They all seem pretty excited about it, and en-US they are just trying to retain the skilled workers en-US that they have and some desperately need more en-US because a lot of these young adults will leave town en-US looking for work when there are great manufacen-US -en-US turers here and they dont have to.en-US ST LUCIE COUNTY A new proen-US -en-US gram that is being implemented in St. en-US Lucie County could mean safer condien-US -en-US tions for people with autism, dementia en-US or cognitive disorders. en-US Sheriff Mascara hosted a press conferen-US -en-US ence on April 23 in regards to the St. en-US Lucie County Sheriffs Offices new parten-US-en-US nership with Project Lifesaver Internaen-US -en-US tional. LUCIE COUNTY Ken Pruitt, who en-UShas served St. Lucie County as a state senator, en-US state representative, and property appraiser, en-US was presented with the prestigious Pete en-US Hegener Leadership Award by the Economic en-US Development Council of St. Lucie County en-US (EDC) at its 6th annual leadership dinner on en-US April 26.en-US The award is presented annually to a dedien-US -en-US cated business leader who has made signifien-US-en-US cant contributions to St. Lucie Countys en-US economy and quality of life. The annual dinen-US -en-US ner and celebration, held at Harbour Ridge en-US Yacht & Country Club and attended by more en-US than 200, was sponsored by Florida Power & en-US Light (FP&L).en-USMike Adams, the son of last years Hegeen-US -en-US ner Award recipient, the late Alto Bud en-US Adams Jr., presented the award to Pruitt. It en-US is hard to imagine a better choice for this en-US award, said Adams. I know if my father en-US could have been with us tonight that he en-US would be in wholehearted agreement. Ken en-US has earned this recognition many times en-US over.en-US Pruitt represented St. Lucie County in the en-US Florida House from 1990-2000 and in the en-US Florida Senate from 2000-2009, attaining the en-US top leadership positions in both chambers, en-US leaving Tallahassee in 2009 after serving two en-US years as Senate President. He was elected as en-US the countys property appraiser in 2010 and en-US re-elected in 2012. In 2014, the appraisers en-US office won the Distinguished Assessment en-US Jurisdiction Award, earned by only one of en-US 7,000 assessment en-US offices in the world. en-US Pruitt is currently en-US the president of the en-US P5 Group. en-US Ken spent the en-US majority of his proen-US -en-US fessional life, and en-US the entirety of his en-US elected life, tirelessly en-US working to create en-US well-paying jobs, en-US elevate our quality of en-US life, and build a beten-US -en-US ter community in St. en-US Lucie County. His collaborative leadership en-US paved the way for the very economic success en-US we enjoy today, said Edwin Massey, Ph.D., en-US president of Indian River State College en-US (IRSC) in his nomination of Pruitt.en-US Among Pruitts accomplishments Massey en-US noted Floridas Bright Futures program, en-US $232 million of state investment in IRSC en-US facilities for workforce training, securing the en-US future of Harbor Branch Oceanographic en-US Institute with the support of Florida Atlantic en-US University, and championing infrastructure en-US improvements across the Treasure Coast en-US which laid the foundation for the economic en-US development we are experiencing today.en-US For a man who is the father of the Bright en-US Futures Scholarship Act, and the genesis for en-US the Bert Harris Act protecting Floridians en-US private property, Ken Pruitt is a humble en-US man. Despite all of his accomplishments, en-US hes perfectly content being Kenny, a former en-US well driller who believed we could achieve a en-US better St. Lucie County. His actions have en-US created an environment in which our county en-US is thriving, and there is no one more deserven-US -en-US ing for a St. Lucie County leadership award en-US than Ken Pruitt. Pete [Hegener] would totalen-US -en-US ly agree, wrote Massey.en-US The EDC leadership selection committee en-US interviewed five semi-finalist nominees, en-US voted to choose three final candidates, and en-US then unanimously selected Pruitt as the en-US nominee who most embodies the leadership en-US and community mindfulness of the awards en-US namesake, Pete Hegener. The other finalists en-US were Mike Brown Sr., Harbor Community en-US Bank, and Kathryn Hensley, School Board of en-US St. Lucie County.en-US Sherwood Buddy Johnson of Sherwood en-US Johnson & Son Grove Management, Hilliard en-US Groves and Buck Hammock Groves and en-US Wes McCurry of Tradition Land Company en-US were selected as semi-finalists. The PGAs vision en-US of establishing a golf club in St. Lucie County en-US back in 1996 helped give rise to the developen-US -en-US