EDUCATION NOTICE.

A (!ompetitivr examination for the
award of scholar ips for ihnys aind girls

Girls' High School will be held at the
Richmond Hill Government School on
Friday the 2nd October, 1953, beginning
at 9.00 a.m.
2. The Scholarships are open to pupils
attending Government or Assisted Pri-
mary Schools or Private Schools which
satisfy the requirements of the Board of
Education, and entitle the holders to
free tuition, games and library fees :nd
the necessary school books and station-
ery. A maintenance grant at the rate of
ninety-six dollars per annum is payable
to scholarship holders whose normal
place of residence is at least two miles
from the limits of Kingstown measured
by the shortest public highway and who
have to live away from home for the
purpose of taking advantage of the
scholarship.
3. Candidates must:-
(a). Have been less than 12 yalis of
age on the 15th of Septembl r,
1953. Age must be proved l \ a
birth or baptismal certificate.
(b) Have attended a Government or
Assisted Primary School or Pri-
vate School which satisfies the
requirements of the Board of
Education, during the twelve
months preceding the 15th Sep-
tember, 1953, for not less than 75%
of the maximum attendances-
possible during such period, as
shown in the Attendance Register-
kept in the school.
(c) Furnish certificates of good con-
duct from the Head Teacher or
Head Teachers of such school or
schools.
(d) Be natives of the Colony, or
children of natives or have been
residentin the Colony for at least-
two years.
4. The Education Officer is empowered
to accept for examination any candidate-
who, through illness has failed to com-
ply with the requirements of paragraph
3 (b) above, with respect to the number
of attendances.
5. No Scholarship shall be awiard(d to
any cimdidate who obtains less thin
one-third of the possillie marks in each
subject anil less than one-hilf ol the-
total possible marks in the examination.
6. Scholarships are awarded for a

Notice is hereby given that a compet-
itive examination for the award of the
annual Kingstown Town Board Scholar-
ships for two boys and two girls tenable
at tbo Grammar School and the Girls'
High School will be convened at the

STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS,

1953, No. 31.

AIR TRANSPORT (LICENSING OF AI SERVICES)
(AMENDMENT) REGULATE nS.
(Gazetted 8th September, 1953.)

1. Short Title. These Regulations may be cited as. ansi
(Licensing of Air Services) (Amendment) Regulations, 1i53, and as
one with the Air Transport (Licensing of Air Services) Regulations, 1952-(S.R. & O.
1952, No. 94) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations).

2. Regulation 2 of principal Regulations amended. Regulation 2
of the principal Regulations is hereby amended by inserting after the definition of
"permit" therein, the following definition :-
(viia) 'provisional licence' means a licence granted under Regulation 14 of
these Regulations."

3. Regulation 4 of principal Regulations Amended. Regulation
4 of the principal Regulations is hereby amended by inserting between the words
"licence and granted appearing in line 5 thereof the words or a provisional
licence."

4. Addition of new Regulation. After Regulation 20 of the principal
Regulations the following new Regulation shall be added-
"20 A. APPLICATION TO PROVISIONAL LICENCE. Any reference to
licence in paragraphs (2) and (3) of Regulation 6, Regulations 16, 17 and 19
of these Regulations shall be construed as including references to a
provisional licence."
Made by the Governor with the approval of the Secretary of State under
section 5 of the Air Navigation Act 1936 as applied to the Colony by the Colonial
Air Navigation (Application of Acts) Orders, 1937 to 1947 this 29th day of August,
1953.
