Abstract: Car engines could perhaps benefit from the use of ceramic components in the engine. Although ceramics are usually brittle University of Florida scientists are studying ceramics at the atomic level using computer modeling. Breakthroughs have been made such as Dr. Hench’s bio glass research but for now it is the Japanese who are working in ceramic research. It will take a nationwide effort for the U.S. to catch up.
