MER DATA PROCESSING DEPARTMENT
MINISTRY OF FINANCE

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons male or female
within and outside the St. Vincent
Civil Service for appointment to the.
above post.
2. The duties of the post include:
a) Preparation, documentation
and implementation of Sys-
tems and procedures which
will be used throughout Gov-
ernment and which utilize
directly or indirectly com-
puter time. The officer may
also be required to oper-
ate the computer equipment
when considered necessary.
b) Prepare, test and document
computer programmes from
written specifications and
amend and rewrite pro-
grammes to meet new speci-
fications.

3. Qualifications: The applicant
should be conversant with Gov-
ernment accounting system, and
with the organisation of the
Government service.

4. The qualities sought for in the
s y st e m s analyst/Programmer
are:
a) Maturity, imagination, crea-
tiveness and receptiveness to
new ideas.
b) The ability to communicate
with other people in the pre-
sentation of new systems.
c) Methodical working and pre-
cision.
d) The ability to work with a
disciplined adherence to pre-
scribed standards.
e) The ability to work in a
team.
It would be an advantage if
applicants have a knowledge
of the work of Government
and General Data Processing
duties.

5. Educational Standards: The ap-
plicant should be in possession of at
least three (3) '0' Level subjects in-
cluding Mathematics and English, or
the equivalent.

6. Training: Applicants on a short
list will be given a logic aptitude test,
and only those who attain the required
standard will be considered further.
The successful applicant will be ap-
pointed System Analyst/Programmer,
on probation and will receive practical
training in St. Vincent for approxi-
mately six to seven months.

On the satisfactory completion of
this period of practical training the
officer will be sent to the I.C.L. train-
ing school in Trinidad for a further
residential course.

7. Salary Scale: V 26-21-$3,600
x $240-$4.800, on satisfactory com-
pletion of the probationary period the
successful candidate will be promoted
to scale V 20-15 $5,100 x $300 -
$6,600.

8. Equipment and Scope of Data
Processing Department: the Denart-
ment is equipped with an ICL 1901 A.


Computer Configuration, 16K. Core
Storage, Double Twin Discs.

9. The following are the routines
which are on the computer at pres-
ent:-

a) Financial Accounting
b) Monthly Payroll of Civil Ser-
vants
c) Trade Statistics
d) P.W.D. Unallocated Stores
e) Income Tax Assessments.

10. Applications accompanied by two
recent testimonials should be forward-
ed to the Chief Personnel Officer, Ser-
vice Commissions Department, marked
"EDP/STAFF" and should be received
not later than 29th April, 1972.

portion of land at Cumberland in the parish of St. Patrick for a public
purpose.

NOTICE OF ACQUISITION.

(FIRST PUBLICATION.)

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor considers that any land should be
acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Governor that the undermentioned
parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the establishment
of a Government Housing Scheme:
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 14th and
21st March, 1972 it was declared that the said parcel of land at Cumberland
in the Parish of St. Patrick measuring 2 acres and 32 poles as shown on plan
P126 and bounded as shown on the said plan was required for a public purpose
and should vest absolutely in the Crown upon the Second Publication of the
said Declaration to that effect in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number P126 and prepared by Cuthbert Bazil, Licensed Land
Surveyor was lodged for inspection at all reasonable hours at the Lands and
Surveys Department of Kingstown in the State of St. Vincent on the 25th
day of September, 1971.
Now THIS Is To REQUIRE all persons interested to render to the Authorised
Officer at the said Lands and Surveys Department within thirty days of the
issue of this notice a statement in writing signed by them or their Attorneys
or Agents setting forth the amounts and full particulars of their claim for
compensation in respect of their interest in the land here-in-before described
distinguishing the amounts under separate heads and showing how the amount
claimed under each head is calculated.

1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Governor considers that any land should be
acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to that effect to be
made:
AND WHEREAS it was considered by the Governor that the undermentioned
parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit, the erection of
a new Government Hospital:
AND WHEREAS by declaration published in the Gazette on the 21st and
28th March 1972 it was declared that the said parcel of land at Ratho Mill
in the parish of St. George measuring 3 roods 16 poles and numbered Lot 58 on
plan G 49 was required for a public purpose and should vest absolutely in
the Crown upon the Second Publication of the said Declaration to that effect
in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS it was further declared and notified that a plan of the said
land bearing the number G 49 and prepared by Charles F. Richardson Licensed
Land Surveyor was lodged for inspection at all reasonable hours at the Lands
and Surveys Department of Kingstown in the State of St. Vincent in March,
1930.
Now THIS Is To REQUIRE all persons interested to render to the Authorised
Officer at the said Lands and Surveys Department within thirty days of the-