ment of St. Lucie West. Over the years, the en-US PGA Golf Club, the PGA Center for Golf en-US Learning and Performance and the St. Lucie en-US Trail Golf Club have employed over 2,500 en-US local people, attracted countless visitors and en-US new residents and invested more than $58 en-US million in capital in St. Lucie County. en-US It is not really possible to evenly assess en-US the contributions of one individual against en-US the contributions of an entire organization, en-US particularly over the course of years, said en-US EDC President Pete Tesch. The PGA has en-US been a driver of our economic vitality since en-US they came to St. Lucie. We are pleased to recen-US -en-US ognize those contributions this year and en-US look forward to expanding our future leaden-US en-USership awards program to include a category en-US for businesses, institutions or organizations en-US in the future.en-US The recipient of the Pete Hegener Leaderen-US -en-US ship Award exemplifies the qualities of a en-US visionary, a trusted role model and leader en-US whose inspiration and achievements impact en-US the quality of job creation, economic vitality en-US and small business growth.en-US Pete Hegener, the man whose actions en-US inspired this award, was a founding member en-US and integral partner of the EDC, served on en-US the Board of Directors, and was an Executive en-US Committee member. Pete was a pillar of the en-US St. Lucie County community, having played en-US a key role in the development of western St. en-US Lucie County and Tradition. Friends and en-US colleagues described him as honest, visionen-US -en-US ary, and caring. He passed away in March en-US 2012, but his legacy is recognized through en-US this award. en-US The Economic Development Council of en-US St. Lucie County is a private, not-for-profit en-US membership-based organization dedicated en-US to promoting economic vitality in St. Lucie en-US County through the attraction, retention en-US and expansion of businesses in the commuen-US -en-US nity. Hopefully, these are en-US kids that would like to get more into the en-US skilled trades and were working closely with en-US them to help make those matches.en-US The EDC is a private, not-for-profit orgaen-US -en-US nization dedicated to promoting economic en-US vitality in St. Lucie County through the en-US attraction, retention and expansion of busien-US -en-US nesses in the community. Likewise, if a en-US woman self identifies as a man, she should en-US be allowed to use the mens restroom. Well, en-US if I self identify as a NASCAR driver, can I en-US drive 200 mph anywhere I want? If I self en-US identify as a cop, are the laws about imperen-US -en-US sonating a police office then void? Transdead aka en-US zombies do.en-USSome adviceen-USA recent Can you help me plea asked on en-US how to deal with telephone solicitations. In en-US short why are you answering the phone? en-US The call back method is very effective. Callen-US-en-US er ID is helpful as it identifies friends, en-US important vendors/customers and relatives. en-US As for calls you dont recognize simply let en-US them go to voicemail. A phone with call en-US memory will allow recall of unknown numen-US -en-US bers. When I call back a solicitation usually en-US the following occurs: 1. the line is dead (no en-US answer); 2. the marketing company en-US announcement answers your call and asks if en-US you wish to be removed from their call list en-US (very handy); 3. a live person answers but en-US this is rare and they do not usually get call en-US backs and are off script. At my business we en-US keep a call log on a spreadsheet and this is a en-US great way to ID repeat solicitations (offenden-US -en-US ers). en-USMore help for robocallsen-USEveryone finds nuisance telephone calls en-US annoying. After I moved en-US here, I started buying solar lights to illumien-US -en-US nate my yard. However, my electric bill was en-US atrocious. en-US Suddenly it occurred to me to get solar en-US panels to circumvent the high cost of elecen-US -en-US tricy. I contacted a solar company and I was en-US amazed to find out that Florida is not giving en-US any kind of rebates to homeowners to install en-US solar energy panels.en-US The Internal Revenue Service gives 30 percent rebates, however, the state of en-USFlorida does not. I wrote to Gov. Rick Scott en-US with no response.en-US I found out many other states offer incenen-US-en-US tives for homeowners to install solar panels. en-US I wonder why the Sunshine State is not en-US offering good incentives for homeowners.en-US Energy is a precious commodity and if en-US our state would incentives then we'd have en-US surplus energy that could easily be sold to en-US other states.en-US I cannot comprehend why Florida is not en-US doing anything