easy shot with water en-US lurking in front and left of the green. en-US Fortunately the green is very deep and en-US receptive to long shots. Then there is always en-US the way I played it. Hit a poor tee shot to the en-US left and have to layup and then hit a wedge en-US into the green. en-US For more information on playing the en-US ocean Club Course or enjoying a weekend en-US at the Hutchinson Island Marriott, visit en-US www.marriott.com/stuart or call 772-225-en-US 3700.en-US James Stammer has been an avid golfer en-US and golf enthusiast for nearly 40 years. We put en-US them on muffins, biscuits and en-US toast to add sweetness. Big deal? According en-US to my wife, it is a big deal and probably to en-US many of you out there as well. en-US Heres what happened. My wife decided en-US to treat her mother to a trip to the Seminole en-US casino in Tampa to play the slot machines. en-US That seems to be a special treat for many en-US retirees that love bingo, too. Everyone arose en-US early to get ready. I thought I would be nice en-US and offered them coffee and toast to get en-US them started on the road. en-US My mother-in-law said all she wanted en-US was a half cup of coffee. She was saving her en-US appetite to eat at the casino. The chef there en-US is a friend of mine and he always spoils my en-US family when they visit. en-US My wife, on the other hand, wanted eggs, en-US fresh fruit, a thermos of coffee and gluen-US -en-US ten-free toast with jelly. I went to the en-US refrigerator and offered her a choice of en-US orange marmalade, strawberry jam or en-US blackberry jam. She immediately answered, en-US Jelly. I explained we did not have any jelly, en-US we had jam so whats the difference? Thats en-US when I got a lecture about the differences en-US between jams and jelly. Welcome to my en-US world.en-US Okay, there is a great deal of difference en-US and sometimes we crave certain tastes en-US together. Jam is made from fresh cut fruit en-US cooked to a pulp with sugar. This creates a en-US thick fruity spread. en-US Jelly is made from the fresh juice of fruit en-US cooked with sugar. Some manufacturers en-US add pectin to thicken and gel.en-US Finally, marmalade is similar to jam, but en-US it is made from the bitter Seville oranges en-US from Spain or Portugal. The word marmaen-US -en-US lade comes from the Portuguese marmelos, en-US an orange paste. en-US My wife is absolutely correct there are en-US many differences between jams, jellies and en-US marmalade, and their usage. Please dont en-US tell her I said that. Lets face it peanut butter en-US and marmalade just doesnt sound right or en-US taste right; it has to be jelly. en-US When you need to add flavor for cooking en-US fish or poultry, jams and marmalade will en-US hold up better and give it a fruitier taste, en-US adding the needed acidity to enhance flavor. en-US The history of these tasty treats date back en-US to 1785 when Napoleon Bonaparte offered a en-US cash reward to anyone who could come up en-US with an idea to preserve food for his troops. en-US A chef named Nicolas Appert experimenten-US -en-US ed, using high temperatures to heat food en-US and then sealing them in a glass, airtight jar. en-US This technique worked and he went on to en-US discover different foods must be processed en-US at different temperatures, depending on the en-US acid in the food. en-US Louis XIV always ended his feast with en-US jams and marmalades. In the 1800s, a en-US nursery man named John Chapman, later en-US known as Johnny en-US Appleseed, walked the en-US Midwest planting apple en-US orchards so future en-US pioneers would have en-US crops. One of those en-US pioneers was Jerome en-US Smucker, who used the en-US crop to produce apple en-US butter and later gave en-US birth to the Smuckers en-US company we know today. en-US In 1869, in Concord, en-US Mass., Dr. Thomas en-US Welch used the Concord en-US grape to begin his juice en-US company. In 1918, he en-US produce his first jam, en-US called Grapelade. He sold his entire en-US production to the army that shipped it en-US overseas to soldiers in France. When they en-US came home, they wanted more. By 1923, the en-US Welch Concord Grape Jelly Co. was born. en-US I could share a jelly recipe with you, but en-US thats no fun. If you want one, e-mail me. en-US Now how about a great fish recipe using en-US marmalade?
