Its not all en-US substance abuse like we think. en-US Mr. Rebmans mass education camen-US-en-US paign started with Palm Bay and was met en-US with a positive response from the city en-US council.en-US Palm Bay is the largest community in en-US Brevard County with the least number of en-US facilities for homeless people, Mr. Reben-US -en-US man said. For me, Palm Bay is the first en-US step.en-US Next, hell head to Cocoa and Titusville, en-US and hopes to set up meetings with offien-US -en-US cials in each of Brevard Countys cities.en-US For Palm Bay, Mr. Redman proposed en-US three action steps, including the opening en-US of a cold-night shelter before the next cold en-US season, identifying nonprofit and faith en-US organizations in the area to assist with the en-US effort, and consideration by the city to en-US fund case managers like Orlando does.en-US Your request is nothing out of the ordien-US -en-US nary, said Mayor William Capote. The en-US fact that were here, having this discusen-US -en-US sion, breaks the barrier.en-US Mayor Capote said he anticipates a en-US struggle getting buy-in from some resien-US-en-US dents, knowing it is sometimes easier to en-US look the other way.en-US People need to have an understanding en-US that some people are homeless not of their en-US own doing, Mayor Capote said.en-US Mr. Rebman agreed. They have burned en-US every relationship they have and thats en-US why theyre homeless, he said. Building en-US relationships with these people is whats en-US working all throughout the country.en-US Councilman Tres Holton reiterated the en-US need for collaboration. Its going to take en-US all of us in partnership: the faith-based en-US community, businesses and special interen-US -en-US est groups, he said.en-US Mr. Redman has enlisted the help of the en-US Brevard Homeless Coalition, LEAD Breen-US-en-US vard and the United Way, and has been in en-US touch with more than 15 faith community en-US leaders. en-US Councilman Harry Santiago, Jr. en-US requested that city staff collect informaen-US -en-US tion about the number of homeless people en-US in Palm Bay and find out what needs they en-US have. en-US City Manager Gregg Lynk has been en-US tasked with reviewing city laws and ordien-US-en-US nances prior to the mid-May workshop.en-US Through education we can end this en-US problem for good, Councilman Brian en-US Anderson said.en-US By Amy Lyonen-USFor Hometown News en-UStoilet can waste thousands of gallons of en-US water each month.en-US Installing low-flow toilets and showen-US -en-US erheads. en-USLen-USife, liberty, and the pursuit of happien-US -en-US ness. Where have we heard those en-US words?en-USWe hear a lot about children: lunch en-US programs, a tax to fund schools, the en-US need to pay teachers more. But how en-US many of us really know the cost of en-US aging? Try some research on the interen-US -en-US net or listen to neighbors or family en-US members who are not as well off as you en-US might be. Think about the many that en-US live on Social Security; a spouse dies en-US and the widow or widower tried to eke en-US it out on one check. And, if you think I en-US am exaggerating, I assure you I am not.en-US Before 1935 we had never heard the en-US words social security except in a dictioen-US -en-US nary and not linked together as we do en-US today. Many thought this program en-US would sustain them in their old age, but en-US today we know better. Still, some people en-US want to rely on Social Security as a prien-US-en-US mary source of income. While we do en-US not have to fund or even help such peoen-US-en-US ple, not everyone who falls into this caten-US -en-US egory gets there intentionally; rather it en-US happens as a result of many factors. Lets en-US just say it is an inevitable circumstance en-US and plan for it.en-US The words life and happiness hit at en-US the heart of todays article. Recently I en-US answered our helpline for three days. en-US One caller was trying to find affordable en-US housing for a friend whose income en-US would be halved by a death the new en-US income of $1,100 would not even cover en-US the cost of the mobile home and elecen-US -en-US tricity. In another situation, the caller en-US could no longer afford his home when en-US the rent was raised. The third call too en-US was for affordable housing. No one had en-US a retirement fund, qualified for veterans en-US benefits, or had any other source readily en-US available.en-US It is difficult to live or be happy if one en-US cannot afford the cost of existence, and en-US that is exactly what I am referring to in en-US todays article. Affordable housing is a en-US topic that needs more than just discusen-US -en-US sion. Every year en-US Melbourne has a wonderful St. Patricks Day en-US Parade. We tell our friends and family how en-US great it is and look forward to it every year. en-US Well, with the exception of this year.en-US We arrived very early, acquired a good en-US location and set back for a fun parade. en-US Directly across the street were 14 children, en-US with various parents. These children were en-US on the street. en-US When one group in the parade came by en-US you could not tell who was in the parade en-US because the children were everywhere. en-US An antique car had a radiator hose bust. en-US The driver did an excellent job of getting it en-US off the road. The hot fluid went down en-US instead of flying out to the side. These chilen-US -en-US dren could have been seriously injured. Still en-US no one told them to step back. en-US An older gentleman on a scooter pulled en-US in front of us and stopped. He was so close en-US to the vehicles in the parade that he actually en-US shook hands (while seated on his scooter) en-US with two