DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE MINISTRY OF

CHOOSE A CAREER IN AGRICULTURE

Applications are invited for vacant posts of
Agricultural Instructor from both male and
female citizens of the State who are over 17
years.

The science of Agriculture has many facets
and successful applicants will be encouraged to
find and satisfy their own particular interest in
the field by on-the-job training in the first in-
stance and later through study opportunities
abroad if they show dedication to the profession.

Qualifications:
Applicants without a secondary education will
be considered if they are good practical agricul-
turalists and of the right personality, but those
having passes in Botany, Biology or Zoology,
Chemistry, Mathematics and English at Ordin-
ary or Advanced Level G.C.E. would start with
an advantage.

Appointment:
The appointment is pensionable and will be
for a probationary period of two (2) years in
the first instance.

VACANT POST OF SENIOR MEDICAL OFFICER,
ST. VINCENT


Applications are invited from suitably quali-
fied persons for the vacant post of Senior Medical
Officer, Ministry of Health, Housing, Community
Development & Local Government, St. Vincent.

Qualifications: Medical qualifications regis-
trable in the United Kingdom, including a
qualification and experience in Public Health.
Experience in a similar post in the Caribbean
would be an asset.

Salary and Allowances: The appointment may
be on a permanent and pensionable basis or on
contract for a period of two to three years and
will be subject to medical fitness. Salary $13,200
E.C., plus pay addition of $900 per annum along
with Overseas Service Aid Scheme allowances
where the successful candidate qualifies for
these. If on contract 25% of salary is payable
as gratuity on successful completion. Private
practice is not allowed, but an allowance of 25%
of salary is payable in lieu thereof. A trans-
port allowance is attached to the post.

Passages: Free passages in the case of a
contract, return passages will be provided for
the officer, his wife and children not exceeding
.ix persons in all. Children must be under 18
years of age, unmarried and dependent on the
officer.

Quarters: If Government quarters are avail-
able these will be rented to the officer at a rental
not exceeding 121,%% of salary up to a maximum
of $100 per month. An OSAS officer will be
eligible for furnished quarters provided by Gov-
ernment at a rental of 121/%.

Leave: Thirty (30) working days per annum
out of which twelve (12) working days com-
pulsory leave must be taken annually. Leave
will be granted only after one (1) year of resi-
dent service.

Duties: The Officer is the Head of the Medi-
cal and Health Department and will be required
to advise the Minister of Health on all medical
and public health matters in the State, including
the organisation and supervision of all Medical
Institutions and District Health and Medical
Services; also to carry out such other duties not
inconsistent with those of the post which may be
assigned to him by his Ministry.

Applications accompanied by proof of quali-
fications and experience, two recent testimonials
and a recent photograph should be submitted to
the Chief Personnel Officer, Service Commissions
Department, Kingstown, St. Vincent, to reach
him not later than 15th March 1976. Appli-
cants already in Government Service should
apply. through their respective Governments.

as a religious denomination


It is notified for general information that
Cabinet on the 10th February, 1976 advised
approval for the Church of God of Prophecy to
be declared a Religious denomination for the
purpose of the Marriage Ordinance Cap. 151
of the Revised Laws of St. Vincent.

VACANCY NOTICES


Applications are invited for the post of
Student Radiographer in the Medical Depart-
ment of the Ministry of Health, Housing, Com-
munity Development and Local Government.
Applicants should possess relevant G.C.E.
subjects as this is primarily a scientific training
course and should be aged about 18 to 20 years.
Training will be conducted at the Kingstown
General Hospital and Associated Medical Insti-
tutions followed by a two year period of over-
seas training to those Candidates who show
the correct aptitude towards a career in Radio-
graphy.

conditions of service can be obtained.

Clerk/Typist
1. Accountant The candidate for this posi-
tion should possess qualifications in accountancy
equivalent to two years professional training at
the intermediate level, and a minimum of three
years practical experience wih a commercial firm.
The successful candidate will be responsible
for all the accounting work of the Corporation
and for the preparation of annual accounts at
the end of each financial year. He will also be
responsible for the supervision of office staff and
will be directly responsible to the Secretary/
Manager of the Corporation.
2. Clerk/Typist Applicants for the posi-
tion of Clerk/Typist should possess a minimum
of three G.C.E. "O" Level passes including
English Language. In addition the successful
applicant should have a typing proficiency of at
least 40 words per minute and an ability to take
shorthand.
The Clerk/Typist will be expected to under-
take all the typing for the Corporation and the
maintenance of a proper filing system.

3. Salaries Salaries for the two positions
will depend on the qualifications and experience
of the successful applicants.

GOVERNMENT OF ST. LUCIA
PREQUALIFICATION OF CONTRACTORS
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF
THE ENTREPOT TRUNK SEWER LINE
ASSOCIATED WORKS CASTRIES
ST. LUCIA


The Government of St. Lucia proposes to in-
vite tenders from prequalified contractors for
the construction of a sewer tank main from the
housing development of Entrepot, Patterson
lands, and the Ravine Chabot collector systems
to pumping station No. 1 in Castries.

The project will include:-
(1) The laying of approximately 3,000 lin. ft.
of 12" diameter pipe
(2) The laying of approximately 2,600 lin. ft.
of 6" diameter pipe
(3) All necessary in manholes and the re-
instatement of the roads along which the
pipe line passes.

Interested firms that have satisfactorily per-
formed comparable works should submit pre-
qualification data to:

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS FOR CORNER
OF GRANBY AND JAMES STREET

Regulations made by the Commissioner of
Police and Licensing Authority by the Auth-
ority of Section 79 (1) of the Motor Vehicle
and Road Traffic Ordinance 1940 No. 20.
With effect from the 16th February, 1976
Traffic will be permitted to proceed from Gran-
by Street West to Granby Street East across
James Street. This new Traffic Arrangement
will be for a trial period of three months in the
first instance.
All vehicles travelling from Granby Street
West whether intending to turn Left into James
Street, towards Frenches Gate and Murray's
Road, or go across to Granby Street East will
come to a stop at the Stop Line marked on the
road, and will move off only when it is safe to
do so.

(AMENDMENT)


(Gazetted 17th February, 1976).


1. Short title. These Regulations may be cited as the Import and Export
(Control) (Amendment) Regulations, 1976, and shall be read as one with the
Import and Export (Control) Regulations, 1975, (S.R. & O. No. 5 of 1975)
(hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations) and all amendments
thereto.

2. Statutory Rules and Orders No. 7 of 1976 amended. Statutory Rules
and Orders, No. 7 of 1976 is hereby amended by the deletion from paragraph 2
of the expression "Ex 17.02-Artificial honey" and the substitution therefore
of the expression--

"Ex 17.01-Beet sugar and cane sugar, solid".


Made by the Governor under Section 3(1) of the Supplies (Control)
Ordinance, 1954, this 13th day of February 1976.
