DEPARTURE OF GOVERNOR FOR GRENADA.


With reference to Government Notice No. 430 of 25th August,
1953, His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Edward Betham Beetham,
C.M.G., C.V.O., O.B.E., accompanied by Mrs. Beetham, left the
Colony for Grenada by air at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.

VISIT OF ADMINISTRATOR TO BRITISH GUIANA.

His Honour Walter Fleming Coutts, C.M.G., M.B.E., Adminis-
trator, St. Vincent, left the Colony for British Guiana by air at
11.30 a.m. yesterday on official duty.
His Honour expects to return to the Colony by air on 9th Sep-
tember.
7th September, 1953.

ACTING ADMINISTRATOR.

Mr. Osmund Randolph Kelsick, D.F.C., Assistant Administra-
tor, on the 6th September, 1953, took the prescribed Oaths in ac-
cordance with the provisions of Subsection (2) of Article 7 of the
Windward Islands Letters Patent bearing date 27th August, 1951,
and assumed the Administration of the Government of St. Vin-
cent consequent upon and during the absence from the Colony of
His Honour W. F. Coutts, Administrator.
Mr. Kelsick will, during this short period, also perform his sub-
stantive duties.
7th September, 1953.

APPOINTMENT.
Mr. E. A. Heyliger has been appointed to be a Magistrate, Dis-
tricts I and II, for one month with effect from 4th September, 1953.
Mr. Heyliger will act as Coroner in those Districts in addition to
the Magistrate of the Colony.
