While the en-US bags can be recycled at many groen-US-en-US cery stores, they are not acceptable en-US in curbside recycling carts. Plastic en-US bags get tangled up in the machinen-US -en-US ery at the recycling facility where en-US Melbournes recycling goes for proen-US -en-US cessing.en-US In addition, Waste Management en-US can no longer accept clam shell en-US containers, the type that hold en-US strawberries and salad mixes, and en-US has never accepted polystyrene, en-US such as egg cartons, officials en-US added.en-US The Curb Contamination proen-US -en-US gram involves routine checks on en-US recycling on Wednesday mornings, en-US which is recycling day throughout en-US Melbourne. I moved down here after en-US my wife and I got married; Shes a 'Brevarden-US -en-US ian.' We were also working with our church en-US and youth group, mentoring kids. Just as I en-US continued my education and the joy of en-US working with young people and helping en-US them find their path, that led me to math en-US education.en-US Dr. Mullins then attended Florida State en-US University for his bachelors degree, folen-US-en-US lowed by earning his masters and doctoren-US -en-US ate degrees in educational leadership from en-US the University of Central Florida.en-US When I was looking for a job, Brevard en-US County came to the table and offered me en-US an opportunity to come teach here, 24 en-US years ago, Dr. Mullins said.en-US He served as a math teacher for Cocoa en-US Beach High School in 1994, eventually en-US moving on as assistant principal at Palm en-US Bay Magnet High School and Southwest en-US Middle School, then principal at Clearlake en-US Middle School and area superintendent for en-US the south region of the district.en-US Thats the joy of teaching, seeing kids en-US discover and really light up about the en-US opportunities for their own future, Dr. en-US Mullins said. The leadership and dedicaen-US -en-US tion of our teachers, staff and our leaders is en-US amazing. [They have] such passion, such en-US conviction to serve our kids with excelen-US -en-US lence.en-US Throughout his experience working en-US with Brevard Public Schools, Dr. Mullins en-US said that time has taught him that, Breen-US -en-US vard takes care of Brevard.en-US Were only the 10th largest school disen-US -en-US trict in the state, but were the second highen-US -en-US est financial contributor to a United Way en-US campaign, Dr. Mullins said.en-US He added that he's amazed to see more en-US than 750 businesses and organizations in en-US the community contribute to helping Breen-US -en-US vard Public Schools.en-US One such organization is The Childrens en-US Hunger Project, which provides weekend en-US meals for elementary school students who en-US would otherwise go without eating until en-US back at school on Mondays.en-US Weve got some great initiatives that en-US really are on the eve of launch that Im very en-US excited about, Dr. Mullins said. Clearly, en-US our safety and secuen-US-en-US rity initiative will be en-US a priority this year to en-US ensure that we meet en-US the needs of our stuen-US -en-US dents and staffs en-US safety in a very en-US strong and focused en-US way.en-US Earlier this year, en-US Brevard Public en-US School worked with en-US local law enforceen-US -en-US ment agencies and en-US the Brevard County Sheriffs Office to creen-US -en-US ate a security plan for schools.en-US With the help of the BCSO, drills will be en-US implemented to train students and staff on en-US how to manage and respond to an active en-US shooter situation.en-US Each Brevard Public School in the new en-US school year will see the addition of a law en-US enforcement officer or armed presence as en-US part of the new security measurements.en-US Another [initiative] is our expansion en-US and enhancement of mental health supen-US-en-US port for students, Dr. Mullins added. en-US Were going to be adding several social en-US workers to our staff this year, or have en-US added, that will be supporting our schools en-US across the district.en-US Weve also added school psychologists, en-US he continued. Weve contracted with some en-US of our counseling agencies right around us en-US to provide counseling services to our kids. en-US Our guidance offices and our risk assessen-US -en-US ment teams will continue to evaluate our en-US students who may need to be referred and en-US provide some additional support.en-US Some other new hires include additional en-US instructional assistants to support guiden-US-en-US ance offices.en-US Weve really taken a holistic approach to en-US helping our students recognize that theyve en-US got support right at school, Dr. Mullins en-US said. We can provide them support outen-US -en-US side of school, and they have vehicles to en-US communicate when and where they may en-US need some additional assistance.en-US Brevard Public Schools will also expand en-US the utilization of the Speakout hot-line en-US through local law enforcement. The Speak en-US-en-US out hot-line was launched last year and can en-US be reached by calling (800) 423-TIPS en-US (8477).en-US One other initiative includes continuing en-US to recruit high quality teachers and worken-US -en-US ers to join Brevard Public Schools.en-US We need virtually every skilled type of en-US worker across the district from trades to en-US four year degrees, in the classroom but also en-US outside the classroom, Dr. Mullins said. en-US We want the best and the brightest comen-US -en-US ing to teach here and lead our kids to their en-US futures. We will continue working on comen-US -en-US petitive compensation.en-US Brevard Public Schools was ranked No. 2 en-US among Floridas 14 large districts in 2017 en-US for overall student achievement, and No. 2 en-US for college and career acceleration.en-US For more information, visit en-USwww.breen-US -en-US vardschools.org.en-US By Brittany Mulliganen-USbmulligan@hometownnewsol.com en-USMullins

