POST OF SENIOR ROAD OVERSEER-
PL'ULIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for the vacant pension-
able post :of Senior District Overseer o f1
Roads, Roads Division, in the Ministry
for Communications, Works and Labour,
in the salary scale (T1-3)-$1,392 x
$84-$1,560 x $96-$2,040. x $120-
$2,280/$2,400 x $120-$2,880/$3,048 x
$144-$3,6''4 x $180- $3,98!4.
Successful applicants will be required
to reside and work in any of the Road
Districts in St. Vincent or in the Grena-
dines.
Applicants who possess '0' level
G.C.E. Certificates in Mathematics and
English, or have the ability to read
drawings and field training in the use of
surveying instruments may be given
preference.
Overseers are required to carry out
the day-to-day Supervision of mainten-
ance and construction work on the roads
of all classes in the districts to which
they are assigned.
Applications together with two refer-
ences should be sent to the Establish-
ment Officer, Establishment Division,
Kingstown, to reach him not later than
12th November, 1969.

COMMONWEALTH
SCHOLARSHIPS AND
FELLOWSHIPS

UNITED .KINGDOM, CANADA, EAST AFRICA,
HONG KONG, MALAYSIA

The Government of the United King-
dom, Canada, East Africa, Hong Kong
and Malaysia have invited applications
for the award of Commonwealth Schol-
arships and Fellowships tenable at
Universities in the United Kingdom,
Canada, East Africa, Hong Kong, Ma-
laysia to suitable men and women from


the .West Indies under their respective
Cof1monwealth Scholarships and Fel-
lowships Plan 1970/71.

Applicants should not have reached
their 35th birthday by 1st October, 1970,
but in .special -circumstances this age
limit, may: be raised. Preference will
however be given to candidates between
22 'and 28 years of age.

These scholarships and fellowships
are.. aiarded'for advanced study or re-
search and are open to students who be-
fore they take up a scholarship hold a
Bachelor's or Master's Degree from a
recognized University or some equiva-
lent qualification. Under special cir-
cumstances .applications may also be
considel-ed :for undergraduates if the
programme of study they wish to fol-
low is not available in their own coun-
try.

The United Kingdom awards provide
also for further study and training in
the United Kingdom in the broad field
of Medicine.

Awards will normally be made for a
period of two academic years except
in cases where a shorter period is re-
quired to complete the programme for
which the award is granted.

Each scholarship covers expenses for
travel, living and study during its ten-
ure.

Successful candidates must give an
undertaking to return to St. Vincent at
the end of their scholarship period.

Applications must be made through
unit Governments in septuplicate, and
oni prescribed forms available from the
Training Office, Kingstown, St. Vincent,
from which further information on
these scholarships could be obtained.
Applications must be forwarded to the
Training Office not later than 31st Oc-
tober, 1969. Applications that are in-
complete or are not supported by the
required documents will not be enter-
tained.

BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE
LAND AND HOUSE TAX
ORDINANCE.

It is notified for general information
that Land and House Tax in respect of
the current year will be received at the
Tax Office (P.W.D. Compound), Kings-
town, and at the District Revenue Offices
at Georgetown, Barrouallie, Bequia and
Union Island during the period 1st No-
vember to 31st December, 1969, and at
Sandy Bay, Colonarie, Biabou, Mesopo-
tamia, Layou and Chateaubelair on the
dates listed hereunder:-
Sandy Bay:
Friday 28th November.
Colonarie:
..Every Thursday during the months
November to December, except 25th
December.
Mesopotamia:
On Friday 7th 21st, 28th November
and 5th, 12th 19th December.
Biabou:
On Tuesday 2nd, 11th 18th December.
Layou:
First and last Monday in November
and Tuesday 9th, 16th and Monday
22nd December.
Chateaubelair:
Friday 7th, 14th 21st, 28th November

KINGSTOWN BOARD

VACANT POST OF MARKET
OFFICER.

Applications are invited from suitably
qualified persons for appointment to the
post of Market Officer of the Kingstown
Market, a department of the Kingstown
Board.


2. The salary is in the scale $1,200
x 60-$1,620 x 84-$1,788. The point
of entry into the scale will be deter-
imined by the Officers' qualifications and
experience.
3. The appointment will be on pro-
bation for one year and confirmation in
the post will be subject to the approval
of the Board.
4. The duties of the post include col-
lection of Market dues etc., and the is-
sue of the Board's Official receipts, the
maintainance of order and supervision
of the general business of the Market.
A good basic elementary Education is
essential, and preference will be given to
applicants possessing knowledge of
police work and ability to assume ad-
ministrative responsibility.
5. The successful applicant will be
required to assume duties by November
3, 1969.
6. Application must be in the appli-
cant's own hand-writing and must be
accompanied by at least two testimonials
which shall be addressed to the Chair-
man of the Kingstown Board to reach
him not later than noon on October 31,
1969.

TAKE NOTICE that Mrs. Elselma
Millington (nee McNee) otherwise
called Lauren Millington intends to ap-
ply to the Judge in Chambers for an
order to have her Marriage properly re-
corded in the Marriage Register of the
Registry of The High Court of Justice
in Kingstown, St. Vincent.
The said Mrs. Elselma Millington
was married to Alfred Millington on the
7th day of May, 1958 at the Methodist
Church, Kingstown.
