DEPARTMENTAL AND OTHER NOTICES


VACANCIES FOR CODE ARBITRATORS
IN THE ANTIGUA PUBLIC SERVICE.

Applications are invited from suitably quali-
fied persons for posts of Code Arbitrator in the
Antigua Public Service.

Qualifications:
The minimum qualifications are-
(1) Training and/or professional qualifi-
cation in, Industrial Relations, Law,
Economics, Management Studies, Sociol-
ogy, Psychology or any other Branch of
the Social Sciences.
(2) Any experience in an executive or
managerial position in the Public or
Private Sector.
(3) Any experience as an Arbitrator or
Member of Arbitration Tribunals.

Duties:
To hear and determine any major Trade
Disptue.
Emoluments of Code Arbitrator:
The emoluments for the position of Code
Aribtrator shall be paid according to the quali-
fication and experience of the Code Arbitrator,
but shall not be less than $5.00 per hour, and a
travelling allowance of $1.00 E.C. per mile shall
be paid.
Where a Code Aribtrator has been recruited
from outside the State, a subsistence allowance
of not less than $15.00 per night will be paid.
Applicants and nominees are asked to for-
ward a resume of personal information relevant
to the position to the Labour Commissioner,
Redcliffe Street, St. John's, Antigua, not later
than the 7th November, 1975.


PRE-QUALIFICATION OF TENDERERS
FOR FURTHER CONTRACTS

BOXING PLANT CONSTRUCTION AND
UPGRADING PROJECT

The Banana Board invites Contractors in-
terested in tendering for the construction and
upgrading of banana boxing plants to register
their names with the Board for prequalification.
The Works consist of the construction of
eleven (11) new boxing plants and the upgrad-
ing of seventeen (17) existing boxing plants,
together with the construction of water supply
facilities, installation of mechanical and electri-
cal equipment required at each plant site. The
area of each boxing plant will be approximately
7,500 sq. ft. and will consist of structural steel
framework with aluminium cladding for roofing
and siding.
The work is located in the banana growing
areas of St. James, Clarendon, Manchester, St.
Catherine, St. Mary, Portland and St. Thomas.
Each contract will be for four to six boxing
plants.
Bills of Quantities for unit price tendering
will be included in the Contracts. Construction
is expected to start in early 1976. A bid bond
of 2/2%, and a performance bond or Bank
Guarantee of 25% of the Contract tender will be
required.
Minimum qualifications to pre-qualify a Con-
tractor for tendering include:-
(a) Completion of Works of a similar nature
and magnitude.
(b) Active participation in business for the
past five years.
(c) Ownership, and/or availability to him,
by hireage, of equipment and plant neces-
sary for proper execution of the Works.
(d) Evidence of financial stability, viz., a
statement from a Bonding Company or
Bank that a performance bond or guar-
antee will be issued for 25% of the Con-
tract Price, should the Contractor be
awarded the Contract
The abovementioned contract will be partly
financed by the Caribbean Development Bank
and as such only Contractors in the member
countries of the Caribbean Development Bank
will be eligible to apply.

PREQUALIFICATION OF CONTRACTORS
FOER CONSTRUCTION OF FACTORY
BUILDING AT PONDS PASTURE
INDUSTRIAL ESTATE ST. KITTS



The Development and Finance Corporation,
St. Kitts, invite interested contractors to sub-
mit prequalifictaion data for construction of
Industrial Factory Building at Ponds Pasture;
St. Kitts.

The project will include:-
1. The construction of concrete foundations,
concrete block walls, concrete floor, and sani-
tary facilities;
2. The erection of prefabricated steel frame
building 100' X 200' supplied by the Develop-
ment and Finance Corporation, together with
roofing and rain water goods;
3. Provision of utilities;
4. External works including access road,
drainage, landscaping etc.

The project is estimated to cost about EC
$500,000. (five hundred thousand dollars) and
will be financed by the Development and
Finance Corporation from a Caribbean Develop-
ment Bank loan utilising USAID funds.

Consideration will be limited to firms or
joint ventures of firms whose regular place of
business is in:-
(a) Regional member countries of the Carib-
bean Bank. CDB. i.e. Antigua, Bahamas,
Barbados, Belize, British Virgin Islands,
Cayman Islands, Colombia, Dominica,
Grenada, Guyana. Jamaica, Montserrat,
St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla, St. Lucia, St.
Vincent, Turks and Caicos Islands,
Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.


(b) Non-regional member countries of CDB,
i.e. Canada, the United Kingdom and
U.S.A.
(c) Any country listed in USAID Code 941.
Interested firms that have undertaken com-
parable work should submit full information to
the Manager, Development and Finance Cor-
poration, P.O. Box 249, Basseterre, St. Kitts,
West Indies, with a copy to the Caribbean
Development Bank, P.O. Box 408, Wildey, St.
Michael, Barbados, W.I., no later than 1st
December, 1975.
Priced tenders for construction will be re-
ceived only from bidders who have been pre-
qualified.

TENDERS FOR SUPPLY OF STEEL
STRUCTURES

Tenders are invited from suitably qualified
manufacturers for the supply of three indus-
trial building structures to the Development
Finance and Mvarketing Corporation, Plymouth,
Montserrat.
Tender Documents and specifications are
available from the General Manager of the
Development Finance & Marketing Corporation,
Plymouth, Montserrat.
The Development Finance and Marketing
Corporation has received a loan from the Carib-
bean Development Bank in various currencies
towards the cost of procurement of the steel
structures.
Only manufacturers or suppliers whose princi-
pal place of business is in one of the member
countries of the Caribbean Development Bank,
in the U.S. or in any other eligible country
should respond. A list of ineligible countries
is available from the Development Finance and
Marketing Corporation or the Caribbean
Development Bank.
Tenders should be forwarded in sealed
envelopes marked "Tenders for Industrial
Estate Buildings" and addressed to the General
Manager, Development Finance and Marketing
Corporation, Plymount, Montserrat and must
arrive on or before November 28, 1975.
The Development Finance and Marketing
Corporation reserves the right not to award the
contract to the lowest or any tender.
