VACANT POST

VACANT POSTS OF DISPENSER, MEDICAL
DEPARTMENT

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons to fill the vacant
posts of Dispenser, Medical Department,
Ministry for Education and Health.
2. The post of Dispenser is pension-
able and salary is in the Scale V 28-20
-$3,240 x $180-$3,600 x $240-$4,800
x $300, $5,100. The point of entry into
the scale will depend on the candidates'
qualification and experience.
3. Applicants must be in possession
of a Certificate of Pharmacy from a re-
putable Institution.
4. Applications stating age, qualifi-
cation and experience and accompanied
by two recent testimonials should be ad-
dressed to -

and should reach him not later than 9th
January, 1971.

ADVERTISEMENT FOR PROPOSED POST OF
CHIEF, HEALTH SECTION COMMON-
WEALTH CARIBBEAN REGIONAL
SECRETARIAT

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for the post of
Chief, Health Section of the Common-
wealth Caribbean Regional Secretariat,
Georgetown, Guyana.
The duties of the post are:
(i) to implement the decisions
of the Caribbean Health Min-
isters' Conference including
the co-ordination of any re-
gional projects decided
upon;
(ii) to collaborate with other
Regional and International
Bodies operating in the field
of Health in the Caribbean.
(iii) to examine areas for regional
co-operation and to initiate
or promote programmes and
studies designed to improve
Health Services in the Re-
gion;
(iv) Servicing of the Caribbean
Health Ministers' Conference
in collaboration with other
Secretariat staff.

Qualifications
Applicants should be persons with
broad experience in Health Adminis-
tration preferably from the Caribbean
Area. An academic qualification in
Public Health is desirable but not
essential.
As Chief of the Health Section of
the Commonwealth Caribbean Regional
Secretariat, the successful candidate
will be responsible to the Secretary-
General for the efficient performance
of the duties set out above.

Salary and Allowances
The salary of the post is $15,000 (G)
per annum with a Housing Allowance
of $3,000 per annum and a local travel-
ling allowance of $480.00 per annum.
For persons recruited outside Guyana
an initial Disturbance Grant is given
at the following rates:
$480 for an individual officer;
$400 for a wife;
$200 for each child between the
age 12 18 years
$100 for each child 5 11 years

General information and conditions
(i) It is proposed that early in
1971, a scheme of Super-
annuation benefits should be
initiated for Members of the
Staff of the Secretariat. In
the meantime it is proposed
that persons should be ap-
pointed to the Secretariat on
contract for a period of 2 -
3 years in the first instance,
or on secondnent from Gov-
ernments of Member Terri-
tories.
(ii) Appointments will be sub-
ject to physical fitness and
to any rules, regulations,
orders, or instructions which
may from time to time be
instituted in respect of ser-
vice with the Commonwealth
Caribbean Regional Secre-
tariat.
(iii) Secretariat Staff will be re-
quired to pay income- tax to
the Government of Guyana.
(iv) Passages will be paid from
the place of recruitment to
Guyana for the officer, his
wife and children up to a
limit of seven (7) passages.
(v) Baggage allowance will also
be paid up to a limit of 5
shipping tons (200 cu. ft.)


Method of Application
Applications should be sent direct
to the Secretary-General, Common-
wealth Caribbean Regional Secretariat,
Third Floor, Bank of Guyana Build-
ing, Georgetown, Guyana and should
reach him not later than 15th Janu-
ary, 1971. Applicants should state the
earliest date at which they would be
able to assume duties.
It is suggested that, where applicants
are employed in the public sector,
they should copy applications to their
Governments. Applications should be
accompanied by a curriculum vitae and
should 4 give thi, names of two VersoiP
to whom reference may be made, if
necessary.

A PROCLAMATION

RUPERT G. JOHN,
Governor.

WHEREAS by sub-section (1) of section 48 of the Constitution set out in
Schedule 2 to the Saint Vinceud Cons t ution Order, i969, it is provided that
the Governor may at any time prorogue or dissolve Parliament.

AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that Parliament be prorogued.

Now THEREFORE, I RUPERT GODFREY JOHN, in exercise of powers conferred
on me by section 48 of the said Constitution do hereby declare that Parliament
shall stand prorogued on the 31st day of December, 1970.

GIVEN under my hand and the Public Seal of Saint Vincent at Government
House in Saint Vincent this twenty-ninth day of December, One thous-
and nine hundred and seventy and in the nineteenth year of the Reign
of Her Majesty QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND.