And wait I did. For about 30 minen-US-en-US utes.en-US No cop showed up. en-US As I was leaving, I noticed a Palm Bay en-US police cruiser at the drive-thru and deciden-US-en-US ed to follow just to see what might be of en-US more importance than this community en-US interaction. en-US The officer in the car drove to a paved en-US area behind the now abandoned Ace en-US Hardware where he met up with two en-US other cars. en-US There was laughter, comradery, and en-US basically "good times conversation" going en-US on. en-US Having lived in a major northeastern en-US city I interacted with the local police en-US department. I can say the behavior of some en-US officers should be monitored more closely. en-US Other meet up locations? Beef O Brady's en-US (Bayside Lakes) behind Texas Roadhouse, en-US at the south end of parking at the college, en-US and the list goes on. What's up with this?en-USGreat service at career center en-USThe service I received from the staff of en-US the Palm Bay Center was (to say the least) en-US the very best anyone could get.en-US When I found I could reopen an unemen-US -en-US ployment procedure from before and had en-US no idea what to do or how to do it. en-US Problem solved! en-US The following names (in no particular en-US order ) got me through it and as of July 12, en-US distribution was received.en-US Margarita, Jennifer, Rene, Susan, and en-US Carol.en-US All helped me in many ways and en-US explained the procedure. I want to thank en-US them very much for that help and I know en-US that anyone who comes to that center for en-US help will get it.en-US They're the best in the business as far as I en-US am concerned. en-US Thanks to en-USHometown Newsen-US for this en-US opportunity to express my thoughts.en-USPlates say where to parken-USThere seem to be some fake news in en-US "Rants and Raves" concerning parking en-US with Disabled Veterans license plates.en-US Simple online searching leads to Secen-US -en-US tions 316.1955(1), 316.1964, and 320.084 en-US of the Florida Statutes. en-US These it make clear that, in simple terms, en-US the plates serve the same purpose as handien-US -en-US capped tags, in that they allow the person en-US to whom they are issued to park in any en-US spaces designated for handicapped parken-US -en-US ing, free parking at meters and controlled en-US lots such as airports, etc. The privileges are en-US not limited to any federal facilities.en-US I've researched the many surrounding en-US states in which I travel; all honor and recipen-US -en-US rocate Florida's rules.en-USVoting research falls shorten-USI am responding to the article "Pay en-US Attention To Candidates," July 27.en-US I totally agree with you in that every en-US voter has the obligation to examine each en-US candidate and what she/he stands for. en-US You stated that you researched all of en-US them as you do each election. These are all en-US great qualities. However, your research en-US falls short and I cannot agree on your conen-US -en-US clusions.en-US You stated that you cannot vote republien-US -en-US can because they have fallen down on the en-US jobs the state and U.S. Constitution assigns en-US them and which they take an oath to do. en-US Lets see: One of the most important en-US bills passed by this (republican) adminisen-US -en-US tration was the tax reform act which has en-US resulted in: More money for the taxpayer en-US pocket; reducing corporate taxes which en-US allowed return of off shore companies back en-US to our shores and increased jobs by over en-US three million; reduced small business en-US taxes; revived the economy that resulted en-US GDP to go over 4 percent; partial eliminaen-US -en-US tion of the Obamacare act which resulted en-US in taxpayers not having to pay penalties to en-US not receive Obamacare and allowed interen-US -en-US state purchases of health insurance. This en-US resulted in competition and lowering of en-US cost to consumer. There are more results en-US of this tax reform bill on the internet. And en-US yes, not one democrat voted for this bill. en-US Here is a site that lists 81 accomplishen-US -en-US ments by this administration, and mind en-US you, despite the resistance of democrats: en-US https://www.chicksonright.com/en-US blog/2018/01/02/white-house-lists-81-maen-US -en-US jor-accomplishments-of-the-trump-adminen-US -en-US istration/.en-US For your edification, you should examen-US-en-US ine the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments en-USto the constitution, which set the slaves en-US free, made them American citizens and en-US gave them the right to vote. All passed by en-US republicans despite the democrat resisen-US -en-US tance.en-US Perhaps you should reconsider and en-US re-register as a republican.en-USCarefully research candidatesen-USVoting is a privilege, more importantly a en-US very serious responsibility. In order to fulen-US -en-US fill your responsibility, you should carefully en-US research the candidates.en-US Prior to researching, it is important to en-US determine what matters to you. Make a en-US chart with your five, or more, most importen-US -en-US ant issues (taxes, medical insurance and en-US medical care, environmental concerns, gun en-US control, public transportation, educational en-US issues, legalized marijuana (remembering en-US that