WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 of the Land Acquisition Ordinance
1946 (No. 22 of 1946) that if the Administrator in Council considers that any
land should be acquired for a public purpose he may cause a declaration to.
that effect to be made:
AND WHEREAS it is considered by the Administrator in Council that the
undermentioned parcel of land should be acquired for a public purpose, to wit,
the erection of a Water Tank on the Carriere Branch line from Montreal.
Now IT Is HEREBY DECLARED by His Honour the Administrator acting in
accordance with the advice of the Executive Council of the Colony of Saint
Vincent that upon the 2nd Publication of this Declaration in the Gazette all
that parcel of land at Carriere in the Parish of St. George the property of
Mabel Yearwood measuring 101 square feet shall vest absolutely in the Crown.
AND IT IS HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number G6/114 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been
prepared by Clifford E. R. Williams Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on
the 26th day of March 1968 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kings-

that parcel of land at Richland Park in the Parish of Charlotte the property
of the Heirs of Edith Davis measuring 169 square feet shall vest absolutely in
the Crown.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number C4/36 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by Clifford E. R. Williams Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the
26th day of March, 1968 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown
in the said Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said
Department.

AND IT Is HEREBY FURTHER DECLARED AND NOTIFIED that a plan bearing
the Number 04/35 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-
pared by Clifford E. R. Williams, Licensed Land Surveyor and lodged on the
20th day of March, 1968 at the Lands and Surveys Department of Kingstown
in the said Colony and can be inspected at all reasonable hours at the said
Department.

the Number G6/95 showing the above mentioned parcel of land has been pre-

Scholarships offered by the Govern-
ment of India

The Government of India is offering
a number of Scholarships for studies in
India to students from the West Indies
under their General Cultural Scholar-
ships Scheme for 1969/70.
The Scholarships cover a wide range
of subjects including Arts and Human-
ities in general; basic Sciences (includ-
ing Home Science, Library Science),
Statistics; Commerce, Agriculture,
Medicine, Law.
Applicants for under-graduate study
should be between the age of 17 and
22 years and should possess Senior
Cambridge/Matriculation (or its equiv-
alent), those for post-graduate courses
should preferably be between 20-25
years with at least a Second Division
Bachelor's Degree.


Further information about these
Scholarships could be obtained from
the Establishment Office, Kingstown,
St. Vincent.
Closing date for applications, which
should be sent to Establishment Office
is 19th October, 1968, at 3.00 p.m.

VACANT POSTS.

VACANT POST OF SENIOR TECHNICAL
OFFICER, INDUSTRIAL STANDARDS BUREAU.

Applications are invited from suit-
ably qualified persons for appointment
to the above post.
The salary of the post is in the scale
$5,580 x 240-7,320 x 300-7,920 x 360
-9,000.
At present the post is a temporary
one but it is proposed to make it per-
manent and pensionable.
The successful candidate will be ex-
pected to undergo a period of training
-possibly overseas of not less than
four to six months-in Industrial
Standards administration. The candi-
date will also be expected to enter into
a Bond to remain in the Government
Service for three years from the date
of completion of his training.
Applicants should be at least 24 years
of age and should possess the following
qualifications and experience:
(a) be qualified Engineer B.Sc. first
or second class honours-mechani-
cal, civil or electrical or member-
ship of a recognized professional
institution in either of these disci-
plines;
(b) have some experience in industry
of a productive character, though
desirable this is not essential;
(c) possess some organising ability
and should be competent in hand-
ling conferences and committees
considering technical problems,
ranging over the entire field of
productive industry;
(d) be able after initial training to
address meetings and seminars and
give lectures;
(e) have a working knowledge of
French, this would be of some ad-
vantage though not essential.

PUBLIC LIBRARY (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1968.


(Gazetted 13th Aegust, 1968).


1. Short title. These Regulations msiy be cited as the Public Library
(Amendment) Regulations, 1968, and shall be read as one with the Pubiic
Library Regulations, 1950 (S.R.. & 0. 1950, No. 61) hereinafter referred to as
the principal Regulations, and all amendments thereto.
2. Regulation 6 of principal Regulations revoked and replaced. Regu-
lation 6 of the principal Regulations is hereby revoked and replaced as
follows:-
6. Borrowing of Books. Books may be borrowed for home reading
by-
(a) all bona fide residents of St. Vincent and the Grenadines on their
affixing their signatures to a registration form by which they under-
take to read and abide by the rules of the library;
(b) visitors on payment of a returnable deposit of five dollars;
(c) other persons, at the discretion of the Librarian.
3. Regulation 8 of principal Regulations revoked and replaced. Regu-
lation 8 of the principal Regulations is hereby revoked and replaced as
follows:-
8 -Conditions of Issue and Use of Books. The time allowed a mem-
ber6,f the Library for iteading books shall, unless otherwise notified, be
