2. The Scholarships are open to
pupils attending ( overnmellit, or (iov-
erniimeit Assisted or Registered Private
Schools which satisfy the requirements
of the Board of Education, and entitle
the holder to free tuition, games and
Library fees, and the necessary school
books and stationery. All Schoiars'iip
holders, who normally reside, not I.ss
than two miles from the limits of Kinigs-
town measured by the shortest public
highway shall be entitled to receive a
maintenance grant at the rate of )ne
hundred and ninety-two dollars per
annmn: P'rovided that should a Scholar-
ship holder cease so to reside, for any
period during the tenure of the scholar-
ship, no maintenance grant shall be
paid in respect of such period. unless
sich scholarship holder is living away
from home for the purpose of taking
advainlalige of the scholarship.
3. A candidate for the award of
(a) be not less than 10 years 6
months nor more than 12 years

be proved by a birth or baptis-

(b) have attended a Government
or Government Assisted or a
Registered P private School
which satisfies the require-
ments of the Board of Educa-
tion, during the twelve (12)
months preceding the 31st
M'ay, 1974 for not less than 75%
of the maximum attendances
possible during such period, as
shown in the Attendaince Regis-
ter in the school;
(c) furnish certificate of good
conduct from the Ilead Teacher
or Head Teachers of such
school or schools;
(d) be natives of the Stale, or
children of natives, or have
been resident in the State for
at least .two years.
4. The Chief Education officer is
empowered to accept for examination
any candidate who through illness has
failed to comply with 1the requiremenllts
of paragraph 3; (I) above. with respect
to tile number of atlendances.
5. No scholOlrship shall be awarded
to any candidate who obtains less Ilhan
one-third of thlie possible marks in each
subject, and less than one-half of the
total possible marks in the examination.
6. Scholarships nre awarded for' a
period of not more than six ((i) years,
provided the scholars' attendance, con-
duct aid progress as shown by tihe
term's report are considered salis-
