IN THE MATTER OF THE LAND ACQUISITION ORDINANCE, 1946.
(No. 22 of 1946.)
PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION.
(Under Section 4 of the Ordinance)
(FIRST PUBLICATION).
(Gazetted 17th September, 1968).
WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 4 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
(No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator-in-Council considers that any land
may be required for a public purpose and it is necessary to make a preliminary
survey or other investigation of the land, he may cause a notification to that
effect to be published in the Gazette:
AND WHEREAS the Administrator-in-Council considers that a portion of
land approximately 13,000 sq. ft. in extent at Friendship in the Parish of
Bequia, Grenadines being the property said to belong to John D'Arbuckle,
Jean Glogowska, Claude Hazell is likely to be acquired for a public purpose,
to wit, the beaching of local fishermen boats.
AND WHEREAS it is necessary to make a preliminary survey of the said por-
tion of land;
Now THEREFORE, this is to require all persons interested to allow the Author-
ised Officer (and his agents, assistants and workmen) :
(a) to enter upon and survey and take levels of any land in any locality to
which the notification relates;
(b) to dig or bore into the sub-soil of such land;
(c) to do all other acts necessary to ascertain whether the land is adapted
to such purpose;
(d) to set out the boundaries of the land intended to be taken, and the
intended line of tf any, proposed to be done thereon;

(e) to mark levels and lines by placing marks and cutting trenches;
(f) where otherwise the survey cannot be completed, the levels taken or
the boundaries or line of work set out, to cut down and clear away
any standing crop. fence, tree or bush;
(g) to do all such other acts as may be incidental to, or necessary for, any
of tle purposes aforesaid:

University of the West Indies is offer-
ing a Four Month Course in the Prin-
ciples and Practice of Social Work at
the Social Welfare Training Centre,
U.VW.I.. Mona. from January 6th to
April 24th, 1969.
The Course is designed to meet the
needs of persons working in the broad
field of Social Welface with three or
more years experience but without pro-
fessional training.
The University is offering a number
of full scholarships for the course,
covering return passage to Jamaica,
subsistence allowance and an amount to
cover cost of books and field work ex-
penses.

UNION ISLAND DISTRICT (ESTABLISHMENT ME ,BERSHIP
OF COUNCIL) ORDER.


(Gazetted 17th September, 1968).


1. Short title. This Order may be cited as the Union Island District
(Establishment and Membership of Council) Order, 1968.

2. Establishment of Council. There shall be and is hereby established
a District Council, to be known as the Union Island District Council, which
shall be the Local Authority for Union Island in the St. Vincent Grenadines,
which island was declared to be a district by the Union Island (Declaration
of District) Order, 1968 (S.R. & 0. 1968, No. 46.).

3. Membership of District Council. The Union Island District Council
shall consist of six members of whom four shall be elected and two nominated
in the manner provided by the Local Government Ordinance, 1951 (No. 17 of
1951).


Made by the Administrator in Council under section 7 and 9 of the
Local Government Ordinance, 1951 (No. 17 of 1951) this 10th day of
September, 1968.