to use nature for our pleaen-US-en-US sure and pocketbook.en-USDont worry, its not your faulten-USThroughout society we have seen a steady en-US progression in the thinking that nobody is en-US required to take responsibility for their en-US actions. Todays buzz word is termed milen-US -en-US lennial thinking. This includes not only the en-US freedom to do anything you wish without en-US being burdened by repercussions as well as en-US it no longer requires hard work to achieve. en-US You are, after all, entitled to everything en-US you want in life. en-US Take the case of a person that goes to a en-US bar and has far too much to drink. They get en-US into their car and drive in a severely en-US impaired state and kill someone. The real en-US culprit certainly cannot be the poor person en-US that now has to live with this on their conen-US -en-US science. It is, instead, the bartender that en-US served him too many drinks.. en-US We saw the McDonalds fiasco with the en-US coffee which the lady spilled on herself. I en-US believe the award she received was over $80 en-US million. McDonalds then had to insert a en-US notation on their coffee cups that the conen-US -en-US tents were hot since the public cannot be en-US expected to know this without fair warning. en-US Sounds right to me.en-US In recent months we have seen a couple of en-US cases much closer to home. We have had en-US two incidents where people were struck and en-US killed by a Brightline train. These were ceren-US -en-US tainly tragic events and I extend my condoen-US -en-US lences to the friends and families of the vicen-US-en-US tims. However, the initial gut reaction en-US disseminated by many was to go after en-US Brightline. The very thought that Brightline en-US is to blame for individuals knowingly standen-US -en-US ing on the tracks or walking/bicycling in en-US front of a train is a classic example of how en-US far weve gone to make certain the truth, en-US common sense or simply what is right is no en-US longer the reaction of our societal mores. If en-US the gates are down across an intersection, en-US the crossing alarms are operating and the en-US train is blowing its air horn, I see no way en-US how we can deflect blame onto the train. en-US One cannot legislate stupidity. To be fair, it en-US is possible that the victims may have had en-US mental or physical situations which preventen-US-en-US ed them from realizing what they were en-US doing. If so, then how does the family allow en-US a loved one with said conditions to have the en-US freedom to put themselves into such situaen-US -en-US tions? Again, an offshoot of personal en-US responsibility.en-US This penchant towards PC extends to law en-US enforcement as well. Sometimes those that en-US are really wearing the handcuffs are not the en-US perpetrators but our law enforcement memen-US-en-US bers themselves. In addien-US -en-US tion, government data highlighted a new en-US record for gasoline demand was breached en-US last week, and were not even into the sumen-US-en-US mer driving season yet. The road ahead at en-US the pump looks quite ominous if that en-US demand number proves common in the en-US coming weeks.en-US In Vero Beach, the lowest prices for regular en-US gas as of April 29 were $2.59 at The Beverage en-US Stop, 310 27th Ave. SW, $2.64 at 7-Eleven, en-US 210 Highland Dr. SW & 2089 Old Dixie Hwy. en-US SW, $2.67 at RaceWay, 9490 108th Ave. and en-US Fellsmere Road, $2.68 at Sams Club, 5565 en-US 20th St., and $2.69 at Mobil, 3365 Aviation en-US Blvd.en-US In Sebastian, the lowest prices for regular en-US gas were $2.65 at Mobil, 9490 90th Ave. and en-US CR-512, $2.67 at BP, 10950 CR-512 and I-95, en-US $2.69 at Sunoco, 9020 Fellsmere Road & en-US Watervliet Ave., $2.69 at Cumberland Farms, en-US 957 Sebastian Blvd. and Barber St., and $2.69 en-US at Speedway, 700 US-1 & CR-512 (easten-US-en-US bound).en-US In Fort Pierce, the lowest prices were $2.64 en-US at Mobil, 2200 S US-1 and Virginia Ave., en-US $2.64 at Speedway, 3045 S US-1 and Emil en-US Road, $2.65 at BP, 1203 South US-1 near en-US Park Way, $2.65 at Sunoco, 3110 S. The lowen-US -en-US est price reported in the state was $2.34 at a en-US Shell in Deerfield Beach. The highest price in en-US the state was $3.97 at a Chevron in North en-US Miami Beach.en-US Across the U.S., the average April 29 was en-US $2.808, compared to $2.658 one month ago en-US and $2.386 one year ago. The lowest average en-US prices in the U.S. are $2.491 in Oklahoma en-US and $2.496 in Louisiana. The highest average en-US prices are $3.593 in California and $3.564 in en-US Hawaii.en-US All signs point to some additional upward en-US movement before prices peak and perhaps en-US drop slightly around Memorial Day into the en-US month of June, said Mr. DeHaan.en-US GasBuddy