TREASURY BILLS
ISSUE NO. 11


Tenders are invited for the issue of St. Vincent Government Treasury Bills which will be-
made to an amount of seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000).
These bills will be in denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, $10,000, $50,000, and will be-
payable at par ninety-one days after the date of issue. They will be issued on Tuesday 25th
February, 1975 and will be payable on Tuesdqy 27th 'May, 1975.
Each tender must be for an amount of not less than $1,000 and must specify the amount.
which will be given for every hundred dollars of the amount tendered.
Application forms are available at the Treasury and the Commercial Banks, and when-
completed should be forwarded to the Finiancial Secretary, iMfinistry of Finance in sealed-
envelopes addressed:-

POST OF DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS,
LEGAL DEPARTMENT, ST. VINCENT

Applications are invited from suitably quali-
fied persons for the Post of Director of Public
Prosecutions, Legal Depa'rtment, St. Vihcei-t.
Appointment may be on a contractual or per-
manent pensionable basis. If on contract a
gratuity of 25% of earned salary is payable on
successful completion.

Salary is $12,600 per annum (fixed). Trans-
port allowance-of $840 per annum is also pay-
able. Private practice is not allowed.

Applicants must be qualified to practise in a
court having unlimited jurisdiction in civil and
criminal matters in some part of the Common-
wealth and must have been qualified for not less
than five years to practise as an advocate or
solicitor in such a court.

The Director of Public Prosecutions shall
have power in any case in which he-considers it
desirable so to do-
(a) to institute and undertake criminal pro-
ceedings against any person before any
court of law (other than a court-martial)
in respect of any offence alleged to have
been committed by that person;
(b) to take over and continue any such crim-
inal proceedings that have been instituted
or undertaken by any other person or
authority; and
(c) to discontinue at any stage before judge-
ment is delivered any such criminal
proceedings instituted or undertaken by
himself or any other person or authority.,

Applicants should write to the Secretary,
Judicial and Legal Services Commission, P.O.
Box 829, Kingstown, St. Vincent for application
forms, and should return these to the Secretary
*with proof of qualifications and two recent testi-
monials not later than,8th March 1975.

St. Vincent.

NOTICE


The Financial Statements for the St. Vincent
Co-Operative Bank Limited for the year ended
January 31, 1974 is published with this issue
of the Gazette.


LAND AND HOUSE TAX ORDINANCE
CAP. 194


Taxpayers owing property which has not yet
been assessed for Land and' House Tax are re-
minded of their legal obligation to send a return
thereof to the Inland Revenue. The Ordinance
provides as follows--

Section 12. (2) Returns.

"Any person who shall erect, add to, or other-
wise substantially increase the value of, any
house, shall within 30 days thereafter, make a,
return in writing thereof 'to the tax officer. Such
return shall contain a true and correct statement'
of the description, situation and value of the
same and. also the annual rental value."

Section 18 provides for a penalty for those
not sending in returns, the relevant words
being-

Section 18. (Penalty for wilful acts of evasion)
. . "If any person required to make any
return under this Ordinance shall, without law-
ful excuse, refuse or neglect to make the return,


in order to evade giving an account of any house
or land possessed by him, or whereof an account
is required of him under this Ordinance, or if
any person wilfully makes an incorrect return,
lie shall be liable to a fine not exceeding two
hundred and forty dollars."

Note There is no special form prescribed by the
Ordinance for making the required return which
may be made in the form of a letter to The Tax
Officer,
