Officers handed out 165 ticken-US -en-US ets and 40 warnings during the three-day en-US period.en-US You cant express it enough, this isnt en-US about us writing tickets just to write ticken-US-en-US ets, said Acting Commander Cheryl en-US Trainer of the Melbourne Police Departen-US -en-US ment. I volunen-US -en-US teered to do the newsletter and as time en-US evolved, quickly I became the leader of the en-US group. It has been very rewarding, and with en-US the help of members and an excellent advien-US -en-US sory board, we have grown to a membership en-US of 250 folks on our email list, and an average en-US attendance at meetings of 30 to 65. Our en-US seminars average 200 attendees.en-US According to officials, the seminar will be en-US focused on three main topics.en-US Dr. Ira Goodman of BioClinica will proen-US -en-US vide information about the latest clinical trien-US -en-US als for Parkinsons disease, officials stated. en-US Susan Blakeslee of VITAS Healthcare will en-US lead a discussion on the relationship en-US dynamics and challenges for Parkinsons en-US patients and their spouses/caregivers, and en-US details on the Rock Steady Boxing exercise en-US program will be presented by fitness trainers en-US Janice Moia of Advance Fitness and David en-US DiQuollo of Unlimited Kickboxing. en-US Event sponsorships for the free event are en-US providing funding for Rock Steady Boxing en-US training and certification for the aforemenen-US-en-US tioned facilitators.en-US One Senior Place and PSGB began worken-US -en-US ing together last October during the PSGB en-US Parkinsons Care Fair, which was a huge en-US success, according to one official.en-US Mrs. Kreps also discussed some of the en-US challenges of working with people suffering en-US from Parkinsons Disease, or have recently en-US learned that they have the disease.en-US I receive calls from folks who are in en-US shock, angry, and/or depressed, and I do my en-US best to listen and encourage them, Mrs. en-US Kreps said. Sometimes I think it keeps me en-US too focused on Parkinsons since I also walk en-US this journey but it has given my diagnosis en-US purpose, and made a difference, and I am en-US grateful for the opportunity to make it en-US something positive.en-US It also is hard to keep encouraging everyen-US-en-US one diagnosed to realize that exercise is 50 percent of delaying the progression of en-USthis disease, Mrs. Kreps continued. That is en-US why we are so excited to finally offer Rock en-US Steady Boxing in this area. It is internationen-US -en-US ally known and documented that this form en-US of exercise improves the condition considen-US -en-US erably and at the same time provides team en-US participation.en-US The PSGB helps provide support through en-US once-a-month meetings at The Fountains in en-US Palm Bay on the fourth Thursday of the en-US month, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.en-US We have special speakers and share our en-US experiences and compare notes as we walk en-US this journey together, Mrs. Kreps explained. en-US Our motto is you are not alone. en-US For more information about the event, en-US call (321) 751-6771. en-USBy Austin Rushnellen-USarushnell@hometownnewsol.com en-USyears ago at Wickham Park as she was riden-US -en-US ing horses in a ring. There was a gopher en-US tortoise nearby, she said, when someone en-US went to pick the tortoise up and bring it to en-US the pond.en-US I told the person that gopher tortoises en-US dont swim and theyre protected so you en-US cant pick them up and move them, Ms. en-US Lee said. Theyll drown if theyre in en-US water. The person heard me but kind of en-US ignored me so my mom had to speak up en-US for that.en-US Ms. Lee took the initiative to educate en-US the public about the importance of gopher en-US tortoises, which are a threatened species en-US in Florida, by creating Gopher Tortoise en-US Crossing signs and educational signs to en-US be placed in Wickham Park.en-US Ms. Lee was also able to get the support en-GBScouten-USFrom page 1en-GB Seeen-GB en-GB SCOUTen-GB page 9

When I en-US first got here, I dont know if I could say en-US that.en-US Some of the challenges Mr. Lynk faced en-US three years ago when he left the private en-US sector to work for Palm Bay included a en-US residential community with little to no en-US growth, lack of a commercial base and en-US neglected infrastructure.en-US One of his marching orders from the en-US City Council was to make the city a busien-US-en-US ness-friendly environment.en-US Speaking predominantly to business en-US community members during the April 4 en-US Chamber of Commerce meeting, Mr. en-US Lynk referred to the city as a business.en-US Palm Bay as a corporation is worth en-US $3.7 billion, he said. We have to take en-US care of it and grow it.en-US In 2015, Lynk and city staff members en-US set a three-year goal of $320 million in en-US new development with 20 percent of that en-US coming from commercial growth.en-US We met that goal and surpassed it, he en-US said.en-US As of March 2018, $541 million had en-US gone through the citys growth manageen-US-en-US ment department with 20 percent of that en-US being commercial.en-US The city also refinanced $35 million of en-US its debt, which resulted in a first-year saven-US-en-US ings of $800,000. The money was used to en-US purchase new police cars.en-US Over