says the sudden surge can be en-US blamed on oil prices rising to nearly $67 per en-US barrel, the highest level since 2014, on fears en-US of military action in Syria and trade conflict en-US with China. U.S. oil inventories also stand 20 en-US percent lower than a year ago, the result of en-US higher crude oil exports and OPECs agreeen-US -en-US ment to cut oil production, now in its 15th en-US month.en-US Higher oil prices have enticed U.S. proen-US -en-US ducers to ramp up crude oil exports, effecen-US -en-US tively draining U.S. oil inventories at a higher en-US pace than that oil is being replaced, said Mr. en-US DeHaan.en-USFuel Saving Tipsen-USGasBuddy offers the following tips to save en-US fuel. These tips closely mirror those of AAA en-US and others.en-US 1. Avoid high speeds. Increasing speed en-US increases aerodynamic drag exponentially, en-US dramatically increasing fuel consumption.en-US 2. Avoid frequent accelerations and hard en-US breaking. Simply trying to maintain a consisen-US-en-US tent flow can increase fuel economy by 20 en-US percent.en-US 3. Keep tires properly inflated. One tire en-US underinflated by two PSI can increase fuel en-US consumption by one percent. Pay attention en-US to manufacturer recommendations for air en-US pressure and check them regularly.en-US 4. Use air conditioning as little as practical. en-US The air conditioner can increase fuel conen-US-en-US sumption by 20 percent.en-US 5. Keep windows closed, but choose open en-US windows over A/C when you need one or the en-US other. Open windows at highway speeds can en-US increase fuel consumption by 10 percent. en-USThats 50 percent better than A/C, but still a en-US loss.en-US 6. Service vehicle regularly. Fuel efficiency en-US gets worse if you have dirty air filters, old en-US spark plugs or low fluid levels.en-US 7. Use cruise control to maintain a conen-US -en-US stant speed. But avoid the temptation to en-US move your legs away from the peddles or en-US divert your gaze from the road, as you must en-US remain prepared to respond to any situation.en-US 8. Avoid heavy loads. Those bags of kitty en-US litter or top soil or extra cases of water in the en-US trunk will cost you more in fuel than you en-US saved by buying them in bulk. Empty heavy en-US items from your car as soon as you can.en-US 9. Avoid long idles. Its often hard to anticien-US -en-US pate how long youll be waiting for someone en-US outside a school or store, but the general rule en-US is that if you will be stopped in place for more en-US than one minute, youll save gas by turning en-US the car off and then restarting it.en-US 10. Purchase a fuel efficient vehicle. People en-US buy more vehicles when gas prices are low, en-US and then they ignore fuel and go for a big en-US truck or SUV. Think ahead and chose the en-US smallest vehicle that will suit your needs, en-US with the best rated fuel efficiency you can en-US afford. Choosing a manual transmission will en-US often save you extra money, though thats not en-US for everyone.en-US Finally, use a smartphone app to help you en-US find the least expensive gas wherever you are. en-US GasBuddy is a free and easy app, but you can en-US find others that work just as well.en-USGas prices rising, en-US tips to save moneyen-USBy Mike

en-US 10 Dont delete any of your machines system files en-USTen-USake a look around any computers en-US hard drive and you will notice en-US hundreds, no, thousands of things en-US that are known as System files. These are en-US files that your computer needs to operate. en-US Delete, re-name or move them and your en-US machine could start acting like Forest en-US Gump. en-US People are often surprised to find out just en-US how many things there are in a typical en-US computer that do not belong to them. en-US Now, I know its logical to think hey, its my en-US computer, every file in it belongs to me. en-US That may be true but most of the files on en-US your computer really belong to the en-US system. Meddle with them and you risk en-US breaking your Windows. en-US Let me explain. Items on your hard drive en-US are, essentially, files which are organized en-US into groups called folders or directories. en-US These files are either system files, user files en-US or a combination system/user file. en-US Your operating system (Windows, Mac, en-US whichever) is a program that relies on a en-US plethora of files to function properly. Most en-US of these files (system files) are so necessary en-US that without them, Windows wont run at en-US all. Many times system files have cryptic en-US names and you have no idea what they are en-US when you see their icon. The rule of thumb en-US to follow is unless you are absolutely sure en-US what a file is, dont mess with it. en-US Sometimes, as luck would have it, system