POST OF CHAUFFEUR/TECHNICIAN
INFORMATION DIVISION
MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND
INFORMATION.

Applications are invited from suit-
.ably qualified persons for the post of
C h a u ff e u r/Technician, Government
Information Division, Ministry of
Finance and Information.


The post is pensionable and in the
salary scale $3,060X$ $180 $3,600.
The selectee will be required to ser-
vice and maintain all radio and other
electronics equipment in the Studio of
the Information Division, as well as
maintain the equipment of the Mobile
Film Unit. He will accompany the
film officer of the Information Service
on all Mobile Unit outings in the field,
and on these occasions, and during the
production of radio programmes, he
will provide technical operational
services.
You will be required to perform such
other duties relating to the technical
affairs of the Government Information
Service which may be assigned to him
by the Information Officer.
Preference will be given to appli-
cants with (a) training in electronics
servicing and/or (b) practical ex-
perience in the electronics field.

VACANT POST-ASSISTANT FISHERIES
OFFICER

MINISTRY OF TRADE, AGRICULTURE AND
GRENADINES AFFAIRS

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the post of
Assistant Fisheries Officer, Department
of Agriculture, Ministry of Trade, Agri-
culture and Grenadines Affairs.
The post is non-pensionable and in
the salary scale V40-20-$1,680 X
$60-$1,800 X $120-$2,520 X $180-
$3,600/$3,840 X $240-$4,800 X $300-
$5,100. Transport allowance at the ap-
proved rate is also payable.
The Officer will be required to observe
the methods and problems of fishermen
and to advise them on improvement of
fishermen gear, methods of fishing, pre-
servation of fish, selection and purchase
of equipment etc.
He will be required to explore means
of improving the marketing of fish, to
collect statistics, to encourage the for-
mation of fisheries associations and co-
operatives and to ensure the enforcement
of legislation pertaining to the protec-
tion of the Fishing Industry.

'CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY SECRETARIAT

VACANCY FOR INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS
ADVISER

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the post of
Industrial Relations Adviser in the
Caribbean Community Secretariat.
2. Duties: The Industrial Relations
Adviser will be responsible to the Sec-
Tetary-General for the efficient perform-
.ance of his functions.
The duties of the post include:
(i) servicing the meetings of the
Standing Committee of Minis-
ters responsible for Labour, an
Institution of the Caribbean
Community established under
Article 10 of the Caribbean
Community Treaty;
(ii) follow-up action in connection
with the decisions of the Stand-
ing Committee of Ministers res-
ponsible for Labour;
,(iii) advising the Standing Commit-
tee of Ministers responsible for
labour on matters relating to
the development of industrial
relations, labour legislation, man-
power policies and other related
matters;
,(iv) assisting in the coordination of
Member States' policies towards
the ILO and other international
bodies concerned with Labour;
and
t(v) establishing and maintaining close
contact with the regional trade
union and employers organisa-
tions in furtherance of the objec-
tives covered in the foregoing
responsibilities.


3. Qualifications: Applicants should
normally possess a University Degree or
acceptable equivalent qualification and
considerable experience in industrial
relations in a position of high responsi-
bility, but consideration will also be
given to non-graduates with extensive
experience and special training.
4. Salary and A lowances: The salary
of the post is EC$17,400 per annum. In
addition the holder will be paid house
allowance of EC$3,000 per annum.
5. Recruitment and Appointment:
Appointment may be on a permanent
basis with the Caribbean Community
Secretariat or on secondment from the
Government Service of a Member State.
It will be subject to such other regula-
tions, rules, orders and instructions as
may exist and as may be introduced
from time to time in respect of service
with the Secretariat.
A candidate recruited from abroad
on first appointment will be provided
e,,onony class air passages by the most
direct route for himself, his wife, and
his children up to a maximum of 3 pro-
vided they are below the age of 18,
unmarried and dependent on him and
for such other dependents to a maxi-
mum of two as may be approved by the
Secretary-General.
In addition to passages the officer will
be granted the following transportation
allowances-
(a) ocean freight charges of shipping
his personal and household effects
not exceeding twenty (20) tons
ship's measurement (800 cubic
feet), plus a motor car (if the
officer already owns one).
(b) the cost of transporting his
baggage, personal and household
effects from his home to the place
of embarkation and from the port
of disembarkation to the place of
residence in Guyana;
(c) the cost of crating personal and
household effects;
A settlement Grant will be paid to
the successful candidate recruited from
abroad when he actually takes up his
duties in Guyana at the following
rates-

6. Leave Facilities: The successful
candidate will be eligible for the grant
of vacation leave at the rate of thirty-
five working days per annum and a leave
passage allowance in respect of himself
and his family.
7. Prnvilges and Immunities: The
successful candidate will be granted the
privileges and immunities normally ex-
tended to members of the diplomatic
corps. It has also been agreed that staff
members of the Secretariat will not pay
income tax to the Government of Guyana
or in the case of staff recruited from
Member States to. their home Govern-
ments.
8. Superannuation Benefits: Mem-
bership of the Secretariat's pension
scheme is compulsory for all eligible
employees.
The successful candidate will be re-
quired to contribute 5% of his salary to
the scheme. In the case of a staff mem-
ber recruited on secondment the Sec-
retariat will pay to the staff member's
employer a contribution at a rate of up
to 25% of the pensionable salary nor-
mally payable to the staff member by
that employer during the period of his
secondment so as to maintain his super-
annuation benefits.

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS
OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT
OF INDIA 1974/75


Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the award of
Scholarships to India under the Com-
monwealth Scholarship and Fellowship
Plan 1974/75. Scholarships are ten-
able for a period of one to three years.

2. The plan provides for transporta-
tion to and from India, approved tuition
and other compulsory University fees,
maintenance and book allowances.

3. A pp 1 i c an t s for post-graduate
courses should preferably be between the
ages of 20-25 years and should have
passed the Bachelor's degree in at least
Second Division.

4. Awards may be made for under-
graduate studies, in fields not available
at the University of the West Indies.
Applicants should preferably be between
the ages of 17 and 22 years and should
possess G.C.E. 'A' Levels in at least 2
subjects.
