The Council reports that it has received a letter from
Juan de Galarraga written in Paris on the 24th September 1634.
Juan de Galarraga states that he was on the way to Spain
as Procurator General for the Province of Guayana and the
Island of Trinidad with the object of urging the necessity of
protecting these places against the enemy and other matters
when he was captured by Jacques Anselmo, a French Corsair
when between Dominica and Martinique and carried
He also states that it is notorious that the English and
Dutch intend to take these places and fortify them. It is
urgently necessary to send help at once to these two provinces.
