Abstract: Artifacts, mainly ancient canoes, have been found at the bottom of Lake Cowpen once the water line receded due to drought. University of Florida associate professor, Barbara A. Purdy, expresses her concerns about the canoes fast rate of deterioration once they are uncovered if they cannot receive proper preservation attention.