en-US files may be named similarly to one of your en-US own files. This can cause a problem if youre en-US not careful because not everything on your en-US computer is what you think it is. Always en-US make absolutely sure a file is what you think en-US it is before you delete or modify it. en-US An easy way to check a file is to right en-US click it and then click (with the left button) en-US Properties and then click Details. This en-US will allow you to take a quick peek at a file en-US without opening it (or accidentally running en-US it if its a program file) to determine what it en-US is. If its a system file, chances are you wont en-US understand what you are seeing in the en-US details page and thats your clue; if you dont en-US understand it, dont mess with it and en-US certainly dont delete it. en-US If a file is one of yours, you will en-US recognize it right away in details. If you en-US recognize it as not being a system file, you en-US can do what you want with it. en-US So, what about all of these things that I en-US dont need? How do I get rid of them? en-US Well, the safest answer to that is to get rid en-US of them mentally. In other words ignore en-US them. One of the skills that any good en-US computerist develops is the ability to ignore en-US all of the things that dont apply to the task en-US at hand. en-US Some files, the ones that are half user files en-US and half system files, are necessary for en-US certain programs to run. If these files are en-US modified, The operating system will still en-US run but the program that owns them may en-US not. en-US How do you tell which are which? You en-US dont need to. It all boils down to if you are en-US not absolutely clear what a file is, assume its en-US a system file and leave it alone! And thats en-US good advice.en-US Sean McCarthy fixes computers. Rick Scott en-US signed legislation that lets the state join the en-US Electronic Registration Information Center. en-US Florida is the 24th state to join ERIC, a mulen-US -en-US tistate effort to expand voter registration en-US and remove or update incorrect registraen-US -en-US tions.en-US ERIC was formed in 2012 as a non-profit en-US organization with seed money from The en-US Pew Charitable Trust. It is a system to comen-US -en-US pare state and federal government data on en-US eligible voters. Data compared includes en-US voter and motor vehicle registrations, U.S. en-US Postal Service addresses, and Social Security en-US death records. en-US Every year, millions of Americans move, en-US die, or have other life changes that affect en-US voter status. ERIC checks that voters are elien-US -en-US gible and registered only once, in the proper en-US place. The ERIC website claims that one in en-US eight voter registration records nationwide en-US contain a serious error, and 51 million eligien-US -en-US ble citizens remain unregistered to vote.en-US Keeping voter rolls current is always a en-US challenge because voters move and neglect en-US to notify the Elections Office, said Indian en-US River Countys Supervisor of Elections Lesen-US-en-US lie Swan. ERIC is another tool to ensure the en-US countys voter rolls are as accurate as possien-US -en-US ble.en-US Since 2013, ERIC has identified 8,428,614 en-US voter registration mistakes. These included en-US 1,826,974 people who moved to different en-US states but didnt cancel their prior registraen-US -en-US tions, 6,250,150 who were registered in the en-US proper state but required updates to their en-US records, 145,117 in-state duplicates, and en-US 206,373 people who had died.en-US ERIC has not released any data indicating en-US whether improper votes were actually cast.en-US In addition to comparing data to find en-US mistakes, ERIC is a tool for states to contact en-US unregistered voters. Member states contact en-US eligible unregistered voters at least every en-US two years, prior to federal general elections, en-US with instructions on how to register.en-US Each state submits, at a minimum, voter en-US registration and motor vehicle data, includen-US -en-US ing name, address, date of birth, and the last en-US four digits of the social security number. en-US Date of birth and the last four digits of the en-US Social Security number are supposedly proen-US-en-US tected using a cryptographic one-way hash en-US before being transmitted to ERIC. en-US Each state then receives reports that show en-US voters who have moved within their state, en-US voters who have moved out of state, voters en-US who have died, duplicate registrations, and en-US eligible individuals who are not registered.en-US In Florida, as in other states, the effort to en-US join ERIC appears to have been bipartisan, en-US with support from both Democrats and en-US Republicans. While not formal opposition, en-US