SOMETIMES THE GOVERNOR IS RIGHT ,

Governor Claude Kirk is not only quite adept at making U. S. D. A. ChoiceCHUCK
flashy headlines; but, he is never lacking for sparring partnersIn

a good, hot controversy. 5O

ROAST
Neither is he particular about whom he (takes on as a sparring *
partner in his many political escapades. Some of the more
noteworthy are Tom Adams Floyd Christian Phil Constans
Verle Pope and Richard Nixon. U. S. D. A. ChoiceSHOULDER
He is not even particular about which political party he
sparrs with. Generally it is the Democrats; but he has takenon '
the chairman of the Republican Party in Florida as well as STEAK Ib.Lyke's 7W'

the entire George Wallace Party. ,,' .
But, last week he did the most unbelievable and took on
everybody in both parties in both houses of the state legislatureat "Sugar Creek" SMOKED SHOULDER SLICED FREE

Not satisfied to assault the legislature, he rankled the ire of
a' Dade Circuit Judge who blew the whistle on the governor and PICNICS 41 accused him of trying to Intimidate the judiciary. The B
judge signed an 'affidavit which would certainly tend
to incriminate the governor. If the charges are true the gov-
ernor's actions are worthy of definite legal pursuits.. -

But sometimes (the governor is right. ,And, we believe he Lyke's "Sugar Creek" SLICED Copeland's "ALL MEAT"FRANKS ,

Every member.of legislature knew when he was campaigning Fresh Florida;Grade:"A" D & D (2i/4-2l/a: lb. Avg.) CUT TO ORDER
for office that the salary was $100 per'month. We have '
not heard of a single one who told the voters (that if elected he
would raise'his.own salary to $1000,per'month. '
We do believe that a salary:increase was in order due to the 31Small
Increased responsibilities of the legislators in annual sessions .
and continuous interim committee assignments. But to pass a '
1000%'increase In salary even before they had considered adopt-
ing a balanced budget was'just too much.
The legislature reacted rather violently to the veto as if Meaty1 i
