COMMISSIONER, ST. VINCENT.

Applications are invited for the
vacant post of Labour Commissioner,
Ministry of Home Affairs, Labour and
'Tourism, St. Vincent.
The post is pensionable and carries a
fixed salary of $10,200 per annum. A
transport allowance is payab e in
accordance with local regulations.
Quarters are not provided.
The officer selected will be head of the
Labour Department. He/she will be
required to advise the Ministry for
Labour on all labour matters in the
State and to ensure the proper admin-
istration -of all laws' relating to labour
Smatters; also to submit recommend-
ations regarding the conditions of
employment of laborers, to deal with
all disputes between labourers and
employees and to perform any othel
duties not inconsistent with those of a
Labour Commissioner, that may be
allocated to himn from time to time.

to two (2) posts of Engineer in the
Public Works Department of the Min-
istry of Communications & Works, St.
Vincent.
Duties:
1. Engineer for Roads-(1 Post)
A. To be responsible to the Chief
S Engineer or his Deputy for
the Construction and main-
tenance of highways and
feeder roads in St. Vincent
together with associated
drainage and other struc-
tures in accordance with
annual budgets.
B. To form, operate and control
Road Maintenance Units for
the maintenance of public
roads.
C. To prepare and maintain an
inventory of public roads and
to prepare, cost and control
minor projects for road im-
provements and for feeder
roads.
D. To organise on-the-job train-
ing of roads. for supervisory
staff and plant operators.
E. To form and operate a con-
struction Materials Labora-
tory (in association with
Crown Agents Road Recon-
struction Team currently
operating in St. Vincent).
F. To control quarrying opera-
tions in, support of govern-
ment works and to arrange
necessary geological and
other surveys for further
quarrying.
Buildings Engineer-(1 Post)
S A. To be responsible to the Chief
Engineer or his Deputy for
the construction and main-


tenance of Public Buildings
in St. Vincent both by con-
tract and by direct labour-
in accordance with annual
budgets.
B. To prepare project apprais-
als for buildings and major-
structures, employing con-
sultants as necessary for
submission, to government
and to outside aid agencies.
C. To act as Buildings Adviser,
as required, on planning
approvals for private and
commercial development pro-
jects and to advise the
Development' Corporation of
St. Vincent on buildings.

D. To control, in consultation
with outside architects as
required, the functioning of
the architectural design office
and its staff.
Qualifications: Candidates should be
in the age group of 24-32, should hold
a recognized degree in Civil or Struc-
tural Engineering and should have a.
minimum of three years appropriate
post-graduate experience. Preference
will be accorded to candidates who are
citizens of the Commonwealth. Carib-
bean and whose qualifications .can be
expected to,lead to Chartered Engineer
status.
Salary: The posts are pensionable
and in the scale V 16-6 ($6,300 X $300-
-$6,600 X $360-$8,400/$8,760 X $480
-$10,200).

Chief Engineer in the Public Works
Department of the Ministry of Com-
munications & Works, St. Vincent.
Salary: The salary of the post is
fixed at $11,400 per annum in the scale
V 4. The post is a new one and will be-
made pensionable in due course.

Duties: The Deputy Chief Engineer
will be required to act executively for
\ the Chief Engineer on the.design, con-
struction and maintenance on roads.

ancially and technically-all new works
in the above fields either by contract or
by direct labour. He will be responsible
for the efficient functioning of the Roads
and Buildings Divisions (both of which
will be headed by an Engineer) the
Survey Branch and the Drawing Office.
Qualifications: The' candidate must
be a suitably qualified Civil Engineer
with at least 8 years post-graduate
oualification experience of which at least
4 years must have been spent in a senior
engineering post in a Government Ser-
vice. He would be expected to be in the
age groun of 35-45 years- and prefer-
ence will be a*orded to one who is a
citizen of the Commonwealth Caribbean
and who, is not alrea vy a Chartered
Engineer, can be expected to obtain
Cliartored Status following two years in
the substantive post.
Terms of Rervice: The successful can-
didate will be expected to serve for a
probationary period of one year. -if his
appointment is on a permanent and
pensionable basis. He may also' be.
appointed on a three-year contract. The
salary of the post is subject to review
periodically together with other public
service salaries and is not negotiable.

salaries and allowances of Public Offi-

CONSUMPTION TAX (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

(Gazetted 18th June, 1974.)


1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Consumption Tax (Amend-
ment) Order, 1974.

2. First Schedule to Consumption Tax Ordinance No. 25 of 1968 amended.
The First Schedule to the Consumption Tax Ordinance, 1968, (No. 25 of 1968)
is amended by deleting all the particulars relating to Diesel Oil and substituting
therefore the following:- "