some concerns have been raised by civil liben-US -en-US erties organizations regarding the potential en-US for the system to either remove eligible voten-US-en-US ers from the rolls, or to compile data that en-US might be used for unintended purposes.en-US ERIC is owned and managed by the states en-US that choose to join. Each state pays annual en-US dues. The organization has an annual buden-US-en-US get of $785,000, with larger states paying en-US proportionally more than smaller states. en-US The organization says that states actually en-US save more money than their dues from en-US cleaner voter rolls resulting in less returned en-US mail, fewer provisional ballots on election en-US day, and shorter lines at polling places.en-US The seven states that formed ERIC in en-US 2012 are Colorado, Delaware, Maryland, en-US Nevada, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. en-US Washington D.C., Oregon, Connecticut, en-US Louisiana, and Minnesota joined in 2014. en-US Alabama, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Rhode en-US Island joined in 2015. Alaska, Ohio, New en-US Mexico, West Virginia and Wisconsin en-US joined in 2016. Arizona joined in 2017, and en-US Missouri in 2018. en-US Florida now becomes the 24th member en-US state, though the system will not actually be en-US used in Florida until Jan. 1, 2019, after the en-US 2018 midterms.en-US This is important progress, said Dana en-US Southerland, President of the Florida State en-US Association of Supervisors of Elections. en-US Our participation in ERIC means we will en-US be able to identify and communicate with en-US voters who may be registered to vote in en-US other states. It will also help us identify eligien-US-en-US ble, unregistered voters so we can encourage en-US them to register to vote.en-US Our association advocated for this legisen-US-en-US lation because weve seen credible evidence en-US that ERIC is a secure way to share data and en-US improve the accuracy of our voter registraen-US -en-US tion database, said Craig Latimer, legislaen-US -en-US tive chair for FSASE. We look forward to en-US working with ERIC partners in a shared en-US commitment to improve Americas voter en-US rolls and bolster the countrys confidence in en-US our elections.en-US For information about ERIC, call (202) en-US 695-3464, email, or visit en-US joins system to update voter dataen-USBy Mike

However, buying a en-US car is something you only do every few en-US years. During the time between buying cars en-US you will bring it in for service maybe a en-US dozen times (and that doesnt even count en-US repairs).en-USCar dealers make more money servicing en-US your car than they do selling you one. The en-US more service they sell you, the more money en-US they make. Todays automobiles are of far en-US better quality than they used to be and are en-US much less likely to need repairs. Increasingly, en-US basic maintenance is all you really need to en-US do for your car. Also, many manufacturers en-US are providing free maintenance for the first en-US two or three years. This new dynamic is a en-US threat to the car dealers most profitable en-US departmentsservice and parts. Many car en-US dealers are compensating for this by selling en-US you more service than you really need.en-US Did you know that virtually every employen-US -en-US ee in a service department gets a percentage en-US of the total amount of service he sells? The en-US guy that writes up your service order when en-US you drive in is on commission. They are en-US service salesmen but they dont like to be en-US called that. Their title is usually service en-US advisor or assistant service manager. The en-US mechanic that fixes your car is on commisen-US -en-US sion. The service manager that supervises en-US the mechanic and the service salesman is en-US paid on commission. The dealer and service en-US manager expect the service salesman to en-US up-sell you. This is typically accomplished en-US with a free inspection purportedly to find en-US maintenance and repairs that you didnt en-US know you needed and was probably not en-US mentioned in your owners manual. After en-US the service salesman sells you as much en-US service as he can, the mechanics role is to en-US find anything that needs to be fixed on the en-US car that the service salesman or you were en-US unaware of. He then calls the service en-US salesman and tells him about the additional en-US repairs you need the second up-sell. I en-US recommend that you stick to what your cars en-US manufacturer recommends for maintenance en-US in your owners manual. When your service en-US salesman tells you what he recommends, be en-US sure that the manufacturer recommends it en-US too. There are some exceptions to this, based en-US on certain local environmental