the life of the debt, the city will en-US save $8 million, Mr. Lynk said.en-US Additionally, the city is looking at an en-US annual savings of more than $1.2 million en-US after the strategic reorganization of the en-US city attorneys office in which several outen-US-en-US sourced programs such as risk manageen-US -en-US ment and workers compensation were en-US brought in-house.en-US He addressed the change last year to the en-US citys stormwater funding program, which en-US was plagued by collection problems en-US with millions of dollars outstanding. en-US Now its on the tax bill and we have 100 en-US percent collection, he said.en-US A sign of the stormwater programs sucen-US-en-US cess, Mr. Lynk said, is that Garvey Road en-US north of Jupiter Boulevard will open soon. en-US The city will then move on to the en-US much-needed stormwater system repairs en-US on Nevada Drive in northeast Palm Bay. en-US The city has earmarked $55 million to en-US expand water and sewer services in the en-US city to accommodate new development.en-US Mr. Lynk breezed through a list of en-US planned developments in all quadrants of en-US the city including a 340-unit apartment en-US complex on RJ Conlan Boulevard, as well en-US as a residential and commercial developen-US-en-US ment near the recently opened St. Johns en-US Heritage Parkway in northwest Palm Bay.en-US We want people to live, work and play en-US in Palm Bay, Mr. Lynk said.en-US To speed up the permitting process for en-US developers, the city is investing in e-peren-US -en-US mitting, which is expected to bring quicken-US-en-US er approval and would allow developers to en-US schedule inspections through a simple en-US text message.en-US Developers pay an impact fee to the city en-US because of the impact their developments en-US have on roads, infrastructure and parks, en-US and Mr. Lynk said the impact fees alone en-US for a project in southeast Palm Bay called en-US Emerald Lakes are expected to be $82 en-US million.en-US Thats how a city gets healthy, he said. en-US8 p.m.en-US Thursdays:en-US Co-ed Community en-US Volleyball (ages 16 years and older) from en-US 6 to 8:30 p.m. $1.en-US Fridays:en-US Late Night Basketball (ages 8 en-US -17 years) from 8 to 11 p.m. $1.en-US All events take place in the Joseph N. en-US Davis Community Center. 2547 Grant St., en-US Melbourne.en-US For more information, call (321) 608-en-US 7460.en-USTUESDAY, APRIL 24en-USKaraoke night: en-US Elks Lodge No. 1744 en-US welcomes Elks and guests to their lodge, en-US 211 S. King Center for the Performing en-USIen-USt is a rare thing to see a film that en-US attempts to showcase a horror story, en-US with the nuances of a family tale.en-US Released on April 6, "A Quiet Place" is a en-US post-apocalyptic horror-suspense film en-US about a family struggling to survive. In en-US the film, the world has been overrun by en-US creatures which are hypersensitive to en-US sounds, viciously attacking anything that en-US makes noise.en-US At the first instance of meeting the en-US Abbot family (who are never explicitly en-US named within the film), Earth has already en-US been overcome by the creatures. The creaen-US -en-US tures are not well-defined for the audien-US -en-US ence, and director/lead actor John Kraen-US -en-US sinski rather refreshingly lets the audience en-US make their own interpretations as to the en-US situation at hand as the film progresses.en-US The Abbot family consists of parents en-US Evelyn and Lee, Reagan, their deaf daughen-US-en-US ter, Marcus, and Beau, their youngest son.en-US The family seeks to survive in the en-US near-silent world through their ingenuity. en-US Communicating almost exclusively in en-US American Sign Language (ASL), the en-US Abbot family is shown in the film as deepen-US -en-US ly caring, integrated in unity.en-US One of the most interesting decisions en-US by Mr. Krasinski was to hire deaf actress en-US Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott, en-US which led to a real feeling of not only fluen-US -en-US ency in ASL in the characters, but also en-US how ASL was portrayed. For example, as en-US the teenage Regan signs to her father, en-US stop, the heel of her hand strikes her en-US other palm with a force that is as emoen-US -en-US tionally believable as it is physically.en-US Visually speaking, "A Quiet Place" finds en-US both a balance in maturity and entertainen-US -en-US ment. There are scenes where lesser direcen-US-en-US tors might have allowed for a "jump-en-US scare," which is only too tempting in a en-US modern horror film with so many silent en-US scenes.en-US Instead, "A Quiet Place" acknowledges en-US this temptation with minor changes in the en-US score, and often makes the more prudent en-US decision to let the scene develop naturally.en-USHoroscopes FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 2018 en-USMELBOURNEen-US WWW.HOMETOWNNEWSBREVARD.COM PAGE 11en-US'A Quiet Place' is horror with feelingen-USDining en-US &en-US Entertainmenten-USARIES March 21/April 20en-USAries, soon you will be able to clarify your en-US thinking and articulate your needs to others. en-US Until then, you need to wait for an opportunity en-US to share your point of view.en-USTAURUS April 21/May 21en-USTaurus, if you have been struggling with a chalen-US-en-US lenging situation, youll get some much-needen-US-en-US ed support this week.
