By the best information I have received, there
were at Martinico and Guadaloupe about two thousand
men,provincial troops,and only one frigate, La Brune;
at Tobago, one company of miserable soldiers and one
eight gun sloop.
But I have intelligence from Philadelphia that
there were lately in Boston Roads, seven sail of the
line destined for the West Indies.
I have the honour to be, My Lord,
Most obedient and most humble servant
Secretary of State.
