SAN JOSEF, TRINIDAD,
26th August, 1684.
SUMMARY.
The Alcaldes of Trinidad notify Don Juan Munoz Gadea,
the Governor of Margarita, that on this day the French
Fleet of vessels entered the port of the Island with two large
ships, a balandra and two boats. They have 430 men or
more a3 we know for certain from some of the prisoners
taken in Guayana. Also with them they have the Governor
of this Province and all the booty. They are wanting
provisions and supplies.
This is reported to you in the interests of the Royal
Service of His Majesty so that Your Lordship may warn
the whole coast.

We will report any further news to Your Lordship.

May God preserve Your Lordship many years.
