VACANT POST OF ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR,
ELECTRICAL DIVISION,
MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS, WORKS
AND LABOUR.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the post of Electrical
Inspector in the Ministry of Communications,
Works and Labour.

Qualifications:
Higher National Diploma or Higher
National Certificate or equivalent with
five (5) years experience in inspectorate
work.

Salary:
The salary of the post is $9720 per annum.
Transport allowance is attached.

Duties:
Responsibility for the inspection of all
Public Eletrical Installations throughout
St. Vincent and the Grenadines and for
the issuing of certificates for such installa-
tion. Also for the maintenance of all
Government installations. Will be in
charge of the Public Works Department
Electrical Division.

Appointment:
Appointment may be either on a perma-
nent and pensionable basis or on contract.
Applications, with evidence of qualifica-
tions, two (2) recent testimonials and a
recent photograph should be forwarded
to the Chief Personnel Officer, Service
Commissions Department, Kingstown, St.
Vincent to reach him not later than 31st
March, 1975.

POST OF DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS,
LEGAL DEPARTMENT, S4. VINCENT

Applications are invited from suitably quali-
fied persons for the Post of Director of Public
Prosecutions, Legal Department, St. Vincent.


Appointment may be on a contractual or per-
manent pensionable basis. If on contract a
gratuity of 25% of earned salary is payable on
successful completion.

Salary is"$12,600 per annum (fixed). Trans-
port allowance of $840 per annum is also pay-
able. Private practice is not allowed.

Applicants must be qualified to practise in a
sourt having unlimited jurisdiction in civil and
criminal l matters in some part of the Colhmon-
wealth and must have been qualified for not less
than five years to practise as an advocate or
solicitor in such a court.

The Director of Public Prosecutions shall
have power in any case in which he considers it
desirable so to do-
(a) to institute and undertake criminal pro-
ceedings against any person before any
court of law (other than a court-martial)
in respect of any offence alleged to have
been committed by that person;
(b) to take ovet and continue any such crim-
inal proceedings that have been instituted
or undertaken by any other person or
authority; and
(c) to discontinue at any stage before judge-
ment is delivered any such criminal
proceedings instituted or undertaken by
himself or any other person or authority.

Judicial and Legal Services Commission, P.O.
Box 829, Kingstown, St. Vincent for application
forms, and should return these to the Secretary
with proof of qualifications and two recent testi-
monials not later than 8th March 1975.

COMMONWEALTH CARIBBEAN PESTICIDE
CONTROL UNIT


STAFF VACANCY


Applications are invited for 'the post of -
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
in the Commonwealth Caribbean Pesticide Con-
trol Unit, which is financed by Member Gov-
ernments of the Caribbean Community and
accommodated in the Chemistry Department,
U.W.I., St. Augustine, Trinidad.

The successful candidate will direct the work
of the Unit which includes a laboratory staffed
by two chemists analysing pesticide residues and
formulations. He will advise Commonwealth
Caribbean Governments individually and collec-
tively on the control of pesticide hazards by
legislative means and otherwise. The job in-
volves a considerable amount of travel within
the- Region. Applicants should possess a degree
or the equivalent in chemistry; agriculture or
other biological subject, and at least five years
relevant experience. Proven ability to work
with committees would be advantageous.
The successful candidate would be expected
to assume duties on June 1, 1975 or as soon
thereafter as possible. Appointment will be for
15 months in the first instance and may be sub-
ject to renewal. Salary is negotiable in addition
to which the following allowances are payable:
10 percent housing allowance and a terminal
gratuity of 10 percent of total salary in lieu of
superannuation benefits.

PRESS RELEASE


The general public is hereby notified that the
maximum retail prices for local fresh beef-
unrefrigerated and unprocessed remain as fol-
lows:-

Hind quarters (excluding hocks
and flanks) and shoulder blades $1.50 per lb.
Front quarters (including bris-
ket, liver, heart and flank ...... $1.33 per lb.

Tail, tongue, Kidneys $1.04 per Ib.
Lungs, head, tripe, heel, soup-
bones .58 per lb.

The attention of all, and in particular the
butchers, is drawn to Section 7, subsection (1)
of 'the Price and Distribution of Goods Act No.
47 of 1970 which reads as follows:-

"The Price Control Officer may, by notice
published in the Gazette and in a newspaper
circulating in Saint Vincent, with regard to
any goods the maximum price of which has
been fixed, require that any trader offering
such goods for sale by retail shall cause the
same 'to be marked with the selling price there-
of in a conspicuous and legible manner."

The Price Control Inspectors will be visiting
all meat stalls on March, 8th, 1975 in an effort to
see that this subsection is complied with.