smoking may cause cancer), minien-US -en-US mum wage laws, more government control en-US of your life (laws requiring solar energy or en-US telling you how you can use your land), en-US state budgeting, policing, etc. en-US Its your list and a great way to put candien-US -en-US dates on a chart showing if they agree or en-US disagree with your views. Babcock St. | Melbourne | 321-757-7522 www.herbcorner.com paper, you can vote with confidence en-USknowing that you have chosen the best en-US candidate for the job with knowledge, en-US not emotion.en-US A reader recently suggested that voting en-US for Gwen Graham offered a great opporen-US -en-US tunity for Florida voters to elect the first en-US woman to office. Voting for someone en-US based on their sex, race, religions, sexual en-US preference, etc. is one of the stupidest en-US ways to pick a candidate. Why? Easy en-US answer. You cannot guarantee the posien-US-en-US tions of a candidate on any of the pigeon en-US holes that you place people in. For examen-US -en-US ple, while one woman is pro-choice, and en-US totally support laws that all abortions are en-US paid by tax-payers, another is pro-life en-US and support all abortions should be outen-US-en-US lawed. A divorced woman would support en-US laws for alimony for life but a woman en-US believing that divorce should be a rare en-US event would support laws that make en-US divorce difficult to obtain.en-US All candidates may be for reforming en-US our judicial system, but that could mean en-US two very different things. One could be en-US for mandatory sentencing, while the en-US other could be for the judge to have total en-US control of the sentence.en-US Read the candidates' websites.en-US Complete candidate research, then ask: en-US Does Florida need this? How are we, as en-US taxpayers, going to pay for it? Is this en-US something that is possible to accomplish en-US and at what expense, like loss of freedom en-US (government telling us how to raise our en-US kids, being forced in using solar energy) en-US or loss of jobs?en-US My best research is talking personally en-US with the candidate. If a candidate knocks en-US on your door or approaches you in a puben-US -en-US lic place, be prepared to ask questions.en-US A school board candidate approached en-US me and asked me for my vote. I knew he en-US was for raising teachers salaries and lowen-US-en-US ering class size. I asked him why all en-US teachers? How high do you plan on raisen-US-en-US ing salaries? To keep up with what others en-US are paying; then when will you stop? All en-US classes? What is the perfect class size en-US number and why? How do you attract the en-US best teachers, but first, how do you define en-US the best teachers? Some teachers are great en-US for one type of student but bad for others, en-US how do you determine that and how do en-US you accomplish getting the right students en-US to the right teachers? The candidate en-US answered a couple of questions with en-US vague answers, ignoring my request to be en-US more specific and then walked away.en-US Do your research, ask questions, and en-US vote intelligently, not for a woman en-US because you are female, or a Hispanic en-US because you are Hispanic, or a straight en-US person, because you are straight, or for a en-US Lutheran, because you are Lutheran but en-US because the candidate is the best person en-US for the job. After the election, whether en-US your candidate is the winner or not, en-US remember the school board member, en-US state attorney, governor, sheriff, mayor en-US etc. is your elected candidate. Support en-US that person, but be vocal in letting him en-US know when he is doing a good job or en-US screwing up.en-GBRantsen-USFrom page 6 en-USBrevard Zoo hosts en-US Homeschool Dayen-USBREVARD COUNTY As part of a en-US homeschool education, its important to also en-US take field trips like any other public school.en-US In order to support Brevard Countys local en-US home-schooled children, Brevard Zoo will en-US host a Homeschool Day on Aug. 20.en-US [The goal of Homeschool Day is] to proen-US -en-US vide a fun, educational experience to homesen-US -en-US chool families while introducing them to our en-US curriculum-based programming, said Elliot en-US Zirulnik, Communications Manager at Breen-US-en-US vard Zoo.en-US Homeschool Day involves introducing en-US Brevard Zoos customized programming for en-US home-schooled children to students and paren-US -en-US ents.en-US We host twice-monthly classes for en-US 5-year-olds and 9-year-olds, Mr. Ziren-US -en-US ulnik explained. The treatments were to start about en-US the same time as the CrossFit Open. I en-US continued to work out and compete. The en-US doctor would tell me that I might expeen-US -en-US rience fatigue and would ask me each en-US week if I was experiencing any. I would en-US tell him I just finished a hard workout, en-US so yes I was pretty tired. Some days I en-US might have been more tired than usual, en-US but not enough to stop the workouts.en-US My gym family and coaches were en-US always there to encourage me, Mr. en-US Ogden added.en-US Fifteen supporters followed Mr. en-US Ogden to Madison to watch him comen-US -en-US pete in the CrossFit Games. He competen-US -en-US ed in a number of events, including the en-US Open Water Swim event, where he en-US placed fourth.en-US To add to his successes, Mr. Ogdens en-US cancer treatment was successful, and he en-US now lives cancer-free.en-US I love the challenge of working on en-US something and Im failing and failing en-US and failing and failing, and then I get it, en-US Mr. Ogden told CrossFit officials.
