observance throughout the British Com-
monwealth.
At the time of my Coronation I was
deeply touched by the loyalty and
.affection shown to me by the young
people of many lands, and I have happy
,memories of those whom I met during
my recent journey overseas. I ask them
during the years ahead to sustain me
with their prayers as they did at my
Coronation.
I ask them too to remember that as
citizens of our great Commonwealth
they inherit privileges and duties of
which they must prepare themselves to
be worthy. I pray that in these years
of preparation they may go forward
with confidence in their high destiny
and with affection for each other as
brothers and sisters in one world-wide
Family, learning to serve God and the
Commonwealth by striving each for the
good of all.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
NOTICES.

COTTON CROP 1953-1954.

All growers are hereby notified that!
the whole of the St. Vincent Superfine
Sea Island Cotton Crop 1953-54 has
been sold on the basis of 1st White lint
at 62 pence per lb. This is a consider-
able advance on the previous year's
price of 54 pence per lb.
The 1953-54 crop only totalled 376
bales 1st White as against the 1952-53
crop of 808 bales 1st White'.
It is hoped that the early sale of cot-
ton together with a good advance in
price will stimulate greater production
of this valuable crop in 1954-55.
A good and thorough clean up in this
close season, good and early preparation
of land, early planting, the increased
use of fertilisers and careful attention
should bring higher returns per acre
and make cotton a worthwhile crop.
