OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT
OF INDIA 1972/73.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the award of
Scholarships to India under the Com-
monwealth Scholarship and Fellowship
Plan 1972/73. Scholarships are tenable
for a period of one to three years.

2. The plan provides for transporta-
tion to and from India, approved tuition
and other compulsory University fees,
maintenance and book allowances.
3. Applicants should not be more
than 35 years old; preference will be
given to candidates between 22 and 28
years old. Candidates should ba Univer-
sity or College Graduates or holders of
equivalent qualification.
4. Awards may be for undergraduate
studies; in fields not available at the
University of the West Indies. Appli-
cants for Undergraduate awards should
possess G.C.E. 'A' Level in at least 2
subjects.
5. Applications, on Forms TI, together
with copies of Certificates, should be
submitted to the Chief Personnel Officer
fnr attertim of Training Officer by 13th
March, 1972.

POST OF MAINTENANCE OFFICER,
ELECTRICAL DIVISION, PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT, MINISTRY OF
COMMUNICATIONS, WORKS AND LABOUR.

Applications are invited for the post
of Maintenance Officer in the Electrical
Division, Pablic Works Department,
Ministry of Communications, Works
and Labour.
Details of Post.
The post requires that the Ma-nten-
ance Officer undertake the Ma'nten-
ance of all Government Electrical
installations. The Officer will also be
responsible for the wiring of all Gov-
ernment Buildings and Projects.
Salary:
V 28-20 $3,240 x $180-$3,600 x
$240-$4,800 x $30--$5,100.
Allowance:
A transport vai ....i shall be pay-
able in accordance with local regula-
tions.
Qualification:
Five (5) years experience in Electri-
cal Installation and Maintenance work,
coupled with a good working knowledge
of Institute of Electrical Engineering
Regulations in use at the present time.

recent testimonials should be forward-

POST OF ASSISTANT GOVERNMENT
PRINTER

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons to fill the post of As-
sistant Government Printer in the Gov-
ernment Printing Office which is soon to
become vacant.

Duties of the Post
The duties of the Assistant Govern-
ment Printer are of an Executive nature.
The successful applicant will be re-
quired to assist the Government Printer
in the day to day running of the office
and in the distribution of the work to
the various sections of the Department,
and will also be responsible for the
proper functioning of the office during
the absence of the Government Printer.

Salary is in the scale: V 19-17-
$5,400 x $300-$6,000.

Applicants must have experience in
the Printing Trade and should possess
G.C.E. '0' Level (or its equivalent) in
at least four (4) subjects, including,
English Language and Mathematics or
Science. The successful applicant may
be required to undergo a period of train-
ing abroad.

Co.nsid-lation will also be given to
those applicants who might have execu--
tive ability but no printing experience,
in which ease, the successful applicant
will be required to undergo a period of
in-service training in the Government
Printing Office before being sent abroad
for further training.

experience together with two recent tes-
timonials should be addressed to the
Chief Personnel Officer. Service Com-
missions Department, Kingstown, and"
should reach him not later than 7th
March, 1972.

Session for the purpose of hearing
Appeals against Assessments by the
Kingstown Board for the year 1972.

INCOME TAX NOTICE

TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC

Every person, not being an employ-
ed person, is hereby reminded that the
latest date for the submission of Income
Tax Returns for assessment in the year
1972 is the' 31st March, 1972, and that
failure to give notice of chargeability
is an offence against the Income Tax
Ordinance rendering the person con-


cerned liable on summary conviction to
a penalty not exceeding ONE THOU-
SAND DOLLARS and in default of
payment to imprisonment with or
without hard labour for a term not
exceeding four months, and after
judgement has been given for that
penalty to a further penalty of fifty
dollars for every day during which
the refusal, failure or neglect to ren-
der any document continues.
2. EVERY PERSON whose income
accruing in, derived from the State or
elsewhere and whether received in the
State or not for the preceding year,
exceeded the statutory limit of $600.00
is required to submit a return in the
prescribed form notwithstanding that
on account of approved deductions no
tax may eventually be chargeable, and
paiticu'ar attention is directed to the
fact that the term "income" is deemed
to, include not only money but also,
allowances in kind.
3. Efforts are being made to send
forms to such persons. It is to be
clearly understood, however, that the-
Income Tax Denartment is under no.
obligation to send a return form to.
anyone and that a person is not exon-
erated from the statutory liability of
making a return even though a form
may not have been received from the
Department. Forms may be obtained,
on anplication, at the Revenue Offices.
at Georgetown, Barrouallie, Bequia
and Union Island, or in any -other
district from the Police Station situ-
ate therein or from the Income Tax
Department, Kingstown, where any
person requiring information in con-
nection therewith is invited to enquire.
4. The form correctly completed
should be accompanied by all neces-
sary statements. Specimens of the
form of account required from small'
traders and from occupiers or cultivi-
tors of land will be supplied on request.