different drivers in the parade. en-US Before anyone says, well he may have been a en-US veteran, my husband is a 39-year Army veten-US-en-US eran and the other gentlemen with us is a en-US 20-year veteran. en-US Safety should be everyone's concern. Paren-US -en-US ents, keep your children out of the street. en-US Folks on scooters or in wheelchairs stay out en-US of the roadway. Police, you do a great job but en-US you are the authority. You are the ones who en-US will have to come to the aid of someone who en-US gets hurt. en-US Please ask folks to get back once the en-US parade has started. Parade organizers, invest en-US in a bullhorn and announce for everyone to en-US stay back as the parade passes by. en-US Lets enjoy a great parade with safety first.en-USBeachgoers, please follow en-US en-US some simple rulesen-USMost people go to the beach for its peace, en-US tranquility and a beautiful view. They were there en-US first. Dont block their view of the ocean. en-US 4) Dont sit directly in front of another en-US party. Follow us on Facebook.com/Personalitiesofthepast.com ~ FIND IT HERE ~ Dogs on the beach? Cocoa Beach debates en-USBREVARD COUNTY People love their en-US dogs, and people love the beach but not en-US everyone loves other peoples dogs on their en-US beach.en-US An ordinance to allow dogs on a section en-US of Cocoa Beach is currently being drafted, en-US and the comment sections online are already en-US full of discussions.en-US From what I have heard, there is a posien-US -en-US tive dialogue for responsible pet owners en-US leashing and cleaning up after their pets on en-US the beach, said Jennifer Sugarman, presien-US -en-US dent and CEO of the Cocoa Beach Regional en-US Chamber of Commerce. There is another en-US opinion in the community that these desigen-US-en-US nated areas should remain specific and few en-US in nature away from condo owners. Its a en-US mixed bag of opinions, really.en-US The ordinance would allow for the curen-US -en-US rent area of the Lori Wilson Dog Park to be en-US extended to the shoreline, before 10 a.m. and en-US after 6 p.m.en-US Dog access should be allowed, but at en-US more restrictive times and away from the en-US touristed areas on which we depend ecoen-US -en-US nomically and have to show our best face as en-US a community that needs their dollars, said en-US one commenter on en-USIloveCocoaBeach.comen-US en-US This is really (or should be) an accommoen-US-en-US dation for locals, who have a reliable, vested en-US interest in cleaning after themselves and proen-US -en-US tecting where we live. Tourists/visitors from en-US elsewhere do not realistically have an expecen-US-en-US tation of allowing their dogs on the beach in en-US the typically touristed/visitor areas.en-US Please, no dogs on the beach, another en-US commenter said. Unfortunately, some dog en-US owners ruin it for everyone else. They do not en-US have their dogs on leashes, do not pick up en-US the doggie poop, and allow their dogs to en-US bark incessantly at birds, people and other en-US dogs. en-US For those of you who show accountabilien-US -en-US ty and responsibility, thank you, the writer en-US continued. However, most do not. I dont en-US want to step where dogs have urinated or en-US [defecated], nor do I want my grandchild to en-US step or play in sand which has both mixed in en-US it.en-US The ordinance would call for dogs to be en-US on a small section of the beach near the curen-US -en-US rent dog park, provided that they are leashed.en-US Yes, I would love to see our dogs enjoying en-US the beach; I think people that care about en-US their dogs will pick up behind them, one en-US commenter said. I do question the people en-US that visit our beach and forget to pick up en-US their own garbage.en-US Currently, the only beach in Brevard en-US County that allows dogs is Canova Beach en-US Park, 3299 State Road A1A, just east of the en-US Eau Gallie Causeway intersection.en-US Open from sunrise to sunset, the park en-US provides a 700-foot strip of shoreline for en-US dogs, which must be leashed and must wear en-US tags showing their current license and vaccien-US -en-US nations. Waste bags and receptacles are en-US available. en-US By Austin Rushnellen-USarushnell@hometownnewsol.com en-USAlex Schierholtz/staff photographeren-USAlex Cooper of Palm Bay with his two dogs at Canova Beach Park, the en-US only Brevard County beach that allows dogs. What separates your business from its competition in the county? Our automatic car wash uses special foam brushes which repel dirt while gently buffing your paint at the same time. This technology works so much better at actually cleaning the vehicle than the old touchless car washes or worse the automatics with brush material that absorbs dirt and spreads it onto the next vehicle. The company who produces our automatic, also produces the automatic which Lamborghini uses to wash vehicles fresh off the line. Plus, many people dont know this, but our automatic is newly installed and is less than two years old! Why did you open your business? We recently bought this business because we have a combination of car wash ownership/operations interest, excellent work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to continuing to provide a quality product and service. What are your top-selling items/services? Our top-selling car wash is definitely the Works Wash which includes Rain-X surface protectant and Armor All wax. The Full Service Detail is our top-selling detail service. The clay bar treatment really helps to preserve the life of your vehicles paint. For those who have not done business with you, why should they? We enjoy taking care of cars. It makes us feel good when we see a nice clean car leave our parking lot.