conditions, en-US but very few. Always question any service en-US not recommended by your owners manual. en-US When a repair is recommended that you en-US were unaware of, get a second opinion from en-US another service department, especially if its en-US an expensive repair. Be especially leery of en-US transmission and radiator flushes. Theyre en-US not recommended by auto manufacturers en-US but very popular with car dealer service en-US departments; their high-priced and en-US unnecessary.en-USNow, dont get me wrong; just because en-US people are paid on commission doesnt en-US make them dishonest or uncaring. However, en-US if theres a rotten apple in the barrel he will en-US take advantage of a commissioned pay plan en-US to maximize his earnings. There are very en-US few companies with zero rotten apples. A en-US good company does its best to ferret out the en-US rotten apples but its a constant battle. In en-US fact, there are companies that have more en-US rotten apples than not. When you have a en-US department or company where everybody is en-US on commission, it takes an awfully altruistic en-US manager to fire a top-producerbecause his en-US paycheck enhanced by that individual. The en-US more his rotten apple sells the more en-US money the supervisor earns. This applies en-US also to the supervisors supervisor, all the en-US way up to the guy that owns the company. en-US The higher up the ladder you go, the harder en-US it is to identify these more passive, unseen en-US rotten apples that aid and abet the en-US front-line apples. The head guy usually has en-US what many CEOs insist onDENIABILIen-US -en-US TY. You hear a lot about that in government en-US scandals. The press always wants to know, en-US Who knew what and when did they know en-US it? Everybody remembers Watergate where en-US the rotten apples extended from the bottom en-US of the barrel all the way to the top. It took en-US Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein over en-US several years to follow the tracks all the way en-US to the top of the barrel.en-US Often, there are people in all companies en-US that are honest and caring for their customen-US -en-US ers. The point of this article is that youre en-US better served to look for that good person en-US than only a good company. There is no en-US surefire way to do this, but I can suggest a en-US few methods. Clearly, youre more likely to en-US find a good service salesman in a company en-US that has a good reputation. You find good en-US companies by personal experience, en-US recommendations by friends, and ratings by en-US various services like Google (most reliable), en-US Yelp, Dealer Rater, and BBB. If you read the en-US reviews, often the individuals are menen-US -en-US tioned. If youve dealt with this company en-US before, others in that company, like the en-US salesman sold you the car, can refer you to a en-US particularly good service salesman. All en-US manufacturers measure the customer en-US satisfaction index of every service salesman. en-US Insist on seeing these scores and find out en-US how the service salesman ranks among his en-USpeers, both in the company and the entire en-US region. Finally, always make an appointment en-US to see that service salesman youve chosen. en-US If hes on vacation or not available for other en-US reasons, wait for your service until he can en-US see you.en-US Finally, when you find yourself a good en-US apple for a service advisor, dont keep it a en-US secret. Tell your friends and tell the service en-US manager and the owner of the dealership. en-US When you do this, youre doing your en-US friends, the service advisor, the service manen-US -en-US ager, and the owner a great favor. Youre also en-US spreading the word that treating customers en-US with honesty and compassion is good for en-US business. ON CARS en-USEARL STEWART

New owners at St Lucie Trail en-USFen-USor a few years now the PGA of en-US America has had the For Sale sign en-US out at St. Lucie Trail Golf Club, in St. en-US Lucie West. The organization purchased the en-US club more than two decades ago when it en-US opened the PGA Village just on the other en-US side of I-95.en-US When it first opened in the late 1980s the en-US course was the jewel of St. Lucie County. en-US Over the years it has gone through every en-US step of being cared for from neglect to en-US pampering. One thing the course never lost en-US was its variety. The course remains a lot of en-US fun to play with a solid mix of holes that en-US challenge you to hit every club in your bag.en-US The new owner is CGI St. Lucie, the en-US same group that owns The Evergreen Club en-US in Palm City. Having played Evergreen and en-US witnessed the great conditions that course en-US is always in, I am quite excited for St. Lucie en-US