APPEAL

BY -
HIs EXCELLTENCY THE ACTING GOV-
ERNO-R, MR. W. F. COUTTS, M.B.E.
To -
PEOPLE OF ST. VINCENT.

You will by now have heard of the
immense devastation which has taken
place on the East Coast of England as a
result of a recent hurricane and flooding.
No less than three hundred people have
lost their lives, many others are missing
and eight hundred are homeless. The
Prime Minister has declared that it is a
national responsibility, and the Lord
Mayor of London has opened a Distress
Fund.
Many persons in these Islands know
of the help which has been given by the
United Kingdom to Jamaica and Anti-
gua in similar circumstances recently
and to all of us in different ways, and
many may wish to help the families of
those who have been bereft if only as a
gesture of the ties which bind us. I am
therefore asking that you should con-
tribute something, however small, to a
Windward Islands Appeal to assist the
Lord Mayor's Fund.
He gives twice who gives quickly."
This Appeal will be closed on 28th
