Abstract: The construction of new power plants can increase the electric bills for customers. University of Florida professor Dr. Barney Capehart thinks that a way to keep the costs the same without increases is to reduce the demand on the part of the customers by introducing load management on non- essential loads as air conditioning, space heaters, etc. As long as electric companies gain profit from the way the Public Service Commission rates are structured then the costs will increase as more power plants are built to fill the need. Conserving power by load management could be an answer.