Trail. Apparently the community is as well, en-US with over 100 new members joining just in en-US the few weeks since the course sold.en-US Were excited to be here, said General en-US Manager, Matt Boyd. We love the layout en-US and the design. We will do everything we en-US can to promote golf here.en-US The new owners plan to address some of en-US the drainage issues the course experiences en-US when those summer thunderstorms move en-US through. They are also listening to the comen-US -en-US munity to see what the members and en-US customers want.en-US If the course was paid a little more en-US attention (by the previous owner), everyone en-US would have been thrilled, said Boyd. We en-US are giving it that attention.en-US A benefit of purchasing the course at this en-US time of year is that business tends to be a en-US little slow. This gives the new owners a en-US chance to address the issues and get the en-US course primed and ready for season.en-US One thing the membership was missing en-US was the country club atmosphere. The club en-US has a beautiful clubhouse that wasnt being en-US used to its potential. The dining room saw en-US over 200 people show up for a dinner shorten-US -en-US ly after the purchase. The pool and tennis en-US courts were also included in the purchase en-US and the green clay courts may be the en-US best-kept secret in the area. However, CGI en-US purchased the club because it loves the golf en-US course.en-US The course has five sets of tees and plays en-US anywhere from just over 5,000 yards long to en-US just over 6,900. The par-4 third hole, at 458 en-US yards from the tips, may just be the longest en-US par-4 in the area. en-US In the 2013 the PGA of America en-US renovated the club. Dick Gray was brought en-US in to focus on getting the course up to its en-US tough standards. The focus was on the en-US playable areas. Getting the course cleaned en-US up and looking good from tee to green was en-US first and foremost. It took a while, but the en-US greens were rebuilt and re-grassed. With a en-US few years of growth in them now, they are en-US about perfect.en-US One recent trend in course renovation is en-US where the areas around the perimeter of the en-US holes are cleaned up and thinned out. Not en-US having thick clumps of palmettos to gobble en-US up slightly errant shots serves a trio of en-US purposes. First, it speeds up play and, en-US second, it makes for a less frustrating round en-US for the average golfer. Thirdly, it creates en-US more airflow across the fairways and greens en-US and allows the course to breathe.en-US If you played here years ago, you will en-US surely remember the palmettos that en-US gobbled up almost every wayward shot. en-US Most of these are gone or well-trimmed. en-US Fairways are wider, and the greens a bit en-US larger. The tall grasses in the wetlands have en-US been cut to a proper height. en-US Now to see what other improvements en-US CGI makes over the coming months. I have en-US a feeling this club is back and ready to en-US re-take its place as a jewel on the Treasure en-US Coast.en-US For more information on the club, en-US memberships and tee times, visit en-US www.en-US en-US or call the pro shop at (772) en-US 340-1444.en-US James Stammer has been an avid golfer en-US and golf enthusiast for nearly 40 years. en-US 17 en-USCinco de Mayo a festival of fooden-USRen-USoughly 60 million Hispanics in the en-US United States will celebrate Cinco de en-US Mayo May 5 with Mexican culture, en-US heritage, and food. en-US Cinco de Mayo is celebrated more in the en-US United States, by Mexicans and Americans en-US alike, than in Mexico, and I can tell you en-US why. Its all about the food. I want a burrito, en-US fajitas, nachos, enchiladas, guacamole, en-US chimichangas, black beans and red beans, en-US now! Oops, dont forget the Margaritas. en-US The most popular ethnic cuisine in en-US America is Mexican. Nachos have replaced en-US chips as a snack, and salsa has pushed en-US ketchup out of its number one condiment en-US spot. en-US Yes, Hispanic food is going wild in the en-US U.S., bringing the heat to food everywhere. en-US Spicy pepper-infused flavors are a hot trend en-US and will continue for years to come. en-US Chili-infused beer is now on the market en-US with a blend of habaneros, jalapenos, en-US serrano and Anaheim peppers. The en-US Hispanic culture is putting flavor and zing en-US in foods.en-US Remember, the heat is in the membrane en-US and seed of the pepper and not in the meat. en-US Try it. Take a jalapeno pepper and just cut en-US the outer green skin off leaving no white or en-US seed and taste it raw. It will taste like green en-US pepper with almost no heat. Another tip en-US when eating Hispanic food is to eat the rice en-US and beans together.
