SUMMARY.
THE KING-To the Cabildo of the Town of San Thome
in the Province of Guayana.

He acknowledged receipt of their letter dated the
26th January with an account of the attack upon that Town by
Guaterral. He regretted the death of Don Diego Palameque
de Acuna and is appreciative of their gallant defence against
heavy odds which has fulfilled a glorious purpose in the
greatest cause of all-the Catholic Faith against the heretical
enemies.

He had already sent orders to the Governors of Porto Rico
and Cumana to help them by sending men to San Thome.
He has also ordered the Governor of Porto Rico to send them
20 muskets, 20 arquebuses, 8 cwts. of powder, 2 cwts. of
gun matches and 4 cwts. of lead.
